  • curtis quote is pusherman in a song about cocaine!!! genius!!!!!! :-)

  • DB II = blues rock guitar god + sex god

  • 0:39 what an awesome lick

  • One of my Favorite Solos!

Anyone knows which Strat is He using?Year?

  • I f'n love Diggity Doyle B. This solo is just so smooth. Anyone know what effect he's using here?

  • Man, I just LOVE it when Doyle starts to shred like that.. dayammm

  • that is just so so soooo sweeeet solo! doyle's the best!

  • doyle is simply motherfuckin sick.

  • Ditto my man.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like he quote curtis mayfields "pusher man" ...awesome

  • I've had two copies of this fabulous twin DVD and they both stuffed up during ZZ Top which is my favourite bit.

  • ..Doyle is way way under-rated! Love the Curtis Mayfield quote in that!

  • @mrktwn I agree, I can't understand how he's not as popular (big industry definition) as John Mayer. His voice and guitar-playing are both so soulful and unique. He's one of the greats.

  • @mrktwn what's the quote? is it the dweedle dweedle bit? which curtis tune? love this solo!

  • @mrktwn ahh, pusherman. of course! such a tune!

  • DBFAN great to see someone recognized the beyond beauty of this solo. It's from another Universe!! I have never liked Clapton's guitar, but I see now that he was just bored out his mind playing night after night. Clapton's solo is just as great as i think Doyle has inspired him to really play.

  • Granted Bram's a great guitarist. But figure this out for me, he's playing a lefty, the cutaway is proper and all, then he strings it upside down and puts the hi-E on the top! I guess since he pulls instead of pushing to bend it doesn't matter, but WHY so backwards, I just dono!

  • Probably because he learned it that way at home when he was little. After all his dad's guitars where all righty guitars that he probably just flipped over. That's an educated guess at least......or he just wants to show off a little. Nothing wrong with that ^^

  • Actually, he used to practice by looking in the mirror ...and learned it that way because he thought it looked cooler in the mirror.....

    ROTFLMAO. I'm serious.

  • I guess its all personal preference...

Dick Dale, otis Rush, and Albert king are some other guys who do the same

  • besides the story that he just learned a righty guitar because everyone else had it (but he was lefty)

The pull and push (bending) is not really different. A guitarist does both with a right side up or upside down guitar. it's more of a habit/econmic playing syle, not really tone centered which can be attributed to playing an upside down guitar (although a down stroke is an up stroke when the guitar is upside down).

  • This solo was actually cut from the original version in concert. The original is kicking around in bootleg form somewhere.

    Good solo none the less.

  • No it wasn't cut. I have the Crossroads DVD. It's on there.

  • This is the same as the crossroads DVD - if you find the bootleg his solo was actually longer and they cut a large piece out for the DVD.

  • i give props to anyone who plays guitar with the high e on top and the low strings on the bottom.

  • my dad does. he is lefthanded and that is the only reason some people play that way. my father when started playing (almost 40 years ago) had no choice, because it was too expensive for him to buy his own guitar that time, and all he could have done was to turn guitar 180 and play;)

  • He could just restrung it like the left handed guitar today is, like Jimi Hendrix did with his guitars...

  • i wrote that guitar was too expensive for him to buy - so he could play only on borrowed one, and then, there was no possibility to restrung;)

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time. in my opinion. doyle is much better then clapton at this festival. learn thats its not about speed, its about making that guitar sing the notes you want it to sing for you and doyle does that amazingly. a perfect 10.

  • @souldistortion25 It's not a competition either, when will punters realise that everyone has a good and bad sets and nights. If you want competition go to a football game.

  • If Clapton digs Doyle enough to keep him around, I think most of you need to keep your opinions to yourselves.

  • I Agree!!!!

  • Doyle always get's the poor solos when he is with Clapton, and do you all know why? Because Clapton is the main star and first guitarist, and Doyle is second guitarist, and that's why Doyle dont get the hard parts and amazing soloes like Clapton plays, forexample in Crossroads Festival...

I advise you to look on Doyle's In The Flesh Tour with Roger Waters, then you'll see the real Doyle!

  • yeah, right playing Gilmour solos, which are already written - that is the only reason they're great...

  • Well, Doyle didnt copy gilmours playing, he added his own flavour to the songs.

  • I love his salute to Curtis Mayfields "Pusherman" melody around the 17sec mark. DB2 is tha MAN!

  • theres no way hes better than clapton but doyle is a great talent and songwritinr in his own right. kudos to him for this one, he was great at crossroads.

  • check out Claptons solo earlier in the same song...man he's on fire !

  • That's right, Clapton he's on fire, dude he rocks hard

  • great solo, but nobody can say that he is better than Clapton. Thats just stupid to say that. Clapton has been doin this for YEARS and hes a world icon. Doyle is great, but thats a dumb comment to say hes on another level than Clapton....learn your music

  • I saw Doyle alongside Clapton and Derek Trucks a few weeks ago here in Melbourne on Eric's current world tour. Wish I was there now...

  • Doyle's a bit sloppy, anyone else notice? I saw him play w/clapton twice, and the second time it was next to Derek Trucks and Clapton, and they made him sound like a fool. His solos are very anti-climactic

  • no disrespect to Clapton, but Doyle Bramhall feeds him here. Doyle Bramhall is on another level. frankly, he is his own genere.

  • LOL

Watch the entire performance (Clapton solo in this same song owns the poor Doyle) and i don't talk about I shot the sheriff at the same festival

    ...

  • There's something about this solo that I find mint, even though I don't rate him as a guitarist.
