At 0:09-0:10 does anyone know what, if anything, it's called when he changes the direction of the poi to go in front and behind him parallel with his outstretched arms?
Also at 0:39-0:41 does anyone know if there's a name for what he does when he seems to do a weave, but under his armpit and wrapped over his shoulder.
These two moments seemed particularly impressive, although the whole thing was fantastic, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or videos to help me learn them.
@princessM0on Les echelles? Sont quoi? Je connais pas encore touts les mots de vocabulaire poi en francias. Peut-etre c'est un autre mot pour les arrets?
@basilolo. To each his own I guess. Sometimes when a pro videographer is having fun filming friends he simply plays around with the camera work and ignores the typical spinning trope of a boring wide shot. This wasn't filmed for the moves, or anything other then "hey, we were having fun".
I must admit that one... the camera action is horrible :P Seems that cameraman was really trying to not show us the best stuff. But spinning is awesome, your look is awesome, your pants are awesome and image quality (not the focus... Who the hell was operating it?) is awesome. Any idea what camcorder (or however you spell this strange word I found somewhere) was used to record this video?
@basilolo if I know Matt, it would have been shot on his 5D MKII with a 50mm SMC Takumar f/1.4 lens with manual focus, hence the constant shifts in focus. That lens hasn't been manufactured for the last 50 odd years and is awesome!
I like the way you go from "CONCENTRATING SERIOUS POI FACE" to that look as though you've just woken up and realised you've been doing poi, then back to SERIOUS POI FACE! :D
@JaxFlow You guys should check out some meteor spinning. I've gotten better at the triquetra/pendulum but it's still nothing compared to what meteor spinners do.
lol, the inside stalllls from the antispin in x plans, i thought i was the only person to be playing with them........ always nice to be humbled... i have a few twist that i still dident see, but using the stall point in front of you... awesome!
@sirspinalot420 There's a lot of stuff to be found in the diagonals. Starting with full extension pirouettes and the same with a four petal anti-spin. The stall point can also be used to switch in and out of wall plane. From that first pattern the poi come through in a quarter-time arm position flower.
I love the cheeky up-down-stall-switchy-things (do they have a proper name? :P ) like at 0:53. They may well be my next goal :P

@thetoobnoob Yup, they're called Stall Switches. You got it right the first time :)
I don't think the specific moves have been named yet but the concept is around in a couple of videos I've seen.

I don't know what the first thing was, but the thing at 39-41 was just part of a body tracer, or it can be a variation of a crosser.

@firemblemrules9 The first thing at 0:09 is In-spin stalls out and in again before heading off into Wall Plane flowers
The second thing at 0:39 is based on long arm weave, turning linking into huggies(crossers) and coming out again.

I love the combination of a pink fedora (or is that a homburg or trilby? I'm bad with hat identification) with green harem trousers. Rock on.
