Steckel didn't even hit him, they collided. He also hasn't returned and history is made by those in the trenches (of the game or the gym to recovery) all he's done is sit on his couch in the dark until his headaches go away. Can't fault him for it but it's not exactly epic.

damn, apparently you all didnt know but he got blind sided by the cheap ass caps, then underwent concussion examine, was given the option to sit out or play and he chose to play, then he gets checked from behind and hits his head. are teams head hunting now ? and apparently some of you havent had a 2nd or 3rd degree concussion. Crosby is the man and every Pens fan supports him with whatever decision he makes about coming back HEALTHY.

Sports science did a thing on that hit. It was compared to hits like Richards on Booth, and Campbell on Umberger, and it was proven that the hit Crosby took was the hardest headshot ever. Mainly due to the fact all Steckel got was Crosby's head. Anyone who has had a concussion knows how rough it can be. All of you saying he's a pussy for not playing should see what it's like having a severe concussion, not being able to do anything without getting dizzy. Ask Justin Morneau...

Malkin was outscored by not only Crosby on his team, but also Tyler Kennedy, Kris Letang, and Chris Kunitz (of course, they all played more games, but if Malkin's /that/ good, it shouldn't have happened). now please remind me again how Crosby is nothing without Malkin?

@Grimekat there was a group of engineers who researched the hit and simulated it with a crash test dummy. the dummy's head took a blow of more than 400 lbs of force. so what you just said basically is that if you can't play hockey from suffering more than a 400-lb force to the head, while in a resting position, you're a pussy. have you ever even played hockey?
