Ah, one of these days I'll be trundling about in a Plums & Custard, roof rolled back (well, assuming it's sunny of course!!!) and care-free, that is until a chav comes and drives up my ar5e in his vauxhall corsa...
And the 2CV was indeed sold in the USA, so was the offroad version the Mehari. Check American Graphiti.
Concerning crashing with US cars, they weren't designed for the US market, but it was deisnged from a simple philosophy of it being to carry 3 adults and 100lbf of potatoes from point A to point B, as cheaply as possible. It wasn't designed to be a sort of therapy, to cure low selfworth or lack of potency..It doesn't have a huge V8, as a V8 was unneeded.
Sorry... I think it doesn't stuck because of his light weight and doesn't turn because of the length of the axles of the wheels. Am i right? (sorry my english)
Can you imagine one of these mixin' it up w/a Ford Excursion ? The Excursion would barely know it had hit something...No wonder they never sent these over here to the States..
Also the car from Richard Dreyfus in "American graffiti", for sure they were sold in US. And to have driven one, maybe the best car to drive on snow! ;)
I love the 2CV....designed way back in 1948 and produced all the way into the 1980s it is one of the most successful cars ever built, testimony to its great design
you're welcome! Actually production was from 1948-1990,but yes design process did start in the 30s under the talented Pierre Boulanger...i love what you folks did with the headlights!
Don't know about that. Haven't got the facts, but the Bettle was being made before the 2nd World War, so mid '30's and, Even thought it's not VW, the Bettle is still being made brand new today in south america along with the old 60's VW Campervan
The 2CV is possibly THE most ugly care with the notable exception of the Pontiac Aztec. But these are so ugly, they are beautiful. Balls putting it to the Cult soundtrack. They are on the way back! Cheers!
Didn't this video originally have The Cult's "She Sells Sactuary"? What's the new song?

@MrGallagher YouTube took The Cult off due to copyright infringement, this is the song they replaced it with :-(

the 2cv is one of the safest cars built because it does not get involved in accidents, risk compensation and all that,
