thats a g wagen for ya, if you got the money for it. land rovers and other alternatives will never be as good. they might be able to climb like it but they sure as hell cannot take the abuse that a G can. its engine is indestructable
why's everybody gotta turn every car/truck video into america vs. the world? I'm american, but i'm not an idiot...surprise. I don't live in a fantasy world where everything built here is the greatest...but neither should anyone else...in any country. This climb was impressive. But yes, it can be done by other vehicles.

These wagons are the gayest i have seen. They come nowhere near the performance of the H1 hummer which costs less. These cars are for gay men. Who hauls a family in the woods anyways?
This vid shows hard packed dirt, not loose sand. And at an angle like this its not even a problem for my 79 ford bronco. FAIL 0 stars.
You'll have to excuse him. He obviously is american and not well versed in 4wd's.
In america we only got one option for the G Wagon. It was full luxury, big gas guzzling V8 and had a price tag well over $100,000.
If he knew anything he'd know they came less equipped, 2 door & with a Diesel engine. But like most of us he'd rather just shoot his big mouth off & piss somebody off b/c he's angry about something. Prolly bills, taxes, or he doesn't make enough $ for his trophy wife. I don't know.
No, not yet. I'm not sure if I want to buy another brand. I like the new Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon ;-) and the Hummer H3 Alpha with V8 engine is great to drive too.
I know here in the states the rubicon is a stout off road vehicle, but the U.S. version of the hummer is doing poorly as a dependable vehicle, poor service record :( what about the Hylux ? or maybe go big and get a 70 series Land Cruiser or even a Nissan patrol ? From a guy who once owned a G-wagon, I feel certain you wouldn't be disappointed with the last two.
wescobts, I want something realy tough and with a front diff locker. So G and Rubicon seam to be the only ones wich have that. I will testdrive a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi, wich has Quadradrive II traction system. Only negative is the lack of ground clearance :-(
You can buy front locker. Almost for all cars that is avaible from some locker manufacturer. GC's locker is autolocker, it is not any better than a car whit rear locker and traction control.
@wodanowitz Negative. If you are in the US look for a E locker equipped Landcruiser 80 series. It's by far the best 4WD SUV ever imported here maybe besides the G Wagon. But only b/c there are way more than the G, & used they're $6k to $10k & not $40 or $50k like a used G. But they get @ 13highway :-( & as usual, no Diesel. Thanks to lazy fatass crybaby americans. Don't bitch about high gas prices b/c you & I are responsible for it. Stay away from that Heep trac control crap, unibody & axles
@UbelFeuer the only problem with Humvee's are their long wheel base and very wide track, great for desert runs, going through mud and woods, and very steep hill climbs, but if you try to go through a slim path covered with big rocks, it will struggle big time, the geared axles are a thing of beauty on those things, but there are places that they wont even help. thats the advantage of the G wagon, same package on a body and shorter wheelbase, the only thing is missing is portal axles lol.
