im impressed, i've been learning bsl for 12 monhs self taught and can relate to having nerves about using BSL to comunicate. i've taught my daughter as well. your signing looks good. You've prob passed your signature exam by now no doubt. keep it up, yeah.
Your supposed to point to your chest first before you do the head sign which = 'my name is' (and then you spell your name "NIZ"). You also said you was "19" and not "18". You've made more mistakes as well. Such as (Sister, Dubai) etc.. You are good but the way you sign certain sentences arn't properly signed. You need to stop hesitating and be more fluent like you would while speaking. Your good though. Just keep practicing and you'll reach level 2 soon. I've passed my level 3 :)
@reg10x my mom learns bsl at university. she's learned it since she was 16 as my grandma learned it so she could help our church's deaf community. I know lots of deaf people from church and mom's uni and through my grandma and it's just nice to be able to communicate to them :)
@itzJaiCbledd nice! lol dont whisper it! nah jokes :L i know a bit of sign language and always use it to my advantage as i can say anything i want about a person to their face and they dont even know what im saying!! do u find it a big advantage in life?
@reg10x i find it an advantage when im having private chats to my mom in a big crowd of hearing people :) and when im in a deaf group :) but sometimes i sign sub-consciously whilst i speak :P
I thought that was very good. I am trying to learn bsl at home using youtube only and Im learning quite a bit. Do you think it is possible to become very good at bsl without having to do a course?
@camjamza im not sure about becoming VERY good, but ive not looked up any courses or w/e ive only picked up on watching my gf sign witing the last like 3 months, and even i have noticed how many errors are made in this.. im positive u dont need to do a course to be able to sign standard BSL.
@plymtown10 Hi Claire, if there are any universities near you they might teach it. Alternatively there might be deaf clubs/signing clubs or you might be able to find someone online near you. Niz xxx
@plymtown10 Cool, good luck! I'll try but I don't get in much practice, esp. as I learnt some French sign language here in France (year abroad). Niz xxx

Wow very good signing language. I am glad that you can do it and your signing is a smooth. I am deaf (hard of hearing). Also I do signing language as a child. But now my signing language is professional, neat and smooth. Your signing is a bit mistake but I wish I teach you proper sign. I have taugh to one of woman who do learning leavel 2 so i was helped her so now she is successful level 3 passed.
cool, well done, im level two and it was nice to refresh level one again. ! only onw thing though - you are mouthing a lot of the words, maybe you should be doing just facial expressions, blowing out etc instead???? but still thanks for the post- keep it up!

Hi, I looking it's fantastic your sign very good. So do you can come Harrow Deaf Social on 6th November at 6.30pm to 9.30pm I give you my email is Ajayshukla201@hotmail.com.
I was just brushing up before my pre level 2 assessment and wondered how you got on with level 1. I hope you passed all 3 units as your signing is good.
great video. I am currently practising my BSL and it is nice to read someone who is doing the signs a little slower. A lot of the people I chat to in BSL go far to fast for me to properly see what signs they are doing.
well done, im doing my second BSL exam tonight :) by the way, id say whenever you are signing, wear plain clothes and dark colours. All translaters do this because its not distracting. Just thought id say coz ur nails are cool but annoyed me when i was trying to read ur signs
I dont take sign language lessons, but have a deaf friends, and im glad to know ive picked up enough that I could understand most of that :) well done
My name is Chris and I am mid-way through BSL level one, I had to let you know what a pleasure to watch someone I could actually follow-very clear and a good speed for us students of BSL. Hope yr studies are going well.
hey Niz, my name is Darrel from UK in hull, iam profoundly deaf and fully speech. iam BSL expert and your video is great and you doing very well, keep practicing. By the way where you from? x
You're right, there are two ways to sign it - the V being the more PC way, however sign language is a very visual language and I just used the other one without thinking. Also, I am Indian and I don't consider it offensive - but I apologise if I did offend anyone.
hia i'm in my second yr of level 2 in BSL you did fab i wish i could sign like that after i did my level 1 =] keep up the good work!!! are you going to go on to do level 2 as well, you should you're brill!! x
Howdy! Aww thanks :). I'm sure you will be able to! Ihave now done my level 2 as well, last year but I haven't practiced much since then. Starting next Wednesday I will be practicing weekly with beginners though :).
Very good! I only started yesterday, so I had to read the captions when you were talking about your bedroom, but you signed very clearly and it wasn't too fast. Please make more of these videos, they're really helpful to us who are trying to learn BSL all the way from America! (My little neice, who's deaf, lives in Britain and I'm visiting them at Christmas, so I want to learn enough to talk to her without making her feel uncomfortable.)
I haven't used bsl over the summer but I'm practicing it every week now with those who are beginners. I don't have a cam at the mo so I can't make any just yet but I will make a new vid when I have it :). Nice to know it's useful .
My god, you did awesome! I love that you were able to contruct full sentences without hesitation. Looks like you're a natural with it! I started to teach myself last night and now a couple of things already, I hope I can get to your level soon. I want to communicate with someone, hehe. xx
Thanks very much! I was learning it at universit but have not had the opportunity to practice with *anyone* so I am beginning to forget some of the vocabulary - apart from the basic stuff.
Your look as though your doing great. I too am also learning BSL and am currently midway through level 1, when watching your video i covered the words and just read your signs which i understood fine, you are very clear and fluid when siging, well done Niz and good luck for your BSL exams.
I have completed Level one and have been 'brushing up' and found your video really helpful easy to follow because of the clear signing. Thank you.

i think the way u signed india is wrong, or i think old fashioned is a better term to use.
Sign language wasn't very PC years ago and quite a few signs would be deemed racist today.
like for africa one would make the sign for black and rub it on their face, for china one would stretch the eyelids using their fingers and so on.
india is now signed by pointing both index fingers out and dragging them down to a point thus making the shape of india \/
sokodaman 2 years ago
