  • the intro freaked me out :|

  • @angierox365 Lol, 3 years later, it surely freaks ME out too when I listen to it again. Been thinking about editing it, but I'm keeping it for my daughter to listen to it so that when she gets a little older, she can tell her classmates: "See, that's what my daddy sings to me every night". Haha!

(But seriously, sorry it freaks u out)

  • Hello Prof. Frenchtastic! I'm English, and am trying to learn French, but I certainly cant do the accent, I was wondering if its vital in the pronunciation of French and whether French speakers would know what I was saying if I said something with an English accent. You speak English with a French accent, but Ive always been taught that I have to sound French... is this true? Thanks.

  • Oui, ton language est sans le fautes!Compliment

Mais tu a un accent trés fort^^

Je crois qu'il est plus dûre pour le francais de parler anglais avec seulement un petit accent comme pour les allemand...

  • I'll take that as a compliment, thanks! Now would you please show the world how YOU actually speak French instead of just WRITING it in a single-line comment? Talk is cheap, you know.

    Herman

  • Are you haitian? YOu sound like it. I'am haitian-Ivorienne. :)

  • People want to learn basic. You cannot learn a language when the lessons are only given in that language if you do not have a basic knowledge of that language. For exemple, when I started learning English, I first began by asking people around how we say this or that word in English. That's how I learned basic words. When I knew it, I was able to have English lessons only given in English because I was able to understand a little bit. With time, I became better.

  • Hi. I just wanted to drop you a quick note. My father's family was French Canadian and her spoke some French to me when I was young (so I'm told) but he died when I was young. I then took some French in school, it was always a way to connect to him and his family for me. I have all but forgotten all I knew. I'm going to use your YouTube "Course" and hope it helps bring it back and give me new things too. Sound great so far and thanks for taking the time to teach! Merci!

  • how's the french going so far?

  • De rien! :-)

  • heya im going on a french exchange for the first time in my life and i was wondering if you could give me some help ive been studing french since i was 12 and but it is only basic i want to be able to talk to my french exchange student with a full conversation thanks x

Muchas gracias, Valquiria!

  • so I guess most of the time if you can speak french you can usually speak spanish and english? Wow!

  • I'm glad to see americans interested by learning french. I hope they'll have pleasure as many as I had while I was learning english basics...

Frenchtastic, vous semblez avoir une diction parfaite et un certain sens de la pédagogie, bonne chance à vous :)

  • I realize now many Americans are interested in learning a foreign language. I speak Dutch, English and French fluently and I have a working knowledge of German and Spanish. Learning foreign languages is very important for Flemings like me, when your native tongue isn't well-known ;)

  • Ah Tres bien! Le francias est un beau langue, vraiment!! <3

  • oh gosh shut the fuck up, its a romance language..what are you pissing on about you retard...sorry spanish is number 1 to everyone but someone with a name like "latinasweet.." or with the word "latina/o" period...stop being jealous

  • Dear latinasweetUSA, I never said "romance" language as YOU mentioned but rather "ROMANTIC" language, emphasizing therefore the sexual and idealistic appeal of the French language, (which could be very subjective for different speakers). French IS a romance language, but it's up to you to find it ROMANTIC or not. Hope it's clear. Merci!

  • brandon, he speaks english fine...

  • English is the easiest language of the world thats why it is spoken.. I speak 3 languages and English was the easiest.. Buuuuut, it has so many out of rule things and that makes it a little harder...

  • Linguists say English is one of the most difficult languages there is because of the numerous synonyms and antonyms.

  • wow...this is really great, english being my first language its hard to learn this, im determined to fufil this small dream of mine plus i bet my canadian friends i would learn it before my 14 birthday...thats like 9 months away! if anyone else wanto to give any suggestions im all ears! THANKYOU MY FELLOW YOUTUBE PEOPLE!!!

  • try to listen MIchel Thomas classes, he claims to have a very fast and painless method to learn languages, he taught famous artists and politicians

  • Thanks! I didn't think anyone would actually give a suggestion! It's good to know there are still good people in the world, like you!

  • Actually, it's " je suis si heureux d'être né avec l'allemand en langue maternelle" ^^ I'm also soooo glad to have french as my native language ^^

  • In my opinion English and French are equal when it comes to learning them as a foreign language. What makes them much easier to learn than other languages (e.g. German, Russian) is the lack of grammatical cases. Je suis si heureux que je suis né avec l'allemand comme langue maternelle :)

  • Thank you for posting this sir it never hurts to learn somthing new :D

  • I think that English is very easy really easy to learn the problems are when you have to spell words but for that you just have to talk with an English-speaker person and get use to it and now that i can speak and write english as well as I can do it in spanish i want to do something new and I decided to learn french and then german I already know some portuguese and a bit of italian but for french I'm having some trouble becouse they repeat many times the sound "j" and "g" (sound in spanish)

  • they repeat many times "j" and "G" ?? What do you mean? In french, G have the same pronounciation as "J" (very similar to the "J" english pronouncitation) when it is followed by "I" and "E" as in "bouger" or "tragique"

In ALL the other cases, G is pronounced as in english... For example In the french word "gare", the pronouciation is the same as in the english word "game".

  • ...And your NARROW-MINDEDNESS hurts my conscience, you idiot! Can't you read that English is NOT my first language? Focus on the French or shut up and let others learn in peace. Merci.

  • haha!! OMG prof. frenchtastic is getting angry... thanks prof. for teaching us french... keep it up!

  • hehehe, nothing really serious here. But you have to admit that some comments can be quite annoying sometimes, don't you think? :-)Let's stay focussed on what we here for and study French. La vie est belle! :-)

  • English is one of the most difficult languages in the world.

Arabic, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese are easy languages once you can pronounce everything.

  • I never thought about that - English having more words and French having more grammar! I guess that makes English easier to learn (but not spell), as you don't need many words to get by. I wonder how English will be in a hundred years from now. The more speakers of a language, the more simple it becomes. consider Chinesse grammar . . .

  • do you think it would be easier to learn French if you know how to speak Spanish?

  • Well, if you speak Spanish, you certainly have a greater advantage over people who have English or German as first languages, that's for sure. However, it doesn't necessarily mean you should take this advantage for granted. Without proper self-motivation and practice, this advantage will be worthless in the end.

  • je veux bien que mon français s'ameliore!Tu as msn?

  • i really would liketo learn french n well like u said it will b easy learn it with , i become u studen lol soo i ready to learn french

  • I think that any language that derived from Latin can be called a "Romantic Language" because any of those languages have a richer vocabulary than English or German.

  • Yes, they are romance languages, but English has the most words of all the languages. On a daily basis, however, some languages use more words than English does (think about how many words you use regularly compared to how many are in the dictionary).

  • John, I responded below, but it's displaying elsewhere. Although English is a Germanic language, it has French influence from the Normans. So, that puts a HUGE increase in our vocabulary as we have words from three languages.

  • Muchas grasias , me combierto en su subcriptor!!

  • merci....c'est joli.
