@a6km they never made the gear ratios from the front and back the same, apparently because its a major pain in the ass. if it was full time as it is now, you would be taking it into the shop every few weeks for repair

The rubicon is by far the best. I know cause I own both the sahara and the rubi. I use my rubi for extreme off roading while I use my sahara for daily drive to work.

@nemeanlion, as far as I know. Fact, rubicon is the best stock off road vehicle in the world. There's no match. The rubicon comes with front, rear lockers and electronic sway bar disco's. The Sahara doesn't come with that, but it has all the other bells and whistles as the rubicon. The only thing that the rubicon doesn't have is matching paint for the hard top and fenders. The rubicon is the only wrangler that comes with 4.10 gear ratio while the Sahara had a 3.73 gear ratio. The rubicon is by

@Nemeanlion, all the wranglers are very capable, yes the Rubicon is technically better offroad than the Sahara, but youll be stuck with the 4:10 gears which are notthe best on open highway driving, so its a tradeoff, i prefer the 3:73s on my Sahara, and i would put it up against the others you had mentioned, no problem !

NemeanLion, there's a reason the wrangler won 4wd of the decade. I love mine, and xterra's or 4runners arent gonna go everywhere a wrangler will go. They'll ride nicer, but are their granddad's the willy's jeep that help win WW2? No. I have an 07 Unlimited wrangler and wont trade it for anything. Buy one, you won't regret it!

I know the Sahara isn't as good as the Rubicon off road, but does anyone know if the Sahara is still better off road than most other 4wd vehicles? I like the Jeep Sahara, but it doesn't make much sense for me to get it if the Xterra or 4runner is going to outperform it both on and off road.

jeep wins, no matter what. rubicon has lockers and a dana 44 up front, but the sahara is still very capable. get a lift and tires and your set. no one keeps the stock tires anyways, including me :)

You guys are fuckin children yes you can by a 2WD Jeep factory. The standard option was always 4WD until 2007 just like the standard transmission is 6 speed manual but the other option is 4 speed automatic. Its all options now aday. You guys need to learn up on your jeeps.

Yeah, I picked up a Sahara. Already bought some arbs and had them installed. The touch screen 30gig my gig is nice. You can record and save trails you go on. you can also save cds on the hard drive and I also bought a key so that I can let my kid watch movies while on long trips. (painted fenders are a waste....I already took one off on a tree : ]
