stupid ass previous owner put wheel locks on stock alloy rims for a pontiac g5 coupe. dumby didnt even have the key when i bought the car. assistance would be great
bought a car 4 days ago that had been sitting in a paddock for 2 years. No key for the lock nuts......tried this and had them all off in less than 3 minutes using only the one socket which is now back in my toolbox. Just amazing......scarey actually.
dont know whats the point in the video but you shouldnt youse a torque wrench to undo anything its a percition instrument so now youll overtighten all your bolts you relie on being right
i guess these are more to stop more opportunist thieves. I mean if i had to dick around with one lock nut at the side of the road for some wheels i wouldnt bother. They would more likely walk up the road and find easier prey
But of course the more knowledge prepared thief will have them off in no time
It's not that easy in real life. We had a one where the emergency mechanic had managed to snap the shaping inside clean off so we had to "adapt" a new one. Took us about 10 minutes with a large hammer and a long handled wrench to get one wheel off. Then about the same amount of time to get the bolt back out of the socket. Never though of throwing it at the floor, we just used a hammer and a vice to break it free.
I took mine off with a giant pair of channel locks... except one of them that was too frozen so I threaded another nut partially on and welded them together and just used a regular socket.
yea pretty sure that guy is caught on cam snipein them durrty ass wheels lol im pretty sure i got nicer rims than him and i got 16" plastic wheel covers
I know people that steal rims they never do everything in one night. one night they'll loosen your lug nuts and then the next night they'll take the wheels or if you have wheel locks they'll take one lock off a day because most people usaully dont check there lug nuts.
I remember doing this on my buddies car, he lost his key to remove the rim. He told me to remove all the tires it's a bitch to remove the lock from the socket once it's out
Just put it on a scree driver with the head going through the square end and bash it or supprisingly enough throw it at the floor, the shock release it..
I used a hardened steel whitworth socket that was slightly smaller than the locking nut. Forced it on with a 5lb mallet and then gave a sharp jolt on a torque wrench to try and minimize slipage..
The thieves in my neighborhood are not this smart.

can yu use the same socket for the other 3 rims, or do you need 4 sockets... no video says anything about that

Must be a world record :)

Hmm this works, but you risk stripping the thread, and you will mess up the socket and lock-nut. Good for an emergency though...

can ijust say, thiswould never workif the bolt/nut was tightened properly,
also trust me that method dont work, i had to get the proper lazer wheelnut remover set, mine were so tight not even the tool could undo them,

Locking nuts arent to stop people from stealing your wheels, No-one has ever claimed that. They just delay theives from doing so and slow them down.
Pollock274 1 year ago
Yeah, that's basically it. Defeating locking lugs is a "piece of cake". Locks are hardly a deterrent- False sense of securtiy, at best.

How to steal wheels. HAHA!
DODGEMEGACAB 3 years ago 2
yes.....BUT, if you have to whack on EVERY nut for EVERY wheel, then that's a lot more noise and time the guy has to be there.
Especially if they're trying to lift the wheels off a car parked in a driveway. (I just got my wheels ripped off last night.)

This isnt meant to show how to steal rims. Its meant to show how to take the lugs off if you lost your key for them.

That is a old way to do it but use a impack socket so you wont stuff your tools.
BADGTS 3 years ago
I tried that on mine, but no such luck. It worked like a charm to heat the socket first, pound it on, then cool it with water.
