The fastest way is to plant a lot of foreign fruit trees since each piece of fruit yields 500 bells, totaling 1500 per tree. The other method is selling turnips (placing them on tables so that they don't rot). I also like to fish and catch bugs during the profitable months which is usually during the summer. Finally, fossils and any extra furniture that you're willing to sell is easy pocket change. Have fun! :)
