BTW, from ~ 0:44 to 0:47 you can see a somewhat uncommon SP AT Gun driving behing the MkIII from left to right. This seems to be a 75mm PAK40 or possibly a 50mm PAK38 mounted on a small halftrack or early MKII chasis (hard to see the muzzle brake). This type of modification was made in the field, usually at a divisional or regimental vehicle maintenance unit.

I have Marshal Grechko's book 'Battle for the Caucasus' & he writes very unbiased IMHO. Problem with Allied & Axis accounts after WWII was that many losses were overestimated or underestimated due to the politics of the Cold War etc. You might want to read some USA literature about the Cold War, Vietnam War, slavery, the Indian wars & alliances, slavery, the Civil War etc. You will be surprised of the open self criticism, analyses, etc. & the accounts quoted from the people involved.

BTW, I will make a list of some of the books I have on the Eastern Front that use both Soviet & German sources. Zetterling, a good author, has done some accurate statistical work concerning tanks etc. used, avaialbe, under short term repair, detsroyed, & troop casualties on both Kursk & Normandy.

Rommel praised the Italian Bersalglieri, Churchill praised the Folgore Para. Div. for its stand at El Alamein, & Stalin praised the Italian Alpini Corps' fighting withdrawal in Russia.

People should read more than just a few accounts, & not let their arrogance & ignorance blind them or make them forget the millions of Soviet troops that performed badly, surrendered, & were defeated. Even the Italians, Rumanians etc. beat the Soviet forces badly in many instances. Not good to underestimate.

Tunnels on island could hold up to 1,000 troops in the largest of them. Japanese weren't on the island they were IN the island. Same on many islands.

Italians played football and were as children. Among things of killed Italians there were a number(line) of Icon Maiden Maria and there and then condoms. It speaks about character. Therefore it is not surprising, that they battled less fiercely than Germans.

@BaranovV That's actually true. Romanian and Italian armies did not compare to a German army of equal strength,they were denied equipment before their German counterparts. They also had much less motive to fight in Russia than the Germans. Not their war, Germany's war. The Russians specifically targeted the Romanian army on the 6th army's right flank during the battle of Stalingrad. They also lacked AT weapons and routed quickly from tank assaults. The Germans dubebd this "panzer fright".

@BaranovV, Problem was the Italian ground equipment was generally outdated, but I can give you a link showing the effects of Ital. HESH rounds on the front & side of a T-34. By early 1942 Semovente (Assault Gun) 75/18 were available, & in 1943 75/34 & 105mm Semovente with 70mm of frontal armor were availble, as was a SP 90mm (like Flak 88mm), etc. but none of these went to the East Front but were used in Africa, Sicily, & Italy by the Itals. & Germans.
