I don't see what's enjoyable about anime... Isn't it just a bunch of high pitched whining japanese girls blushing and crying all the time? The fighting is pretty tight, but repetitive. Enlighten me?

@tacoreaper1 I understand that completely. If i do watch an action movie, the enjoyment I get is more for the humorous situations and sometimes a sudden suspense thrill although that gets repetitive quickly no doubt. That's sort of why I like other movies like Forrest Gump or Matrix, more in depth movies. I mean no offense to those who watch Anime, everyone has their own interests, I just wanna know what people enjoy about it since I can only find it somewhat annoying.

@todonomore most anime is deeper than you're giving it credit for. Obviously it's more than a bunch of high pitched whining japanese girls blushing and crying all the time, much like action movies are obviously more than just a bunch of guys cursing and shooting. Good anime has complex character and story development, well choreographed fight scenes, and well-defined plots. Others that are less serious may draw their depth from satire.

But I mean, what I just said goes for most genres of cinema

@todonomore Anime isn't for everyone. You certainly don't have to like it. But if you're interested, I love One Piece. It's light-hearted with a deep story and heavy undertones. If you just want a taste of what good anime is like, you might want to try a movie. Ghost in the Shell and Spirited Away are hard to dislike.
