  • The video footage for Celebration Day was shot in some studio wherehouse long after the MSG performance. At the real concert, during the drum break at the end of Rock and Roll, Page was handed the double neck to play Celebration day. The audio is the double neck.

  • oh they are all bootleg recordings put with video even more clever but still stand by what i said earlier.

  • this celebration day sounds like a bootleg if im not mistaken. lol clever clever. but would have sounded better with the new versions of each song, put together in video, even with a full video edit of black dog, from the song remains the same and the dvd second disc, with the middle section but back in. that would be nice. or just a full uncut blu ray release of some zeppelin concerts would be nice too.

  • Where did you get this video?

  • Celebration day too amazing

  • MONSTER bass

  • This footage contains a different night than the movie or soundtrack for Rock and Roll. As for Celebration Day, from 6:24 on this is the version originally used on the soundtrack back in the 70s. It was chopped. In other words, the original release was a splice of two nights for Celebration Day. However, the newer release of the soundtrack contains a different night altogether.

  • @bill4long The original has it starting with the 28th with the ending solo from the 29th, the new version has the full version from the 28th.

  • Haha funny story about his shirt. I was at a store called Valley Girl in Perth and I saw a bolero (cropped jacket thingy) that looked exactly like that. I freaked out and was like, "Oh my god I have to get this!". I forgot the point of my story.

  • Thanks so much for this, the Song Remains The Same film doesn't include this, Only the soundtrack

  • 7;00 on. the epitome of rock music

  • lets just keep it at 69 like huh what do u say?

  • This is an interesting post. Bruno - for those of you who haven't noticed - has transposed a bootleg from the 73? tour over the footage from The Song Remains the Same. Nice one mate. Was this a different night at New York from the footage we saw in the original film Bruno?

  • John Paul Jones, thumping away - locked in with Bonzo - Page and Plant can do whatever they want to. Sounds great.

  • This band will never make it big.

  • It seems as if people keep putting the video for this with different recordings of them playing... A lot of it doesn't sync up...

  • will there be another band that will come remotely close to these guys!!!

  • 73 tour was good. Heavy with a lot of funk in those shows. Nothing goes down heavier than Zeppelin.

  • @MrSistermaryelephant maybe sabbath

  • ITS ON THE EXTRA DVD , THERE IS OVER THE HILLS TOO AND MIRTY MOUNTAIN HOP

I WONDER WHY THEY DIDNT PUT THE EXTENDED EDITION ON STREET RIGHT NOW

    ILL BUY

  • AHH to wear the dragon suit...I'd fight to the death for it.

  • I've been a Zep fan since my childhood back in the early 70s and no band has ever come close. For me, Celebration Day shows JP at his peak. I've always treasured the live version of this from the Song Remains The Same.

  • Not much better than Page playing a Les Paul through a dimed Marshall.

And JPJ kicks ass as well.

  • Where did the footage of Celebration Day come from ?

I know in the movie " Song Remains the Same "

they cut from " Rock and Roll " to " Black Dog "...

Seen it at least 100 times..

where where did ya find it ?

    And Thanks////////

  • @scitsalcoryp In the 2007 re-release, they included Celebration Day (along with a couple extra songs) in the extra features. I assume all he did was edit the two together.

  • Put on the head phones, turn up to 11 and close your eyes. It will shake your boo boo. Heavy as fuck.

  • @MrSistermaryelephant wow thats exactly what im doing. and i dig what your saying

  • Felt like the hand of god was stroking my face as. I watched this.

  • 2:12 smile like me in 2011

  • 2:12 smile like me in 2011 Roberto gime five bucks for sedate my jaw he je

  • I agree with "mikerud": I prefer Celebration Day too, especially with the greatest guitar solo I have ever heard form Jimmy Page. Listen to the 7:01-8:06 period of this video and hear what you can hear. What a school to study how we should play the guitar in riffly, bluesly and rockly. Thanks for Jimmy Page for all the improvised musical riffs and ideas he did share with us.

  • What is there to be upset about? As a LIVE act, Zeppelin set the bar for the entire industry and nobody has come close to hurdling over that bar. Check out their stuff from 1975 at Earl's Court. Trampled Under Foot in particular.

  • Robert Plant is a Giant I mean as vocalist :P

  • Good job on splicing these two together!

  • huge Zep fan here, but does anyone else kind of get pissed off at the quality of Zeps live work?

  • @RyZombie619

    Nope!

  • @crossxca YEP

  • @crossxca is that all you got to say? nope?! lol. I mean come on, think rationally

  • I like this better than edited movie version...the sound board. Listen to this with head phones at volume 11 with eyes closed. Imagine what it would sound to be 5th row center. The sound would just penetrate and consume your body. LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN were sonic wizards.

  • This video is from which DVD? Dosen`t seem from The Song Remains The Same.......

  • Absolutely love Zeppelin, but this is like watching a Japanese Godzilla movie, the sound isn't even close to the video

  • John Paul Jones is THE man. Saw him in Denver earlier this year with Them Crooked Vultures. Dave Grohl on drums and Jonesy on bass was awesome, not Bonham/Jones awesome, but still a delight to see.

  • 5:16 = Best rhythm section ever..

  • JPJ rules!

  • My God, they really were a force of nature, and Jimmy Page, in my opinion, is the greatest guitarist EVER, bar NONE. I can't think of any other guitarist who can play that many different styles and has that amount of creativity. Brian May is also great, but Jimmy is truly phenomenal.

  • @quantana927 Stevie Ray Vaughan, Van Halen, Clapton, Satriani, yeah Brian May, Blackmore, Hendrix, those are probably the only ones that can be in the same discussion as Page.

  • Please don't tell me this is the official reissue release of the movie SONG REMAINS THE SAME! audio out pf sync with vid!!!!ouch! TM THE ZEPPELIN BAND BOSTON

  • 7:37... so SICK! Jimmy, THANK YOU. Thank you to all the circumstances that brought Led Zepplin to be. Miss you John... it's been 30 years today.

  • out fo sync at the end of rock and roll

  • I've heard plant was sick this day, influenza or something like that. That's the only thing that could explain the voice...

  • GET EM JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of Jimmy finest solos! IMO..

  • Damn! That is a ROCK CONCERT!

  • I actually prefer Celebration Day.

    Some monster bass in this.

  • @mikedrud hell yeah

  • @mikedrud

  • Not sure why they removed "Celebration Day" from the film..it's an awesome song. But is obvious why another night's version of "R&R" was used.

  • robert got his shirt in the children's department at sears

  • @bigjim10011 Well duh.....

  • @bigjim10011 See, I'm not the only one who thinks that. When I listen to Zepp, I don't want to see that shirt in my minds eye. Damn Robert's taste in clothes got screwed up. Just try to picture him in manly tough guy clothes. Hmmm, imagining charles bronson, clint eastwood....Not the todler girlie shirt. Rock on Robert!

  • @bigjim10011 seras pendejo es lo que menos importa!

  • @garguerodeoro1 huh?

  • @bigjim10011 So? That's where I get all my clothes...

  • The Fuckin Hammer of The Gods

  • @AllenWestlake studio is better? HAHAHAHAHAHA no.. zeppelin live = better than studio versions

  • @NateageIV you kidding me? this version is better than the studio version from '71? Robert's voice is shot to hell in this version.

  • this was all the same night few songs were cut out in the movie

  • id love to explain the original editing od the song, but its just hard to explan. just visit the garden tapes if you wanna know how TSRTS was made.

  • jpj is on fire!

  • Original Recording. Rock n Roll, Plants warm up song. Take note kids; this is pure unadulterated balls out rock and roll. We'll never see the likes of this again. Raw, when rock was pure imperfection, not all sterile like the manufactured stuff today. This is truly when giants walked the earth

  • hey where did you get this? i have the botleg from the other night, but i've been looking for this one, could you send it to me, or point me in the right direction??

  • Nope, it was a different night

  • lol its a little out of snyc but aweosme video

  • We miss you Bonzo!

  • obviously an alternate night than one that made it on the movie

  • @kornbelt tehy cut some songs out of the movie. wasnt a differnt night its easy to cut stuff out they took celebration out of the movie and skipped it on to black dog.

  • @NateageIV

which black dog was also cut right into the solo...

  • @LinkBulletBill true

  • @NateageIV

They should release a version showing all full-length songs and footage (as possible) of the performances in correct order... And that would be awesome!

The only I noticed that they couldn't capture the footage were toward the end, it cut during the middle of the Heartbreaker solo and spots throughout Whole Lotta Love, which you see two different guitars and Jonesy wearing two outfits while watching The Song Remains The Same...

  • @LinkBulletBill this guy messed on on the snync with this video lol the audio is the real night but the footage is not with it lol

  • @NateageIV

Well it's not sync, but it is the real footage of Celebration Day and Rock And Roll... Maybe this user took the video of The Song Remains The Same and took the audio version and mixed it, but since the version of The Song Remains The Same was increased by 1% of speed thus increasing all notes by half a step, the user wanted to have the original key, so he mixed it, but it didn't all quite work... Just making the audio not sync with Rock And Roll, but for Celebration Day it is clear.

  • @LinkBulletBill

    From Sunday July 29th

In TSRTS we see most of the songs are from Friday July 27th except for: "The song remains the same; The rain song and the end of Stairway to heaven ". Bits and pieces of Saturday July 28th and Sunday July 29th are mixed in throughout the movie and CD.

  • @kornbelt no songs were cut out get the new TSRTS movie and they use the real set and nothing cut out

  • What's the name of that last song "the one with just the music"?

  • Bring It On Home.

But it probably stops where the video stops and goes into Black Dog.

  • Yahoo

  • good job

  • go job

  • *facepalm*

  • this is how it went down before it got all cut to shit.

  • I hate to break it to you guys, but this video is simply visuals from the DVD dubbed with a bootleg audio copy of the first 2 songs of the show as they actually sounded on one of the three nights. Didn't you notice the extreme sync problems...even worse than we've become accustomed to in the Song Remains the Same? That's why the new official live audio version of Celebration Day has a different 2nd solo. Eh, too much to explain here...just google 'The Garden Tapes' and learn for yourselves...

  • its the third night of the song remains the same the last night they played thank you at the end of this concert ihave every boot of these shows great 2 and yeah this one was distorted terribly

  • Best to summarize for those that haven't read "The Garden Tapes"...it's was Jonesy's fault, he kept changing his wig and onion sewn shirts. :)

  • "uuhh yeaeh...it´s been a long time/ since I Rock And Rolled...it´s been a long time/ since I did the stroll..."

    LOVE IT! pure sex onstage!

and page forms the words "lonely, lonely, lonley" with his lips :D

although that´s sort of a bad audio quality, but that´s common with copies off DVDs

love celeb day, fresh, severe and hot song of early 70ties, never gets old, one of their best three-minutes classic songs :) 5/5

  • Page rightfully gets a lot of the attention, but the bass on Celebration Day is sick.

  • what can u say? jonsey is one a groovy fucker!!

  • I've got this dvd but "celebration day" doesn't appear (?)

  • its on the double dvd, the first one labeled "The Film" second labeled "Extras" its on the 2nd dvd

  • jpj is so good at the base, hes like the second guitarist

  • best version of celebration day ever heard.

the second solo is just amazing
