@VanillaBloodAntoniou Ha! When I'm teaching the beginner class at the gym I always correct the uppercut by saying,"not like Ryu!" It would be great if someone would growl "finish him!" at the end of fights like Mortal Combat, but alas.
I've seen fights lose on the day of because of what happens in the warm up room (e.g. warming up too soon or too late). I tell my charges to bring a towel and their ipod and relax in a corner and I'll warm them up when its time. I foound that this method calms them more than sitting around and talking. The ups and downs of amateur muay thai is a part of the experience though.
@123brownboy Totally; it can be so draining to wait like that. Angela actually looked like she'd been sleeping when she stepped into the ring. She must have been waiting a long time AND wasn't sure when I'd get there; couldn't have been fun.
@MasterKMuayThai What do you think would you do differently if and when you fight her again? If you can pinpoint one thing? (I'm always thinking like a coach! Time to think of the next bout!) I see your videos and clearly I don't think it's skill cause you have the tools already. She did look bigger than you and I assume she cuts weight.
@123brownboy She definitely did cut weight, but I'm not sure how much. She weighed in the day before, I weighed in 20 minutes before. But it wouldn't have been much different if we had weighed in together the day before. I knew she was going to be aggressive and I thought to myself that I'd take the fight to her, but it's just impossible to set up. I've got to work on my angles and keeping my arms tighter for the blocks so I can punch out of them. That's what I can see now.
@MasterKMuayThai Just a thought, have you tried just boxing? It will help with head movement and angles and punching faster. I feel you'd benefit from a couple of hours in a boxing gym. ;-) my two cents anyway!
@denmyos On the way back from my 2nd fight in Thailand there was a kid in the back of the truck who'd just lost and our trainer was giving him a long explanation about how you "win 2, lose one, then maybe win 4 and go to Bangkok, then you lose some," it was so funny and beautiful at the same time. "Win, lose, same same." I love it.
Don't drive and film at the same time .....it is dangerous.
