I'm sorry, but I'm just a little tired of hearing Robotech gettin trashed. If Carl Macek hadn't brought Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada over here, we wouldn't be talking about the original versions of these shows, because nobody would've heard of them. And face the facts: the japanese versions have dumb stuff too. I'm not saying the us versions are superior. There's just good and bad things about both. And I love both Macross and Robotech for their own reasons.
I hear you. Is the same with Power Rangers. If I hadn't had that , I wouldn't be into Sentai.
I'm pretty sure they could buy the rights to use the designs in the film , and if there's one, I'd go to see it either way. I'd be happy if there was a Japanese Macross film as well. Kinda like Star Blazers/Yamato.

I would sort of love a reconciliation of both series with a live action film that takes aspects of both. Like for example , Go uncut on the Macross story but keep all the names from the American version and the some of the aspects like the protoculture. I'd love for Orguss to be adapted into the plot as either the fourth or second plot line ,but the fourth since it has a highly futuristic Star Wars feeling.
@BigDogLtd I can't comment on Orguss, never saw the show, but would like to, but I completely agree about having the best elements from both versions. That's what had been supposedly planned for the live action Voltron, but either they abandoned that or the film has gotten dropped... Don't know, cause I haven't heard anything for about a year or so.
I wish Studio Nue would pull the trigger and release their own SDF-Macross live action movie, and take a huge dump on Harmony Gay/Homotech's front lawn. Hell, it's not like Warner Bro. can use the VF-1 mecha design, nor the macross saga story, so they pretty much don't have anything to work with (Hence why there's no update of Robogay the movie in the past 3 years). Hell, I'd pay a premium to import a copy from Japan.

Mckenny took the story and made a veitname/ space story about it callled ROBOTECH! and Harmony gold broke it into 3 series..okay there!! My question is where did the last 40 sec of this video come from..It looks pretty damn good!!!

Robotech book series was an original concept created from two Authors known as Jack McKenny. They created the series after being introduced to two the series in Japan. The books are amazing and the series up to the invid invasion were for their time well adapted. Yes the could have been better but the series was targeted for ages 5 to 13. They didn't expect it to have the same impact as Transformers and get the adult population involved. Don't hate on Robotech because you think its a spinoff.
I don't think its a fact, robotech the MACROSS SAGA is in fact a terrible english version of super dimensional macross. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Macross do you remember love, macross 2 lovers again macross 7 macross plus macross flash back 2010 which isnt a good movie but its okay, then theres macross frontier macross frontier movie and there will be more not to mention all the products and games for macross

I agree, but i do think that robotech is ok to. I love them both!!! But the dub and story is much more intersting in macross.
Robotech can be really chezzy and crappy at times plus that silly 80's music LOL!
