Some British songs are so idolised in America we almost completely forget that the song and band are from our own country (UK). So many 1980's hit songs I hear half the time I forget that they are British and I think they are American.
I didn't grow up in the 80s, but for some odd reason I get nostalgic whenever I see 80s stuff (watching 80s movies or listening to 80s music). I was born in 1993, so I was young when the 90s ended, but I still remember how those few years felt. and the 80s and 90s almost feel connected. btw, I first heard this in The Karate Kid; now that movie is a true classic!
When pop music was just simply GOOD and no gimmicks behind the music or the act....unlike today where there has to be a gimmick to get them on the radio
I was born in 83 so I didn't experience the 8190's as those do in most quintessentially 80's movies do bc I was too young to join the Monster Squad or gp on Pee Wee's Big Adventure or qualify for Bloodsport or help Rambo or experience a Red Dawn or wear Sunglasses At Night because my bedtime was 9:00 and I was asleep and dreaming in a Land Of Confusion that Keep(s) Me Hanging One in the Land Down Under during that One Night In Bangkok. Then I wake up and its 2012... but something new will come~
@HausofBats ... nah, the "Ace of Base" version is much too dance/electronic beat-oriented, not to mention derivative and thus a bit stale, without the rawness and pathos of the original. But to each his or her own.
Nope. Don't give a rat's ass about The Karate Kid. The only thing that matters is what a great song this is and Bananarama is the coolest girl group of all time. Ever. Check out more Bananarama - STATE I'M IN, NATHAN JONES WOGAN, PREACHER MAN DES O'CONNOR
Yes, def. in the first Karate Kid movie -- where he meets the girl at the beach party and the bf kicks his ass. Man I loved the end where the tables got turned and Ralph Maggio owned this a-hole (girl's ex-boyfriend).
je pense que l'on ne pourra plus ecrire des chansons telles que celles que l'on entendait depuis l'avenement du microsillon et c'est pour ça que nous sommes condamnés à entendre maintenant des copies, des reprises et des imitations, mais rien de comparable à ce que l'on entendait à l'époque. Bien sur, il y a des gens pleins de talent, tels Goldman, Obispo, Calogero et d'autres, mais il n'y a que sept notes dans la gamme et je crois qu'on sature;

@cheetah5115 Well if you're 13 I doubt you're parents were even old enough to remember the 80's. And transferring it to you doesn't really make any sense tbh. The 80's are gone and will never come back I'm afraid.
I was a kid growing up in the 80s they just seem really great if you didn't have to live through that surrealistic shit, the 90s were well depressing but at least you didn't have to wear 8 layers of clothes and makeup to leave the house. @RMCFShaunay1991 This is untrue.
