  • Ritchie Blackmore a alma do Deep Purple.

  • Deep Purple is, and always will be, a kick ass band. Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, and Joe Lynn Turner are all fine vocalists and they all ROCK!

  • yeah freakin' out like back then :3

  • This song song sounds like a riop of the blues magoos 'You Ain't seen nothin yet

  • I love JLT and he still has an incredible voice. He's more than a pop singer having much more versatility than that. But, what the heck is going on at this concert -- I don't even recognize his voice except for some brief undertones.

  • As far as i'm concerned gillan can't sing anymore and joe lynn turner can still sing. ian gillan just massacres all the hits nowadays. and if i here smoke on the water with gillan singing one more time i'll go insane. its played all the time and having a different singer like joe lynn turner is a nice change. not to mention slaves and master did get into the top 10 on the billboard top 200 rock albums list. also i much prefer joe lynn turner singing black night and child in time over ian gillan.

  • @DPBESTSINGERJLT i agree in every possible way you´re mentioning here!!! JLT has a voice to sing. ian gillan actually could never really sing, just scream.

  • @DPBESTSINGERJLT

Well, fuck man. Gillan is like 68 now. I just seen them about 2 or 3 years ago and his performance was totally solid. Joe Lynn Turner, on the other hand, is a "good pop singer." Unfortunately, I don't like pop.

  • BLACK NIGHT WAS THE SECOND SONG IN THE SET.

IT WAS USED AS A WARM UP TRACK AFTER THE OPENER BURN,AND A NOD TO THEIR PAST & A THANKYOU TO THEIR FANS.

IT WAS PROBABLY NOT JOES IDEA TO DO THIS.

HE ONLY SINGS ONE VERSE OF CHILD IN TIME AND IS NOT ATTEMPTING TO OUTSING IAN GILLAN SO WHY ALL THE FUSS.

HE ONLY SINGS A COUPLE OF BARS OF LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL.

THE REAL MEAT OF THIS TOUR CAME AFTER THIS SONG.

TRUTH HURTS WHERE RITCHIE IMPROVISED,THE CUT RUNS DEEP,FIRE IN THE BASEMENT AND KING OF DREAMS.

  • IAN GILLAN LEFT SO THEY LOOKED FOR ANOTHER SINGER.

EVENTUALLY AFTER TRYING OUT VARIOUS SINGERS THEY CALLED JOE UP AND HE SANG LIKE AN ANGEL SO THEY ASKED HIM TO JOIN THE BAND.

HE'S A GREAT SINGER AND SINGS EVERY ERA OF DEEP PURPLE WELL.

HE IS NOT IAN GILLAN AND OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS IAN'S SONG BUT JOE SINGS IT FINE!

RITCHIE DOESN'T PLAY THE EXTENDED GUITAR IMPROVISATION WHICH IS WHAT MADE THE ORIGINAL SONG-IT'S NOT JOE'S FAULT!!

IT IS A LIVE SNIPPET(INTERPOLATION/) AS A BONUS FOR THE FANS.

  • What's with all the JLT hate? he rules!

  • I will have to agree with you my friend! I dont like Joe Lynn Turner, But Ian blew his voice out during his stint with Black Sabbath, but compare Ian back in 1970 to Joe Lynn Turner and Joe Lynn aint got shit on Ian Gillan!

  • you know what joe lynn turner is an incredible singer and i believe him to be a heck of a lot better then ian gillan. you might not like joe lynn turner but he unlikely gillan never performed drunk. there's a video of ian gillan massacring highway star on youtube. it should be the fourth link he screws it up badly. not to mention slaves and masters is in my opinion the best purple album ever released no questions asked cause at least there's more then 1 good song on the album

  • @DPBESTSINGERJLT

Slaves and Master DPs best album eh.....check out a place called reality when u have the time^^^^^^

  • @DPBESTSINGERJLT There are no good songs on the album, because there are no songs on the album. It is AOR corporate noise.

  • he massacred Child in Time... this song is a holiness, what did he do with it?

  • oh my god, this is just so horrible!

  • JLT sucks, he looks like a fag, really. I can accept David Coverdale but for heaven's sake Mr. Fag............

  • Horrible. joe lynn turner jamas debio integrar la mejor banda del planeta. No le da la voz ni la imagen.

  • fuck you all just enjoy the music

  • Comment removed

  • oh but it is

  • Dont over think it guys they were thinking retire money back then and they got it but still very good imo

  • this isnt bad, he's got a good voice

  • Gillan is the best. Joe Lynn Turner had no business playing in Deep Purple.

  • I totally agree with you

  • He joined Purple because Blackmore wanted him and as is usual Blackmore got his way.

  • @brazilian1977

Holy shit that vocal on Child in Time was brutal

  • Hmm not as bad as watching Tommy Bolin self destruct at the Liverpool empire with Purple. Christ that was sad and embarassing to see the bad so poor.

  • Poor Tommy! With that man's talent, things could have been so very different, but once you get into the clutches of "H", its downhill all the way. Glenn Hughes, who thankfully cleaned himself up, could have easily gone the same way!

  • Tommy played pretty good for most of Liverpool,David and Glenn on the other hand.....................

  • What hapaned than? sorry for my english

  • Ian......nuff said

  • They should grant Gillan some sort of legal right to forbid anyone else from trying to cover Child in Time. It just doesn't work. Ronnie James Dio... maybe. And Glenn Hughes... maybe, as SilverTongue85 suggested. But no one else.

  • Rod Evans??? lol

  • Blackmore loved the fact that Joe was in the band...Jon and Ian Paice hated his stage appearance and showmanship....Roger was stuck in the middle. 'Slaves & Masters' is good, but Gillan is the best voice in Deep Purple.

  • If they should have done a medley of it, then they should have done it instrumental. Joe is a great singer, but NOT for this song. I've heard rumours of the band actually rehearsing a full version of this prior to the 'Slaves & Masters' tour, but it was abandoned....and I'm glad it was. People will give me thumbs down, but I'm really a JLT fan. Have all his solo albums and the Hughes/Turner project etc. The Turner era in Rainbow is my favourite, but this was just sad to listen to. Sorry Joe...

  • the best version of Child In Time -Black Night is with Ian Gillan ,is the best voice of Heavy Metal,EVER AND EVER.lol.

  • What the fuck this prick did with Child In Time ???

He took all the heart, the feeling, the sorrow...the SOUL of the song.

I rather see Gillan struggling with the high notes, but but putting heart on his voice than see this short motherfucker showing off his hair and his leather pants instead of singing.

  • Very well put! I love Joe's singing, but this was awful. Only one member of DP should sing 'Child In Time', though back in the mid 70's, it would have been interesting to hear Glenn Hughes try it, as he could hit the notes and sing with passion...not in the same way as Gillan of course, but Coverdale could never do it.

I as well would rather listen to Gillan not reaching the highest notes, with help from Steve etc. playing highpitched guitar during the highest notes, than JLT butcher it.

  • @SilverTounge85

ACTUALLY DAVID DID SING A VERSE OF THIS-I HAVE IT ON CD!

WHY DO YOU ALL HAVE TO COMPARE DIFFERENT SINGERS ALL THE TIME.

EACH SINGER IN DP AND RAINBOW IS GREAT! THEY ALL HAVE SONGS THAT SUIT THEM BETTER PROBABLY THE SONGS THEY WROTE THE VOCALS FOR-OBVIOUSLY!!

I HAVE NEVER HEARD GILLAN SING AND DEEP PURPLE 111 OR RAINBOW SONGS-WONDER WHY?

I PREFER DEEP PURPLE MK111 AND JOE IS ONE OF MY FCAVOURITE SINGERS.

THAT DOESNT MEAN I CANT APPRECIATE IG OR RJD TOO!.

  • LoL!!!! something is not right here?

Glover n Blackmore combination is out!!!

  • I've been trying to learn a bit about all the different Purple lineups, and honestly I have tried listening to a number of songs by this lineup on here, but I really think that Turner could be the most talentless knob I've ever heard in my life.

  • I don't really like this lineup. But it's decent, and there was still life in Ritchie

  • Something here is not quite right.

  • 3:22 didn't know turner could dance like michael jackson

  • Impossible how can one man use three hardrock classics to make pop-rock performance.

  • he sings well that songs that were written for him!

  • Turner really sucks!!!!!!!

  • i agree

  • never heard JLT singing long live rock'n'roll and that was poor

  • Joe Lynn Turner gained attention fronting for Fandango, a band that featured the first Deep Purple bassist Nicky Simpor. They were on RCA I think, and one review I read had Turner as a real stand-out vocalist.

  • Not so.... two completely different Fandango's, one gloriously British and one American. Btw, Turner is a poser after Rainbow, where he wasn't much better.

  • Joe Lynn turned came into Deep Purple, because they couldn´t find a new frontman?? Weird.

  • METAL O YEAH

  • it is... divine

who is singing? is tgis Gillan? sorry for my lack of education

  • Hi Dionizzzm, I *think* that's Joe Lynn Turner...

  • thank you very much

  • simplemente el dios dios de la guiatrra richie blackmore

  • first time i've seen a performance of deep purple with joe lynn turner, so thanks for this

  • joe lynn turner didn't belong in purple.

he came from american pop background they come from british rock'n'roll background. (ian Paice)

"joe lynn turner doesn't belong in purple, we just couldn't find anybody else who could sing" (Ian Paice)

but paice also said e has a magnificent instrument...his voice he really is good...just doesn't belong there...

  • love the blackmore-glover dancing!

  • dad lurv them

  • Excellent Medley joe lynn turner is an awesome singer!!!

  • gillan ? who is that ? look for gillan inn, and see how many people in the audience,

gillan survives in the glory of Purple,

used to like him friend, but not any more

  • the lyrics are from Gillan, remember. And every singer of Deep Purple was a great singer. But Gillan is the story of Purple, and he's story now.

  • I must disagree. imo, The story/foundation behind purple is Lord Blackmore Paice...

  • and great band

  • great video great song

  • es purple nada q decir solo apreciar

  • Joe is a brilliant singer & ritchie is one hell of a guitarist they should do something together again

  • great!!! Purple was fantastic with joe. There's some cool live stuff on youtube of that incarnation or purple. If you have some time please take a look at our life version of when a blind man cries on the dandyloon channel.
