@La77a It's a sport with quite strict rules. Just like you don't see soccer players using their hands. In TKD it is much more effective to use kicks. They have a longer range, they are most powerful, and they fit into the guidelines of the rules the best. TKD isn't fighting, it is a sport which focusses on a small number of fighting techniques
arent they hot wearing jackets? they must have good central air there. In my dojo theres no windows or ac and it gets so hot when we sweat the glass steams up. wish we had some kind of air circulation besides a fan blowing our own sweaty air at us.
I do Taekwondo and i am preparing for my Black Belt, i work extremely hard these days and that is why i love Taekwondo : because you will never stop refining your work, your rapidity, your fluidity, your strength and more importantly your mental state. I have been beaten in several competitions but came back : i came back and won 2 Gold Medals in the province of Quebec 1 in Formes and 1 in sparring. Whenever the competition knocked me down i got back up and defeated them!!! NEVER BACK DOWN!!!!!
Folks, the United states needs to train their athletes this way, with this kind of intensity. I spent 4 years in Korea training this way and believe me when I say that they do this for a reason.
im going on a road trip in august. any martial artist who would like to make some new friends and practice a bit who lives in alabama, georgia, louisiana, nevada, arizona, texas, new nexico, mississippi, or california message me. take care
@chanmanwon I know this is a late comment, but it is a sick combination. I do both (but my first was TKD). Great knees and elbows with awesome footwork and fast kicks.
@riipMYjeans you can but first you must venture to korea and understand why they do this. you must fully commit yourself to training the way they do you must fully embrace their training. practice until you're bored, tired and exhausted when this happens something inside you will snap. and when it does you'll be an incredible athlete.
This is a tournament training video, if you want to do taekwondo competitions then yes you need to practice competition techniques.
Tae kwondo schools dont just teach tournament fighting, there is much more taught than that, just like any other martial art, WHY cant people understand that??
Of course in a real situation your not going to use fancy kicks derrr.
@tigress728 I respect your opinion as a practitioner of taekwondo, but has it ever occured to you that these "tournament kicks" are effective? and will work in a self defense situation? a Back kick is a very effective weapon I have used it in a self defense situation and I folded my opponent in half.
@loujencece the back kick is the strongest kick of tkd. cung le uses the back kick A LOT in his matches and i'm sure these guys will still know how to fight in a real life situation. as it always is, it depends on the fighter not the art itself. although i take tkd, i fight like a kickboxer. in a self defense situation any fighter must know how to fight in stand-up and ground which we lack. in the end taking more than 1 martial art is always better so youre well rounded
@tigress728 I respect your opinion as a fellow practitioner of taekwondo I urge you to not underestimate the effectiveness of these kicks. I know for a fact that they work in a self defense situation. take the back kick for example in a self defense situation I folded someone in half with this kick.
@loujencece I agree with everything you say, I was just replying to someone who has said Taekwondo was just for tournaments and not self defense but they have since been removed.I too know back kicks are an awesome defense move, very powerful plus many of the other kicks and hand techniques that others dont believe we use :o)
But this training is usless 4 a ral life situation. Those flexible dollo chagis are good only 4 scoring. WTF taekwondo is getting away from real martial art and values. :'(
@sandamalperera I disagree, the koreans know how to employ these tecniques in a real world situation, I've experienced this first hand while stationed in korea. BTW I spent 4 years there and most of it was spent off post training with the koreans away from the US Military.
dang i bet these guys are always trynna cut weight cuz they are all wearing like heavy duty jackets lol either that or they have no heat in their dojang
my god when they kick they r like floating, i need to practice more if i wanna be like that lolz, if i cant even take 5 kicks from an orange belt and a blue belt in the head without crying, then i have no chance in the olympics.
speed is power. But momentum brings more weight behind it. Imagine a round house that swings from 6 inches to target. compared to a 3 foot swing to the target. 3 feet will give it alot more power, but it will be slower becasue even though its fast, it will need time to travel the distance. So speed DOES=power but theres also build up involved and more build up = lots more power but reduction of speed. See what im saying? Im training WTF TKD aswell but i just thought ide point that bit out
Power=(1/2)x(mass)x(velocity)x(velocity) so yeah speed is power. With that equation you can see that losing speed in profit of build up will dramatically decrease power.
lol but that isnt the only point. its about teaching properly. I see so many "taekwondo masters" who probably cant hold a high side kick for over 30 secounds. Which is pitiful. shouldn't you learn the martial art and not just get a belt and think your belt color means your all that when you havent learned much.
That's hilarious.... why would you want to hold a sidekick for longer than it takes to hit someone with anyways? Flexability is great, but you need to have explosive flexability, which means you can kick high, but your muscles are not loose and weak, they're quick and powerful. Holding kicks high for a long time looks nice in "american style" martial arts, but is a useless skill. I do agree though, that too many people are "giving away" belts.
Idk its just something I've noticed. People trying to go faster but messing up their stances. My Korean Grandmaster told me that if you can't do a graceful side kick then why should you get a blackbelt. And get I see a multitude of people who think their hot stuff with black belts when their kicks have horrible form.
Most judo schools in the U.S are non-profit. Well maybe not most, but a significant portion of them.
Students (myself included) pay a small fee ranging between 20-50 dollars per month. The money goes towards expenses like electricity, heating, rent, etc and the instructors don't make money doing it, they do it because they WANT to do it.
lol... that is funny... racist prick... any one in this sport Can have speed and power. Its how you train man. Have your train in Water your kicking, Ever since I been doing that I have a lot more power and speed now... its not only the Koreans you Prick.
cool video. O guess its good to know that my school trains like a Korean university.
I also dunno who ever edited this video but it looks like it was sped up to make everyone seem faster than what they really are. I mean as a practitioner of TKD I can tell that they are kicking fast but someone sped this video up. i am sure of it.
Definitely not sped up. I've seen many practitioners this fast and even faster. In fact, I believe they are probably not going top speed because this is a long work out and they are tired or pacing themselves.
Yep...you can stay there ALLLLL day and you won't see ONE hand combination. Never mind WTF...WTP (What's The Point)?

its cause they are training properly sadly most of the art is watered down and based on making money in america.
