  • One of the most perfectly selected soundtracks of all time. And still Costner's best movie.

  • Chills. Every time.

  • Magical! Love Pat & Fandango. Like a seamless summer dream...

  • great scene, great movie, great soundtrack, happy thanksgiving

  • this song brings back great memories from the 90's.it was used for the community calender for wwor channel 9 new york

  • I was 19. This scene revealed it all to me. You know what I mean.

  • @tommyrock69 yes, indeed !!!!

  • God I never cry...EVER. But, the final 3 scenes in this film -- all with Pat Metheny's greatest songs: "September 15th," "It's for You" and "Farmers Trust" are so perfectly placed in the film (plus "Blind Faith" at the end)...are just overwhelming. Really profound how this movie goes from being a buddy flick to a deep philosophical reflection on love, loss and "the privileges of youth."

  • Great scene, great movie.

    Genial escena, genial película.

    Thanks. Gracias :)

  • Best line in a movie: "have a nice life."

  • now i know where Breakbot gets his sound :)

  • ... it gives me the goose bumps everytime I play it. I guess it vibes with my inner cords.....

  • Ahhhh, man...... Austin Texas in the '70's! There's just nothing like it!

  • Does anyone know the last piano solo right at the very end? It is not on the Pat Metheny song it's for you?

  • This movie thus far I just watched is what I call a brilliant film. The soundtrack is also incredible. This is the that type of film that will have you thinking the whole time in utter amazement. Most definitely ill. It reminds me of people like my uncle who served in the vietnam war.

  • great funny movie yet sad... love this part.

  • Simply a magical piece of music... and genius improvised melodies on the guitar in the second half.

Nana Vasconcellos! Ce musicos est génial lui AUSSI!!!

  • Ahhh, Austin in the '70's...... Armadillo World Headquarters, Threadgill's, Mother Earth's, before Hippie Hollow was taken over by gays cruising for blow jobs in the bushes, before all the damn yuppies came to town and jacked up the prices of all the cool little shacks downtown and crowded the roads with their goddamn beamers, before "Central Market", there was the co-op over on Guadalupe, before "hike 'n bike" trails on Town Lake, houseboats you could live in.... goddamn yuppies ruined it all.

  • This, IMO, is one of the best scenes in movie history. The cinemetography, the music, the icons. So memorable and significant to so many generations. And, the culminating scene to a movie that launched the careers of two great actors.

  • que nostalgia entre musica e imagenes

  • best love story of alll times.it could be my product,so good it is.

  • This song and movie are amazing. Even though I'm young and I was not alive when this movie came out, I love it so much!

    <3

  • @melimelimelixo: you see, my son, bad taste has no age.

  • pat metheny music it's genious!!!

  • I watched Fandango in my teens and loved the film, and fell in love with the music. It was ten years later until I finally found out what the music was, (this is before the internet), and finally got the "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls" CD. Its For You is one of the most beautiful tracks I think I have ever heard. It is timeless, to me it is pure perfection.

  • @NHall1976

You are absolutely right. "It's For You" is Pat Metheny's greatest song. I have listened to all his music,

but he has never written and performed such an utterly heartstopping song.

It is almost too painful to listen to because it is so beautiful.

  • @NHall1976 . Same here. Saw the movie as a 17/18 year old, me and my friends all fell in love with it - it represented a lot to us when we were all at that transitional age into adulthood. I always loved these songs and never knew what they were until the wonders of the internet!

  • Orchestrion m' a deçu !

  • A really funny and entertaining film that ends with a moving and poignant twist...all

characters go their separate ways and like anyone who has had the privilege of college, you end up longing one day for the best friends you ever had...Metheny's "It's for You" perfectly caps that nostalgic feel...damn...

  • Beautiful, wistful, incredible. West Texas vistas, Pat Metheny, coming of age. I will never get tired of this.

  • so beautiful

  • @SuperVitasnella Ha bon?!!!

  • great movie, great Pat Metheny, beautiful Costner ;), and perfect video!:)

    bravo!!

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again. Some of the best melding of music and film ever in the history of movies.

  • @footrina Agreed..wholeheartedly....it's incredible.

  • Happy yet melancholy at the same time. The very ending of this picture makes me the saddest I've ever been from a movie (or a piece of music)

  • Like Casablanca's finale, this scene uses lost love as a metaphor for deeper moral and political issues. Suzy Amis represents America, which Gardener must leave to avoid the draft. When she walks away, Gardener realizes that he has lost his one chance for true love and also his country. Like Bogart, he sacrifices his happiness to achieve a greater good (i.e., defeating Nazism/opposition to the Vietnam War), and we come to understand the excruciating choices that confronted them and many others.

  • God, I love this.

  • life is just strange inst ? during all the movie we spect gardner would marry her. even knowing the right thing is she marry kenneth...

maybe if, in the end, something different happened, the movie wouldnt be so... touching.

Theres something in its sadness that really goes deep in our hearts...

or maybe its just me =]

  • My favorite scene no doubt! Metheny's music pulled it all together. No words necessary.

Eccezzionale.Con le musiche di Pat Metheny uniche.Da vedere e rivedere.

  • Pat Metheny is a timeless wonder. Kevin Costner - YUM!

  • My favorite scene in one of my favorite movies. Suzy Amis - Wow, what an impact for such a relatively small role. This character was a perfect example of an ideal woman with her head on straight in the midst of so many airhead roles now.

  • Words can not say what I feel !!!

  • sends goosebumps to remember that this was decades ago... at the same time making us feel how young we once were, and how beautiful to feel that some love... though lost still lingers on..

  • Everything about the movie was off the charts and then some. A relative unknown still to this day.

    Groovers.

  • This scene moves me so much because it remember me what I lived some years ago, when my girlfriend left me down to go with my best friend (they got married then and have got a baby). My life stopped there...

Pat Metheny is my favourit musician and this music is....MAGIC. What else?

  • @miocapitano7163 hey dude, life is agony to everyone. iam married with that i girl loved most, and we have awonderful baby, but i wake up and want to kill my self.the same when i try to sleep.but icarry on for everything i love, because of their pride.greeting frrom another world

  • moving, wondereful,...I love this scene. I hardly hold back my tears. The elegy of youth and friendship..and of the lost love...

Have a nice life!

  • "It's for You," followed by "Farmer's Trust" -- Two of Metheny's best songs ever.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Love and friendship are the most powerfull forces of us, the human beings.

A la orden player. Por cierto, tengo dos primos Puertoriqueños.

    Take care.

  • @jorgel216 what about gay love?

  • @player85f moving, wondereful,...I love this scene. I hardly hold back my tears. The elegy of youth and friendship..and of the lost love...

  • semplicemente splendido

  • I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it and with Suzy Amis when she showed up for the wedding. Now she has been married to Mr. Avatar for almost ten years. I hope he treats her well!

  • @bbrim1 My friend you are not the olny who were in love with her, I was too. Thanks for youe comment.

  • @jorgel216 That makes 3 of us, and she never spoke a word in the entire movie.

  • @paulie3jobs Sois belle et tais-toi!?

  • I am emotionally struck every time I see this film and hear this music. The, 'Good-bye, Friend/Have a Nice Life' scene ALWAYS gets me. So true. Life is just full of 'See ya' later's. Yes, here's to images of youth; indeed. Thank you.

  • I served in the military and I hated "goodbyes" when leaving an old duty station in preparation for a new duty station. I never, ever got use to that. I've met some good people over the years, never to see or hear from them again.

  • @willie33040 I too served in the military and experienced that exact thing. In fact, I've traveled alot over the years, Paris, lived a year and a half in London, and have left behind many a wonderful new acquaintance; great friends. I see them all in my head and not a day has passed. Not a gray hair has grown. I feel blessed to have known them at all, though. Favored by God that we were allowed to meet and share even a minute of our lives together.

  • @ssm3141 One night when I was stationed in Key West Florida, I was talking with a friend named Christopher Ellingham. He and I had talked about how we were both so drained emotionally because the military required us to move so much; leaving good people behind. He always talked about settling down. Wanted to stay close to family and friends. That was circa 1995 I think? I never heard from him again. Hopefully he got his wish. :)

  • @willie33040 Hey, Willie, there's always Facebook! And guess what else. I've had that same experience right down to the penny. I've met and bonded with all kinds of people. So many that, if I stewed on it, I'd be a lonesome somebody all the time. But if I only think about how good a time I had connecting with all these personalities that God brought into my space to teach me something about goodness, all I can do is smile while I continue on my journey. Try to think about it that way.

  • Next to my 30° years,

i dream a past in a country wild,

and realize that inside my tears

i feel still lost as a child.

  • @cazzeto That was beautiful thank you! I feel the same way.

  • Pat has meant so much in my life.

  • @trojone8 Robert, I totally agree with you, hes music inspire me when I'm on my work as a dentist. Thanks for your comment.

  • gary busey looked so young then...

  • @elijg127; Yes, he was 41 at that time (1985), but he was not in the movie, the groom is Sam Robards and he married Suzy Amis ( the bride), in real life after the movie.

  • best scene of the movie(bar the dom rock scene), but the music just goes perfectly with this scene and watching Costner to a Fandango was great!

  • Amazing!

  • This song. This movie remind me that love is all around. No matter where we are. One of the most romantic things I've ever heard. To drive around and listen to this song is one of my favorite things. It also brings to mind all of the us soldiers who fight regardless of whether we like our politics or not. It is so Americana.

  • one of my favorite songs.....lovely at best.

  • I heard these two got married in real life after the film was completed?

  • Yes, they were married from 1985 to 1993...

  • I love this song!

I play it in the Jeep when I have to travel. It's great driving music! Thanks for posting this jorgel216 - you're the best!

  • Glad you like it too !!!!

Thanks for your kind words, you too are the best !!!

  • My favorite song from my ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIE since 1985.... My best friend and I watched it until 1992 when he moved away.... eventually to Australia in '97..... He was Gardner and I was Phil, unfortunately.... My best bud was my inspiration to break out of my shell and explore the world....

  • i remember playing this song to death on good old vinyl..love it and the film.

  • wow this is a beautiful song love it thanks for posting! i never seen the movie but it looks like a good one!
