  • So that's where my favourite Dilla beat comes from!

  • After listening to this......my appreciation for Dilla's genius has been raised exponentially. And likewise for the Sylvers. Rock on!!

  • I love knowing true music. So good

  • Looks like two can win after all...

  • Jazzanova flipped this as well! Sweet chords <3

  • whoa dilla was doin this on his death bed....makin beats harder than most producers can do on a full night's sleep

  • huge

  • I believe that is Edmund singing lead

  • Who sings lead on this, Edmund, or Ricky.

  • I'd just like to point this out. On "Two Can Win", Jay sped it up just right to make the singer sounds like Michael Jackson from his Jackson 5 years. Maybe it's coincidence but I thought it was clever.

  • lol...sorry my dude. thats wrong. whenever u hear a sample sped up its match the tempo of the beat mostly. in this case especially. this version is too slow for the drums Dilla layed on his verson.

  • Change the pitch on music program and its a non issue

  • he didnt speed it up to match micheal, he sped it up to make the beat, producers have been slowing and speeding shit up for years, where did u get that silly concept. its just the tempo he wanted to fuck with, hasd nothin to do with mike, all the heads like dilla and black milk praise the sylvers for being such dope artists, they wouldnt try to take away from them

  • @imcurtis206 I uploaded Two Can Win on my Channel

  • @imcurtis206 Yea i kno! thought it was michael at first! beaing a big J5 fan, thouht, how come i dont know this?? got me pissed... till i heard the sylvers!! ha! DILLA DAWG! THE GENIUS!!

  • @imcurtis206 also around 2:15, girl voice sounds a like michaels! and 2:31, str8 up michael for about 2 secs....had notice that i guess.

  • @Ostee1

a little , she sounds like him when he was real young

  • i meant health insted of help. lol

    im high as fuck. lol

    \

  • you get high too huh, hella

  • u gotta keep in mind that all of Donuts sounded raw like that cuz he was on his death bed. It was the idea that he even was still making beats and finding nice samples. Theres those out there who are healthy and cant sync a loop or find the beauty in a track. You know healthy Dilla wuldnt make a quick raw loop like that. He would perfect it. Its the thought that mattered. Inspirational actually.

  • Doggie, shit aint looped. If you listened to the whole track, you'd notice Dill took like, 5 different chops from this track and arranged them beautifully. Just thought I'd bring that to your attention. Glad though that you got love and respect for the greates producer ever. Donuts is a fuckin CRAZY ass record, everything about it. The circumstances under which it became, the samples, everything. Keep bumpin that raw shit and RIP JAY DEE!

  • good lookin out. idk if u produce...but certan parts of any beat have to be looped. cuz u cant just bang out for 3 mins and have a perfectbeat...especially wth his help. slices and loops make a beat. i appreciate the feedback. i respect u as a listener dude. Dilla is the ish and i never published it but flipped this sample as well and yeah lops are definitely involved incertain areas. big ups to man.

    one love

i ant hatin so if u reply i take it as constructive conversation. outta respect

  • Fa sho fa sho mane. I "try" to produce a lil bit. Shit is NOT easy! I got me a MPC3000, like Dill, and that fucker is so old and hard to use. They came out in 94. I'm to impatient to really make myself sit down and learn it, so, one day I think I'll finally make myself. Plus the manual is 250 some odd pages and some parts are so confusing they sound like their in a different language. I give Dill even more respect cause he didn't use a computer. You don't do you? What do you use?

  • man the 3000 is nice. any piece is nice as long as u know how to use em. i used to rock the 2000xl but my girl was pissed and broke it! lol since then i been rockin my 1000. On the real u gotta use a comp. not for the beat makig if u lie hardware but for the editing like pro tools. the bizness right there, plus if u want more sounds u can use comp. software like reason as a sound module but assign to ur mpc pads and bang out. Dilla is the reason i wanna produce man. bang out on that 3000!!!

  • I had this blasting through my Blackberry at work. Singing it too. I work outside and guests were like "look at this crazy fool".

Dilla had some pair of ears dude.

  • dilla beasted this. :P

    btw... 0:52

    anyone recognise that?

was that chemical brothers & fatlip - salmon dance?

  • i 2nd that .....he did his thing on it. R.I.P J dee

  • Has to be!

  • got damn Dilla FLIPPED THIS LIKE A PISSY MATTRESS

  • donuttttt yeah yeah i always wanted to know the real song, thx 4 putting it on , best donut song 1can win onlyyyy 1 can winYOUR LOVEEEEEEEE

  • c'mon baby light my fire.

  • Best donut

  • yeah tha bomb only one can win oOOonlyyyy

  • When I heard Dilla sample this on the Donuts album I couldn't get enough of it. I've found out he sampled it from the Sylvers. After I heard the original Only One Can Win, I became a Sylvers fan. I'm very surprised that old shool radio stations doesn't spin this track.

  • RIP Jay Dee

    Damn.

  • Props to this and Dilla's remake...I wouldnt have known about the original if not for Dilla;)

I thought it was a Jackson 5 remake.

  • Very interesting that you said that you thought it was the Jackson 5. There is another song by Foster Sylvers that a long time ago I thought was the Jackson 5. If you don't know, the song that I'm talking about is called "Misdemeanor" which was sampled for D.O.C.'s 1989 hit "It's Funky Enough".

  • rip dilla

  • I'm new to this... dilla is dead? ='(

  • yeah.. complications from lupas. word is he was still sampling songs in his hospital bed, which isn't hard to believe.

  • ='[

  • he died a few years back bro,,,,,,your late lol

  • are you serious?? talk about LATE.

  • love dillaa

  • Please dont mention Dilla when going back in time. Enjoy this for what it is. I love Dilla, and we all know what he did to this track, dont boast.

  • Listen to Dilla flip it..

  • this song was ahead of its time to me...if this song was released this year it would've been a bigger hit. this song is hot!

  • OMG, did you hear that high note at 2:11?? Music!!!!

  • OMG!I forgot this song existed. This was the jam!

  • The Sylvers are the Truth!

  • J Dilla- Donuts

  • This tune is the shit. I love them high notes.

  • the chorus has such a carefree floaty feel to it...picture driftin around on a sunny day. dilla really brought that feel to tha max when he banged it out

  • dilla all day

  • This shit makes me tear up. not even bullshittin at all.

    r>i>p>J DILLA and AERYN JACKSON

  • DILLA DILLA DILLA favorite sample from donuts!!!

  • @ElBoogieAmworld favorite??? come on...how about All I Do Is Think Of You? Jackson 5. Donut of the heart) or Light my fire?? anyway...guess its hard to argue just one! with DILLA! HAHA

  • hey this was used in a jazzanova song

  • yeah in "L.O.V.E. and You and I".

  • Beautiful!

  • what sylvers album is this off

  • Sylvers I

  • I gotta find that one, I only have Sylvers 2 and 3

  • what a great track... love the Sylvers earlier stuff, pre-"Boogie Fever"

  • where did j dilla get high pitch part?

  • Umm...

he pitcherd it with his sampler?

i'm not sure 'bout which one he used to make those deelicious donuts, i heard he had a boss sp-303, the same as madlib uses...but even if he did the donuts with his mpc, they would almost sound the same, i think.

  • but where? i didn't hear the singer sing that part in this song.

  • n/m i did

  • when he made the beat he just sped up the sample tempo ...DUH! -jk

  • 2:16

  • I bet if they rerelased this it would be a hit

  • Ive been trying to get my family to agree to re-record a lot of The Sylvers first songs.

    Angie.

  • that would SOO make ISIS happy...esp Fool's Paradise...Chaos, Cry of A Dreamer, Through The Love In My Heart...I Don't Need To Prove Myself, I Remember...yeah I'd love those to be remade....although these originals are just IT for me.

  • if you do angie, please do i aim to please,, i think thats the name of the song, i havent heard it in a long time

  • Real. I can imagine Dilla's face lighting up when he heard this. It's so excitin when you hear a record where, as a producer, you could use every part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Jay Dee made 7 versions with this record.

  • "one can win your love something something???" I love this hook part!! LOL

  • One can win your love and you must choose between the two/One can win your love the pain is eating me through and through...

Sounds like it goes from lovin' to love in the song too. Not sure...

  • Dilla's version is very tricky because he sped it up lol. Sos it sounds like he cut/skipped a word or two.. lol

  • this song is the shit!!!straight jumpoff

  • Peace to J Dilla.

  • donuts

  • damn am i the only one who samples off you tube lol??

  • i never herd the jdilla version.. so i guess its still a sampable sample!

  • you are very wrong my friend...leave this record alone! hahah

  • Thanks for posting this. Great song, great version by J Dilla as well.

  • DILLA sliced and diced the hell out of this jam. LIKE MINDS THINK ALIKE!! i bought the album this joint is on 12 YEARS AGO and was planning on freakin' it but JAMES YANCEY beat me to it! lol,lol.. R.I.P. DILLA!

  • This song is so sick. Love it.

  • props

  • damn, i was thinking jackson 5 did this song while listening to the dilla track. it was sped up though, lol.

  • Me too. I was convinced it was Jackson 5 until I saw the name.

  • Edmund was a great singer. RIP!

  • Tight song.I assuming Edmund is singing lead.

  • See, this is why I have to constantly give props to the early Sylvers albums. The music was/is/forever so heavy!!!

  • everyone check out THE LOOK OF LOVE.. a JDilla mixtape put together by q-tip. they use the jdilla sample of this song, with common on top.. it is absolutely beautiful. only about 1-2 mintues long but amazin.. i know its on other things too, i think.. but the mixtape as a whole everyone shoudl check out

  • yeah that was Termanology not common

  • This was used for J Dilla's "Two Can Win".

    Good upload.

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful song - I actually heard it first when sampled on J Dilla sample of this song title "Two Can Win" taken from his "Donuts album" ...

Do you know where I can find the lyrics to this tune.

    Great great tune!
