I hope this dual screen and multitasking functionality gets baked into the base Android OS. I'm tired of manufacturers' skins fragmenting the OS and not receiving updates. Premature obsolescence is the result and the biggest drawback to Android devices.
AMAZING idea, the phone itself isnt too bad but it could have been a lot better, but once the idea catches on and more apps start appearing that take advantage of two screens they have the potential to replace normal smartphones AND tablets.
Saying the 2nd kind of apps "Don't work in tablet mode" is a poor choice of words, Dosen't take advantage of the 2 screens is more correct, but they DO "work".
I don't think this technology is perfected- which is fine with me- because I look at it as a gateway for other phone manufacturers to improve upon. That HTC 3-screened concept phone seemed better, by far, but I still give this phone, its concept and the idea of the technology, respect. More phones like this will come in the future. Hopefully.
I bet you could use spare parts, a free app from the market, to fix the apps not fitting to screen by disabling or enabling compatibility mode and rebooting. It does not require root so you could do it right out of the box.
Is it just me or does the interface look extremely laggy? I'm sorry but I can not stand laggy interfaces, it just dosen't 'feel' right, really frustrating.
Honestly that black bar is annoying. Why would anyone want this? If you want a phone the sizt of the Galaxy Tab...get a Galaxy Tab. Leave the Dual screens for Nintendo stuff
Let´s remember this is no HTC or Samsung we are talking about. Kyocera has not the experience of any of these two. And yet the went for a BIG shot with this device. Wich is ugly as hell, but yet this is one of the greatest ideas i´ve seen in a while and you will remeber in a future that it began with the Echo. ´Cos i know we will see dual screens in a couple of years from other companies.
I love how unbiased Brandon tries to stay throughout all his reviews. It helps keep the comments section clear of useless debates. And it helps get straight to the point of the video: the phone.
i'll be honest, i'm really impressed. far better than any android device i've ever seen (as far as versitility goes), but the only reasons why i don't want it? i need it to be a little bit faster, it can really use more horse power, and i wish it just looked better in general.
I don't really know if this phone will sell at all, it just doesn't fit today's market. Maybe if it would have come out a year ago, I don't know. But this is not a good look....
@drrobertoboogie97 I'm sure its going this direction. You'll have just a dock with keyboard and display attached. But this phone is a huge failure. Despite the look it seems to be terribly laggy. Notice that Brandon has barely anything installed, and the inboxes are empty...
Just using my HD2 with Android I have realized I been using my PC less and less. I get all my news on my mobile, manage my eStore, email, almost everything I needed my PC for. The only thing I am using my PC for is gaming lol
@thebamams Forget the looks, in my opinion, this is the worst phone design ever... Why put two small screens.. that's just not normal, it splits the image on two screens and you will permanently have that thick hinge that separates the screens... Just make a REGULAR TABLET... with a big screen.. This compromise of screen space vs size, will never work !
754?!?! My crappy LG phone is running at 2602!!......Isnt this supposed to be a fairly new phone?
As much as i love the idea of dual screen, their hardware really is killing this device.
Skooz 1 month ago
Additionally this phone should have been supplied with a dual core (one processor for each screen).
tekkenfreak715 1 month ago in playlist More videos from pocketnowvideo
The screens not being aligned properly is due to the top screen being slightly smaller.

You think they'll update the Echo to have faster and better phone usage?
TMEthan 9 months ago
@TMEthan It probably depends how popular this really is. If it was extremely popular I'm sure they will make another one.

Watch Apple, or HTC get involved with dual screens, and it'll be
all the rage, and what a lot of people start picking up. ha ha

Bad idea and bad execution! That black bar in the middle fails at every level.

Very nice idea bad execution
TheCrazy1One 10 months ago
Good idea but poor execution. Give it a dual core SOC like Tegra 2 and it should run faster can consume less battery because tasks get down sooner.
