Oh man! I remember watching this as a little kid (against parents' orders) in the early 70's. I grew up on Long Island and probably saw it on Creature Features or Chiller Theater. Gave me nightmares for days and left a lasting mark on my brain! Thems were da dayz!
This movie was actually scary when I was a kid. The first part is bad, with lots of stock disaster footage. But the tension is pretty good once the scientists are under siege in a mountain lab, trying to find a weapon while the zombies are pounding on the door. And hey, at least it was an original idea that inspired George Romero -- unlike that "Walking Dead" ripoff on AMC.
@Totaly14 yes! I have it, it's hilariously awesome. They don't show enough of the 'zombies' in this trailer but the aliens basically have to inhabit bodies of the dead so therefore it turns kind of into a zombie flick... it's basically an anti-war movie though, it's done pretty well!!
I remember seeing this on the late late late show. Every Saturday I'd get to stay up late and watch "monster movies" until I fell asleep in front of the TV.
Same here, I used to see this move a LOT on WNEW 5 New York's "Creature Features" on Saturday,
AND for some odd reason, for years from the mid 80's to sometime in the late 90's, ABC would show the movie on New Year's Day a few hours after the Ball Dropped. It would show on something called "Haunted Hollywood" and would be hosted by John Carradine.
Sometimes he would host "Night Of The Living Dead" on the same show. Strange.
Great!! I remember seeing this when it came out, a double feature on a Saturday (remeber that??) along with "The 4 Skulls of Jonathan Drake" Probably cost all of 50 cents, maybe 75...
"We are invisible, Adam Kenner... you cannot see us! Even though you are looking right in my direction...and I happen to look like John Carradine...you cannot see us! Look out the window,at allthose walking dead men... you can't see them either..."
what you see are the bodies of dead earthmen being animated by the invisible aliens. the aliens themselves are invisible not the bodies which they inhabit. got it now?
Dude! are you serious? This movie was made in the 1950s. They did not have the same level of technology or scientific understanding that we do today. The audience that viewed this stuff didn't have the sophistication of today's audiences.
The special effects that we see in movies today, started from this stuff. Just enjoy it for what and when it was. It is lesson in film history.
It's not about the quality of the special effects. Of course you don't expect to see the same level of visual effects in a 1950s sci-fi B movie that you see in today's films, or even in a well-made contemporary SF film like "Forbidden Planet."
It's about basic science. Even today, scientifically illiterate writers still toss around words like "intergalactic" without understanding what a galaxy is and what a planetary system is.
Why don't you understand? It's quite possible that these invaders are from another planet outside of our own Galaxy? The Milky Way isn't the only Galaxy in the universe.
@Nunsweepit421 Of course, we know there are countless billions of galaxies in the universe, but the distances between them are unimaginably huge. Even if you could travel at 500 times the speed of light, it would take FIVE THOUSAND YEARS to reach the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest galactic neighbor. The distances between stars in our own galaxy are vast enough as it is.
Sure, I take your point. But as this is just a film, we could use our imaginations and think that maybe these beings from another planet have the technology to bend and warp Space whereby they created a wormhole considerably shortening the vast distances of interstellar space travel.
LOL This is so corny and funny and the funniest part was when the guy fell down and it said "THE MOST FANTASTIC BATTLE EVER FOUGHT!" Oh yeah that was so fantastic....NOT!!!
I saw this when it came out, in a double-feature with, I think, "The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake"...a typical Saturday-afternoon movie-house offering, back then...it probably cost .75 to get in, and the candy was nickel and dime stuff...
Thanks for posting this! I remember the music from this movie, 45 years after seeing it! It was a great horror flick. Thanks for posting!! Scared the hell out of me as a 5 year old watching it!
Wow-outside our galaxy-these guys came along way-skipped a trillion planet to get us.Boy,us Earth people must be special or is it just our women are so hot?
WNEW Channel 5's "Creature Features" on Saturday night or their afternoon show.
Very creepy.
I might be taking a shot in the dark here, but this film looks like one Mr. George Romero might have taken some cues when he made Night Of The Living Dead.
Because you have opened this... you will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life... if you don't break the chain. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't send this to at least 10 people by the stroke of midnight tonight you will be forever cursed in love. Just copy and paste this.. Good Luck!
Million volt excitment..hey that should be enough energy to run my big screen tv.

Coincidently, having invisible aliens saves a lot of money on the movie's budget

This movie is probably the precursor of all Night of the Living Dead movies. Actually pretty entertaining once you get past the special effects

"I am from another planet, outside your galaxy."
"I'm sorry -- I just don't understand!"
Maybe that's because our own Milky Way galaxy is 100,000 light-years across and contains at least 200 billion stars? It's plenty big enough!
The hacks who write this stuff never seem to understand the difference between a galaxy and a solar system.
This looks like the picture Ed Wood wishes he could have made.
