I sailed on this ship back in 2003 as engineer. Brings back some memories for me. The sound of that doxford chugging away. Spending hours at the control station manouvering through the locks. Great Vid!
Best engine Doxfords ever produced. Named after Percy Jackson, their chief engineer. Nice to see all of the guards in tact - they never where on the ships I sailed in!
Good video, engine noise is the clickety click, only seems to be running at about 60 RPM, hence it is quiet (ish). 4 cylinder 'J' type, built 1967. Lovely sight, could watch it for hours!! Ship was built at Redheads on the Tyne, not sure if the engine was built there or at Doxfords. Thanks tokieman, brings back great memories!!

Very nice video
An engine not to believe if not seen.
The main sound here I guess is from the aux. diesels.
Why is the main engine this silent?
Why no loud howling of the Turbo?
It should be no idle, or?

Is this an actual Doxford or a license-built engine?
