  • I'm currently running CrunchBang on my 1.6ghz netbook, how willt his run on it?

  • well there is always Gnome-commander or similar for hard core file browsing :)

  • Nice tutorial.

  • which screencast do u use?

    congratulations, i'm using CentOS 6.2 'n' openSuSE 12.1

  • @DoctorJackBarrett

If I would have some office, then I would install it as a desktop os for my workers.

    That's why.

  • i know i'm pretty late with this comment, but you can enable the navigation bar in nautilus by installing 'gconf-editor', and enabling apps>nautilus>always_use_browser.

  • Real GNOME? Sold.

  • Bugs are non-existant? My application doesn't work... only on CentOS 6.0, I hope my mistake, but in other case... I will send another comment... bye

  • @visionlost GOT IT... in CentOS 6.0 there is not csh but only the new tcsh (csh improved): christos zoulas you make a mistake: I NEED THE OLD CSH!

  • Nice distro! Nice video, although i`m an Xubuntu user... It seams CentOS is really a nice one. Good job. maybe I will try it.

  • What exactly is an enterprise OS? I don't understand all the links I googled.

Like would this do good if I were to just install CentOS on one of my laptops and then used that, or is it like for big businesses?

  • @A135S4656 enterprise Os means that it is used mostly for servers and high workflow business areas but this doesn't mean that u can not use it in ur desktop or laptop..

  • This is the g shit for a LAMP setup!

  • there is an option that you need to enable in order to have an explorer for the file viewer

  • I see while I was away you finally got around to reviewing CentOS. Great review my friend! Keep up the great work!

  • Don't understand why there are so many dislikes, this is a great video and excellent overview!

  • @weeliano I thought the same thing. I have been watching some videos by InfinitelyGalactic and noticed that many of them have a considerable number of dislikes for no obvious reason. I just don't get it. All these overviews/reviews are very useful.

  • What is the name of that song in the intro/opening? I've heard it before but just cannot remember where or what it's called!

  • @4tooitous I think it's just called 'Travel'. It's just a simple loop that I got from the iLife DVD sound effect library a long time ago.

  • looks like windows 2000

  • So, can I keep CentOS' version of GNOME but update everything else?

  • @JeremyPassarelli Most of the apps you can...

  • @InfinitelyGalactic What about updating GNOME to version 2.32.x?

  • Dude, who are all these people hating on your videos? so many dislikes on all of them and from what seen so far they are all really good. Seems like someone doesn't like you.

  • To your knowledge, is it easy (or even advisable) to upgrade to a newer version of KDE? I wouldn't use Gnome 3 if my life depended on it :-p

  • Should we expect a Fedora 16 Alpha video soon?

  • @GrammarOfficer Not yet, once it's more stable I'll have a look into it. :-)

  • Great Linux Distro review! this is in my top 5 Enterprise distro list thank you for your quality reviews, they are very informational and helped me make a lotta decisions. 22 people failed at installing CentOS and decided to troll your video

  • Great review, as always. I love CentOS. I am building an FTP server soon and CentOS 6 will surely be my distro of choice. Did the installer give you the option of leaving things out, such as the games? I do not want any games at all, and want to strip it down as much as possible. Just curious.

Also, have you had a chance to check out Scientific Linux? It is another distro based off of RHEL.

    Thanks. :-)

  • @Makousen Yes, on the full install DVD, you can customize what packages you want to install. I've been thinking about Scientific Linux...I'll see if that's something to put in the pipeline. Thanks for the input :-)

  • please review susestudio

  • Linux Distro Reviews from you is like christmas morning!

  • Why do you make statements like "this'll work on any hardware you throw at it"?, for anyone using SandyBridge this wouldn't work for shit as kernel 3.1 is needed for proper support and even that isn't fully there yet, despite Intel launching it 3/4 of a year ago. The Linux graphics sub system is too crappy to even work with the on chip int' gpu.

Gnome .28 oh great !, and exactly what 'enterprises' on earth would use this astounding garbage.

  • Comment removed

  • @DumbBogan You know you can upgrade the kernel and flash versions to fix these, right?

You are simply just nitpicking and being negative nancy now. Stone that attitude, will you?

  • Great review - Thanks.

  • Good Stuff as Always man.... 0 dislikes... wait for it... LoL

  • That one guy is a good writer? Does he write zombies?

  • InfinityGalactic FTW! :D

  • great job, keep it up.
