Raphael was my first ninja turtle toy. In the original movie, he has the most spotlight, he saved April from the Foot, took on the Foot by himself and went out fighting, and he went off hard when he found that Splinter was taken. Once Splinter is gone, all bets are off with Raph. He's up there with Wolverine from X-Men in my opinion. Berserk, hothead, loner, warrior. Everyone I know likes Raphael.

How is it that 20 years later this movie is still amazing? And I mean its a family film, loosely based on a kid's cartoon..yet it managed to be dark and depressing while still throwing humor in there.

This film was very emtional and serious for Ninja Turtles as most people relate TMNT with the 87 kids cartoon.

But many fail to see this movie was in fact an adaptation of the very first original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic of 1984. Which was very dark, gritty, serious, violent and in black and white by mirage studios and creators eastman and laird. (similar to batman and sin city, etc...)

Hence this film was alot more dark & different from da 87 cartoon we grew up wiv.

While the 1st Movie is like the Tim Burton Batman of the Ninja Turtles.

And the 2003 TMNT Cartoon as the 90s Batman Animated series equivilant.

I my eyes the timeline of TMNT isalmost parrell to the timeline of Batman's many different representation throughout the eras.
