If you find the 550 cord falling off the curved sides of the container, you can sew it into place with needle and thread to its neighboring cord, just use thread that can be pulled and broken easily when you need to.
Funny you should say that I did consider creating a mat of paracord that was stitched together and fastened down one side but the paracord is a nightmare to get through a sewing machine and the end result was not good. I also experimented with a fireproof cover for the whole tin using a converted soldering mat, this wasn’t a bad idea but the mating is rather stiff and would need metal studs to fasten.
@SurvivalKingK1 Yes, machine sewing is like sewing spaghetti, I was able to make a pouch with a shoulder strap from one piece of paracord for a container like the 212, it turned out OK, serviceable, but I was not totally satisfied with the finished product, but I may have another go at it. For the soldering mat could you use copper wire as thread.
Yes paracord and thread don't really mix do they but at least we tried it.
To be honest with the soldering mat it's no so much the sewing as I was using Kevlar thread it was the fact of cutting the mat to size. These para-arimid materials don't like being cut they un-thread before you have chance to edge them. Really a good thick leather with fire treatment would do a much more favourable job I think.
Yes it is like a gift wrapping, I'll take that as a compliment thank you. I find the neater the finish the stronger the wrap, that’s why you see me taking my time (also known as faffing about) in the video. Happy wrapping.
The split version of the K1 is designed to allow you to split the survival kit for storage or between group members. Sometimes I will use this kit with my go-bag in which case the kit is whipped together, as I have ample storage and other times I split the kit between the pockets on my sniper smock. When split each tin gets a single colour of cord so I know which gear is where. Each tin has a cross-over kit so if one gets lost you still have your essentials.

Seems like kind of a pointless thing to do.
