Yes, a truly classic movie for its time. Even real biplanes were flown. Forget seeing in on Blu-Ray.It's only a way for Hollywood to make more money from the consumer. This applies to present day movies as well.
Loved this. I'd never even heard of this movie. Great music choice.
Also, those Boxers at 1:07 seemed to be in a real fight. And, when the roof collapses at 1:18 , if no one got injured in that stunt, that would be a damn miracle.
I am with CactusBlue60, good trailer, but have to disagree, it's a film that still holds up, and the melodrama, as well as the aerial sequences, make it more accessible for those who are not confirmed classic film fans. I think it really gets across the innocence of the WWI generation.
It is a great film just for the flying sequences. Also, the bubbles in the restaurant scene are funny! Check out my Red Baron song on the "BicyclingGuitarist" channel here on YouTube. The lyrics and images are historically accurate. I wrote this song on a bicycle (not kidding about that!)
Are you kidding me?? Not a great film? Yes, it was melodramatic, but so were most silent movies, they didn't have their voices available to help mute the physical acting. The aerial sequences were far ahead of their time, and are probably the main reason Wings won the first Best Picture Oscar. I wish someone would do a fully orchestrated soundtrack, I know they were trying to stay in period with the theater organ, but please. Thanks for posting, great trailer regardless.
It's reputation placed my expectations pretty high, I guess... It's enjoyable as I have wrote, but Clara Bow herself starred in a better movie that same year in my opinion ("It"). People curious to see the first Oscar winner and who aren't used to silents may be disappointed.
I agree that the aerial sequences are excellent though!
Wings was my real introduction to the world of silents. I went in with the expectation that the acting was going to be broad, so I guess I was okay with that. After your comment and seeing some clips here on YouTube, I would like to see "It". I saw a bio on Clara Bow a few years back that got me interested in her life and career, and these two movies have to be among her very best performances.

I liked the tracking in at the beginning of this clip, with all the different couples.
It's no wonder that this film won best picture - and for the very first time, too!
Although personally I loved Metropolis - that should've won some awards. Yay early science fiction!
Thanks for posting this - I will check it out sometime soon
