this scene was so well done on how there was this whole tension for about 1o or 20 minutes of the basterds just wanting to get the fuck out and people just bothering them. quentin made me feel exactly what the characters were feeling and when this scene came up i was like 'holy shit this scene is 20 seconds and its the best scene ebcause of 20 minutes of tension. fucking awesome

The training you speak of is to actually duck at the time of the first shot fired, not when 12 out of 15 people in the bar are shot.

Whole scene including pre-shootout speech was one of the best things I ever saw. I mean the tention, between SS guy and british spies. How both british officer and SS guy put themselves in unlockable situation where both of them are going to die anyway. And when this 20 seconds shootout erupted I was like WTF!??

@PeterTubaEuph No, my mistake. I saw some screencaps at imfdb.  Zmister517 has it right, except Wicki only wounds Card-face. Private Wilhelm kills Wicki, Card-face, and the waitress with the SMG. Since Hicox only gets off 2-3 shots, that leaves at least 3 shots for Hammersmark to put into Wilhelm w/his gun. It's Stiglitz that fires every shot he has, before dying with 2-4 9mms and a round of buckshot in him.
