Her age isn't the issue. Her protestations of innocence (she isn't) is not the issue.

The issue is that she is small of stature and the constable could have simply grabbed her wrist, slapped some cuffs on her and thrown her butt in jail, where she clearly belongs.

I would have said the same if this was some 30-yr old dude who was short and thin. Just because a person is acting badly doesn't give the police permission to use more force than is necessary.

This old woman is a liar. She at 1st said she did nothing wrong...Then all of a sudden the police tape came out and she shut up. Cop was right to Taser her. The woman was acting like a bitch. The officer abused his duty as a peace officer. He could easily handle the subject without this type of force, for a 70 something year old this could be considered deadly force. They need to remove tasers from police officers. Pepper spray is a suitable weapon. Pepper spray in this case would have been unnecessary. You can see the officer easily control her with a simple push. Why didn't he just handcuff her. Idiot with a badge.

People say that because she's 72, she wasn't a threat and he could have restrained her without force. Strange, I didn't realize that old age made you less of a threat. How was the cop to know if she had a weapon or not? They way she kept pushing up on him and acting hostile, I would be worried that she was trying to get to his gun. I believe the officer was completely justified in his use of less-than-lethal force.

He could have tried to arrest her physically. However since this was occurring at the side of the road and after seeing the attitude of the 72 year old woman, tasing her may have saved her life.

The officer already had to guide her away from the traffic. Any further attempts to physically control her could have led to her running into the traffic.
