Technically this is not a funny story, as in ha-ha funny, more like odd story, not really funny. Come on Ben, it is one of many production war stories. Those of us in the industry have a million of them, it's not unusual. Like the day I was flying into Kingston, Jamaica and the camera gear didn;t arrive on the same flight... so I....(yes, I've got over 28 "funny stories" from that 3-week shoot there... so...?)

Many, many, many. You have to "qualify," which means you have to have a job, you have to pay taxes, you have to consent to give all of your personal information including address, so that you can be mailed a 1099 tax form. Not to mention that you can't be in a hurry because of all of the red tape that's necessary, so wherever you're going must not be all that important. Ben's awesome and so is the show, but forget not ALL of the legal wrangling that takes place before the cab even takes off.

@autarchicflux Are you serious, I highly doubt that, the whole point of the show is to surprise the people, that would be impossible if their signing a bunch of papers, I bet they just sign maybe one paper once the stop or something like that. Its a smooth operation, not a lawyer trial, and the money amounts are never ridiculous, so there really is no point to make it overly complicated.

You can doubt it, but it's true! Television networks are major corporations, and when they give out ANY amount of money as an entity, all of the proper paperwork needs to be filed for that. Proper legal paperwork ALWAYS has been done whenever you see anyone's face on television. They capture the surprise on camera, but then they edit out what is likely 5-10 minutes (if not more) wherein technical details are settled.
