Looks like the park-brake was engaged when it froze, so ice locked the springs. If you can get the rears moving the friction should melt the ice pretty quickly and you should be fine next time...
i had same problem in my opel, and the reason my rear brakes was frozen was that snow had gone in brake calibers and warmed and melted when i braked and then they just freezed inside the calibers and didnt allow wheel to turn.
