Feel the need to clarify...it's sad because with such large crowds around it seems it would take away from that sort of 1 on 1 feeling you truly get by being there alone.
This is almost sad..i've been outta Chicago for many years now, but I remember when I was younger I'd go to every firehouse I could. When I was here I even got to go for a ride on T-2..a much older T-2. Now every video i've sat down and watched tonight shows huge crowds gathered around these houses. In my visits I was the only one there for most the day. I wonder where/when/why this huge fan base started for the CFD.
With great sadness, we report the Line of Duty Death of Christopher Wheatley, Chicago Fire Department Truck 2. Christopher fell from a height of about 35 feet while battling a fire in the West Loop. Despite the efforts of paramedics on the scene, Christopher succumbed to his injuries early this morning. Truck 2 is housed with Engine 5, Collapse Rig 5-2-1 and Ambulance 28 at 324 S. Des Plaines. Please keep his family, friends and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers.
Get rid of that imitation siren and put a real Q or a B&M siren on those trucks. Federal started using "outsourced" parts on their sirens. At least B&M is still manufactured in the USA using all US made parts.
The chairs and desk are the watch desk, theofficer duing the day and everybody in two hour shifts at night man it, unless they are out on a run there is always somebody "standing watch"
