With the new ABC in place is it really worth the effort to make a second generation video. I love the original and wished they would have aired it before the new series but whats done is done. Ken has a great imagination and created shows people will never forget but I fear dou to lack of funds a second generation movie will just come off as being low budget and V does not deserve that. Plus I am sure ABC lawyer made sure Kens lips stay sealed.

The visitors never revealed they wanted food and water. They lied they had serious environmental problems on their planet and needed earth to produce some chemical to neutralize its effect. That chemical was dumped from the motherships and water was instead stored in the huge tanks.

Food of all kind was apparently scarce too and since the visitors were purely carnivorous humans were as good a source of food as any.

Also, when Martin, or his brother I don't remmember, takes Donovan into the human storage room inside a mother ship, Martin explains that many humans will be used as soldiers, when Donovan asks what about the rest, Martin says food is skimpy in their planet, so Donovan realizes those humans will become food.

Imdb says it'll be a tv mini-series. Marc Singer is cast. He's sixty now. Its in production and probably be 2010 by the looks of it, if at all. It'd be cool though even if it is a disaster like most mini-series.
