  • This was fantastic! 5/5

  • awsome video! i lol'ed at the at the guy with the "Beer is Good" shirt :P

  • the woman in the red top at the end is a bit lazy, all she did was sit there

  • coooool! i love the part with the light house. also, nice song.

i wanna be an archeologist! that would be so fun.

  • Wow!.

  • Great Video Hugh. I am really impressed to see all the hard work that goes into digging up our past. I hope you had a really great time. The quality is great in Higher Quality. Okay well wait till your next video then. And I did see you in the video actually doing some work, and like the person below. What is the name of the Song.

    Fantastic work Hugh... welcome home

  • So cool.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Awsome Video!! I am really jealous of your job, I just move boxes around all day, and I never find anything cool....lol 5 stars!!

  • Wow, this is just brilliantly done. You mustve had one hell of a lot of video memory.

  • What was that all about???

    It's all Greek to me.

  • wow this was fantastic. thank you. it has made me subscribe :)

    (the music really made footage

    enjoyable. :) ).

    5 STARS!

  • holy shit

  • wows

  • Wow, that's a lot of video. Hours and hours. It's really neat to watch the process though. I also think the backround music is perfect, whatever it is.

  • Just in case you're wondering, the song is 'Universal Traveller' by Air, from their 4th album 'Talkie Walkie'.

    And great vid too.

  • I envy you of your job! i'd LOVE to volunteer but would need more details before i could really consider it. I've missed you Hugh!

  • Hey, Hugh.

I'd really like to find out what music is used in this one. Also, you coming to SF again for YouTube Live? I know you have 2 events down there immediately following.

    Cheers.

    -Steve SF/CA/USA

  • What's your team looking for in particular? Some petrified Hellenistic/Roman popcorn? Please report.

  • what music is this in the video? looks amazing out there too gr8 video =D

  • Nice footage, how did you keep your kamera cool for such long filming sessions under the sun?

  • Wow, so freakin awesome. "Beer is Good." Haha, that shirt stands out! Great video, beautiful and amazing. I agree with the ayefdee, I was wondering if Hooking Up really was your true demise!

  • Beautiful. I love time lapse.

  • Awesome video. Loved it :)

  • SO cool!

  • Hugh, thank you for posting this. It brought back so many memories of the dig I worked at in Israel back when I was in college. Came home with a heck of a tan. I hadn't thought about washing and sorting shards in years. Nor the word "patiche".

  • Were you the one wearing the shirt that said "Beer is good" on the back? @ 2:37.

  • No that wasn't me

  • I'm shocked! I really thought that looked like your back side. Not that I should really know what your back side looks likes. Heh!

  • I noticed that shirt too. I was thinking.. that is a damn fine shirt. Beer IS Good. It really is. I mean there may be a few things better then it, but at the end of a hot days work you would not want to drink a puppy or a rainbow. Beer is good. And so was this video :) 5/5

  • Who is jealous of your job?? THIS GIRL!! Welcome back I was starting to think you really were dead!

  • All I can remember about this video is that beer is good. Hmm... I could go with a beer right about now.

  • too cool

  • Cool, One of my friends was there i think!!

  • really, who?

  • wow i think i saw John Hammond's helicopter coming in. you're goin to jurassic park hugh! oh no dont get eaten :(

  • Seems like A LOT of beer was consumed and numerous showers were taken!

  • must have been frustrating sorting those rocks, did u see those guys at 3:18, notice the shadows moving across the mat, i would not be able to sit there for that long and sort them out

  • fuk that must have been boring. but nice music and nice video

  • I like this serious side too! Quite nice, Mr. T. I particularly like seeing the earth dissolve away, starting at about 1:45.

    Most evocative!

  • out of all your video's this is definitely my favourite Hugh. Really well done, and awesome music choice. Kudos :)

  • yep i agree ;)

  • BEER IS GOOD! I love it. lol

What is the time frame of that dig that we are looking at?

  • Misleading title. In the course of four minutes, Indy would have punched at least one Nazi.

  • lol

  • WOW that is so cool

    whats it for thought?

it looks like they spent ages on it..

  • whayt kinda stuff did u uncover?

  • More Action packed then any Indiana Jones Movie I have ever seen. The feel good movie of the decade!

That was awesome! You had some fantastic footage in there. Love the skyline shot with the clouds. Most Excellent!

  • Hugh is alive!

Nicely done Hugh, nicely done :)

  • if anyone of you is wondering about the song its Universal Traveler Lyrics by Air

  • Hi Hugh!!

  • Good to know your still alive hugh =D

  • Hugh, I gotta say it: this vid is quite different from your typical great humourous stuff....but this was fantastic.

    Well done, keep it up!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaa the life of an archaeologist :D

  • Hugh... wow... makes me wonder why I changed my major. Probably because no PhD is needed.

  • Indiana Jones was my first hero and role model as well. I knew being an Archaeologist wasnt really like what he did, but parts of it could be and sometimes it can be like that in extreme circumstances

  • I wish I was working on an excavation. I went to school for Anthropology and I needed money so I had to find jobs that didnt involve it and I miss it a lot. Id love to be there doing that.

  • you should of had the indiana jones theme playing :P ur job lets u go 2 some great locations which i like but i dont see it as a career for me

  • wow hugh thats really cool!

  • Did you fight any Nazis?

  • So cool that's your job. Fascinating.

  • that's awesome! Sounds super exciting I hope to see more videos of it! I wish I could volunteer for a dig like that but I have much on my plate:( oh well.

  • You have an awesome life.

  • Yeah new video!!!!

Can your next one be less educational...jkjk

  • Cool i know someone who studied at Adelaide uni who does archeology and is on mainland greece doing some stuff there! pretty cool.

    have you learnt any greek/cypriot?

  • Colored plastic buckets? You'd think they'd come up with something slightly more professional... Meh. Nice job nonetheless.

So how long did this actually take?

  • Please, what is the music? I love it!

  • universal traveler by air

  • Neat video, I loved the music choice and I really liked your time lapse. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Wish I could help but I'm on a dig looking for the sacred jug of Oogalboogala.

    Just kidding:)

Very cool and good luck and exited to see what you find

  • that was a gorgeous video =) hope youre having a great time on the site! youtube misses you!

  • See what happens when you ignore the vacuuming for too long? Someone has to dig your loungeroom out.

Great video - loved the time lapse.

Does that mean you're back in time for the Sydney Gathering?

  • Yay I love watching dirt disappear

  • nice job and great music!

  • Yay! Hugh is alive. woot!

I would love to volunteer for the dig but there are a couple of problems. I have no money, no qualifications or experience, and I am in the wrong part of the world. Other than that, I would love to help out.

  • Very Very Very cool!

  • You dig a good hole.

  • What are you guys looking for? Did someone lose their keys?

  • Looks fun. *cough*

  • really interesting :)

  • cool

  • cool lapse, it was funny when the 'beer is good' guy passed the camera

  • missed you hobbs!

  • excellent

  • Taking history for my A-levels, then it's of to uni, and who knows mayhap I'll become an archaeologist. Great to see your still making videos Hugh!

  • i would really like to get a chance to volunteer is there an age limit to being able to do that? please email me back the answer, unless its on the site, thank you.

  • aww.. when I was a kid I wanted to study archaeology.. loved it!

  • I love the daily views of the dig!

  • its alright it works now and nice vid

  • What song is this?

  • It`s song by band called AIR. I don`t know the exact title, but I think it`s on their last album ... I hope this helps. :D

  • hey why isnt this video availble?

  • wonderful video Hugh... glad to see a new vid .. we missed ya

  • Thats not the "real" Indiana Jones, those are simply "real" archaeologists. Indiana Jones is more accurately described as a treasure hunter than an archaeologists.

  • More of a grave robber than anything

  • Ya, but hugh, I'm sure you know that's pretty much what archaeologists we're in the era of Indiana Jones, they were in it for the money and prestige nothing else. They destroyed priceless artifacts of immense cultural and historical value to get to a few ounces of shiny stuff on the other side.

  • only about 20% of them or so and the public likes to refer to them as grave robbers

  • I know we call them grave robbers now day's, but their were allot more than 20% back in the early 1900's. It was a common and acceptable practice to simply take what was of immediate value from a find. Since most dig's were privately funded and the benefactors expected to get more than a few shards of pottery in return for funding everything.

Take Tutankhamun, they broke the mummies arm just to get the gold it was wrapped around. Something modern archeologists would have a stroke over.

  • Great, just great

  • whats the name of the song?

    and the album plox

  • The song is "Universal Traveller" by Air

  • <3333

    My future job.

  • Wow... great video. There's months and months of video coverage there. I think I must have counted about 30 days alone during 1.30 and approx 2.20, judging by the shadow movements.

  • Yeah that was 4 weeks worth of digging...

  • i love speed videos.

  • that looks so chill. mad.

  • Archeology is hardly "chill" if you ask me. They seem to generally dig in the hottest spots. Mad maybe, I wouldn't say chill however.

  • Name of song?

  • Hey hugh did ya guys find anything cool?

  • We did but I can't really say too much

  • Anything, dare I say... alien?

  • Great Video!

I was wondering what happened to you. Glad to see you busy at what you do best and hope one day you will find a library of treasure; earthen knowledge

  • DUDE thats fucking awesome and it looks tedious
