Are you kidding? Those variety shows were a dime a dozen back then. Singing live was very rare and expensive when you produced hundreds of musical shows a year.

From these clips, you miss what happens when she sings torch songs. At a live performance, something magical happens. You don't move, you just listen. She is sultry and makes them work! See her live someday so you can experience the difference. I was amazed. Talking with the audience between songs, she has no stage presence. But when she sings, she carries the torch! Seeing her live gave me a whole new appreciation for her abilities.
Actually, we can in August this year. She will be performing at the Prescott Jazz Festival in Arizona. I hope you can make the trip. I'm going. Then we could meet. That would be nice.
Toni's two (U-Tube avalible) SOLID GOLD apperances are such perfectly staged and lit to perfection! What better showcase for such a wonderfully talented lady

She really shines as a solo singer! I absolutely love her with her husband, but her voice is so smooth and gorgeous, given the right song.
