great tips but remember not to defrag an ssd. An ssd fragmenting has no negative effect on speed but defragging an ssd has a negative effect on the life of your ssd. Keep that in mind
im getting a new computer, can i basically stick my harddrive into the new computer and EVERYTHING will be on the new computer like the windows 7 OS my data etc? and can i then move and use these files? Also it wont slow down the new comptuer will it becuase of the harddrive being older? sorry bit of a newb at this lol
Pirillo how do you get the photo snap shot of your glasses above the video? Inquiring minds want to know. Do video it will get lots of hits cause it makes your icon really stand out.
uuhhhmmmm..... when i update my windows, They said that "you are a victim of software counterfeiting" what should i do??? my friend said that i should backup my files and format it... is that right that i should backup my files and format it??? if he was right, can you tell me how to backup hehehe
hmmm how do u delete all ur history 4ever like 4ever i did everything my bro in law saya you have 2 insert sumthing and everything will b deleted the onlky way i kan do dat is by taking it 2 a store and they can delee eveyrthing off ._.
ahh i love when poeple at school say, ugh i did system recovery and lost all my files, then i laugh at them and say, "Its called a 32gb flash drive and the abilty to drag and drop" If you have more then 32gb of documents, pictures, music, videos, etc. You really dont need that much. XD.
I was asked to backup software (most of the software this person has the cd's are old and worn).. Is there any way to do this? I thought of accessing the setup files from program files but haven't attempted it. give me a call back if you have any idea
I have been through the no back-system but in a weired way.
I backed up most of my things like my documents and program setups so I don't have to suck bandwith when I restore but I never backup my truecrypt volume which had all my product keys.
What's the name of the external enclosure Chris mentioned? I have one from Thermaltake but honestly, it's flimsy and I don't really trust it. External enclusers are hard to shop for, so I'd love to know the name of this one!
well i have all my documents on a flash drive and a copy on an ext harddrive and all my videos and music on both the ext harddrive, ps3, and mp3 player so i'm not really worried about losing anything
help!!!! my internal Hard drive is making weird noises and i want to back up my hard drive but i'm more interested in backing up WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM INTO A EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE HOW DO I DO THAT PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ HELP!!!!!!!! I unfortunately lost my windows installation disk and i dont want to go out and buy another windows PLZZZZ HELPPPPPPPPPPPP
If anyone you know has the same manufacturer for your computer with the same os then you can borrow their's then use the activation key you got with the install disc.
If you lost that too then download a program called siw (system information for Windows) so then you can grab your product key and write it onto a peice of paper.
I keep most of my document, photo, video, audio files to a seperate partition, then to an external Hard drive, finally to the Web at the end of 2 weeks.
I use Carbonite. It does live offsite backups all the time. There's a lot of features it doesn't have, but it's cheap. It's a great supplement to ordinary backups, but probably not a good replacement for regular backups.
my sata drive broke a week ago as the people that i brought my pc from was putting in both sata power and 4 pin power into the hard drive and i think its basically over powered or overheated as i had been using my pc a lot in the last few weeks but it come with a 3 year warranty but i still lost every thing :(
Can the fact that sometimes my computer's fan sometimes seems to spaz out and go into overdrive meen my hard drive is going to fail? Because my parents say that when this comp craps out I will never get another...
thats your porb and after you install xp again you can get the drivers by windows updates alot of times anyways so about the other stuff your shit out of luck lol
When in bios, you should see something like "enable Hard drive S.M.A.R.T function". Enable that. The first error is kind of weird o.O But, if you're going into bios, you might as well disable the "display errors" function.
johnaiton i went into it and SIS Serial ATA mode was on RAID so i switched it over to IDE which fixed it but i havent been able to enable the hard drive S.M.A.R.T function

i get two errors when i start up my pc.
first error: sata device not found
second error: ide channel 1 hdd s.m.a.r.t master disk capability disabled.
the computer runs fine but i still dont want the erros and i think this happened because i changed something in the bios setup. can anyone help me?
pauldonald 4 years ago
Did you have some sort of power outage? Did you just install it and what is the type of HDD (brand)?
wyldestjoker 4 years ago
When in bios, you should see something like "enable Hard drive S.M.A.R.T function". Enable that. The first error is kind of weird o.O But, if you're going into bios, you might as well disable the "display errors" function.
boobyman 4 years ago
maybe he is just using ide drives only?

johnaitin yeah i am only using ide drives and maybe i activated something to search for a sata device
