However, creating jobs in unchartered waters will most likely be a waste of money. There's a guarantee of huge spending, but no guarantees of successful results. Green tech reminds me of nuclear missile shield tech under Reagan (Star Wars). A hugely costly failure.

Even if there's an isolated success story here and there (say, the Chevy Volt, maybe), it's suicidal in times of recession to spend massively on green projects that have failed in Germany, Japan, etc. Even if many jobs are eventually created, it could still be a total waste of money, like the billions invested in so many military aircraft that never got off the ground, or those that did, like the F-22, which Obama pulled the plug on.
