  • @SelfRevolution37 who are you, and you sound really idiotic, because you don't know me nor good music. Stop spending time worrying about me and my comments and you find time to form an opinion on your own instead of PROVING yourself to be an idiot being a miserable individual looking to create conflict lol. I LOVE MUSIC, employed, educated here.

  • Comment removed

  • O.M.G first ever I listened to this song .. AMAZING !!

  • in love with this version!

  • my mouth dropped. literally.

  • Que voz mas divina. Ella era simplemente FABULOSA.

  • Ella Fitzgerald always was and always will be my number one favorite jazz singer.

This is the best performance I've ever heard. wow...

  • thumbs up if shpongle brought you here

  • it's been a haard day's night :DD

  • There was no Lady greater in Scat than

There was no lady greater in scat, than Ella. I'm a white woman, and I always tried to imitatete her in my basement, singing to her records to no avail. No one, imagine me., could ever....possily come close. What a gift she was to all of us. We are blessed to have had her in our lives.

  • she plays with the notes like a child. I´ve seen other big singers messing this song up (just type the name of this song here and compare). She doesn´t - she has the command of this song.

  • LOL! Love how towards the end she's like, "Hope that I am still in tune". I'm sure she was being serious, but it just goes to show you that she must've had a good sense of humor. I love her music.

  • @MusicalOxygen

I think maybe she had to give the piano player a signal to start playing again slowly

  • @MusicalOxygen yea seriously! It's like, of course you were, you're freakin ella fitzgerald!!!

  • Slightly hallucinogenic, WEIRD! Disconnected...

  • First Lady of Song? Any questions? Listen. And keep listening. Ahh, what a great lady. Ella!

  • So right about the never heard an off key note -- EXCEPT when would intentionally and with great finesse hit the note on "KEY" in the song "You Can't Take That Away From Me" the lyric "...the way you sing off KEY, the memory of all that, no, no you can't take that away from me" -- and even then it was a beautiful off key note

  • Simply amazing....

  • "Hi - hi - high is the moon, and I hope I'm still in tune!!!"

  • Could someone tell me what is the theme at 3:15 ? Thank you !

  • @jonas220393 I do believe it is a quote from the finale of the William Tell Overture (Giachino Rossini) or better known as part of the "Lone Ranger" theme.

  • @CBPhotography1 Thank you very much ! ;)

  • should be very proud that the best singer in the history even sing two verses of a song of yours

  • Her improve is impeccable... simply amazing performance!

  • 4 people are tone deaf

  • Ella and How High The Moon! Perfect together!! Thanks for the post!!

  • thank you so much !!! ella!

  • Simply the GREATEST scat singer...'Nuff said!

  • I love the part when she starts "a hard day's night", too bad it's cut here...

does anyone here have the full version?

  • @ChiisanaNoSekai Full version: /watch?v=Y_J-siDsG-o

  • @m0rtem Thank you for the link! ˆ-ˆ

  • @ 3:42 onwards...i thought i heard "dvd"...

  • Not high enough! Once you've heard Ella do it and lived with someone who helped you reach it. Gossomer wisps of frosty rime and smoky breath, all the same. Ephemreral and just as long , but by God is it ever worth it!

  • YEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • He is bored of saying the same things over and over and over again, anyone would be:) He just switches off really in order to cope. He's extremely bright, you only have to sit in to notice that!

  • Ahh. This is so amazing. She's been my idol since I was a little girl. What a shame I've never seen her live.

  • Whatever happened to the complete version? This Song is about 7 minutes long but I can't find it anywhere?!?! All I found was this 4 minute video which is incomplete...help!!!

  • Ms. Ella was and is w/out equal. A majority of today's so called "singers" can only hope that they could sing 1/25 as good as the First Lady of Jazz.

  • @dperkins1911 you are so right.....we don't have anyone like this, anyone....i mean, we do have great singers (a few, specially in popular music) but no one will ever compare to Ella. I mean, even back in her time, a lot of singers could only hope to sing like this......she was so unique....long live ella!!!

  • This woman was pure magic - you dont get talent like this in any college, this is spiritual stuff.

  • How high is the moon and hope I'm still in tune! I don't think anybody got that.

  • That one part of her skat sounded like the Crazy Frog, but she KILLED IT!!! God, I love Ella!

  • YES IS THE QUEEN PERFECT BEAUTIFUL AND SO SWEET!!!

  • my ears just had an orgasm

  • @chucky65 ... and chucky shows this

  • @adfgsdfgsfdgbsfgbsdf really??? people speak this way in 2010?

  • @monthervil What happened in 2010? Nigger was awarded the Nobel Prize?

  • @adfgsdfgsfdgbsfgbsdf The Nobel Prize? Since 1950 ..

You can hear Ella Fitzgerald!! but you leave stupid comments.

Some people never change, that happened in 2010 and they rarely admit that they're wrong.

  • @tojugula I say about Nobel Prize in science, not Nobel Peace Prize. Nightingale sings beautifully, but he is not clever.

  • estebangarciaderusia beside to thank you for uploading this version ... can you inform me when and what time this was done? thanks in advance ... one of the greatest ella fans .....eva

  • She uses her voice exactly like an intrument... I adore her!

  • QUE GENIA!!!!!!:)

  • Fantastic, too bad it was out of sync

  • SMH SMH SMH...i can't even speak after this..God bless this woman's soul

  • The first lady of jazz she has an amazing style and i simply adore the scat singing its brilliant the 1 and only Ella Fitzgerald

  • Ella is simply the Queen of Jazz; in all of her recordings that I have listened to I have NEVER heard her sing any off key notes!!

Where did this woman come from?? We were blessed to have her for a time...,

  • simply answer:sent from heaven.... not even ONE singer is close to her. a lto of excellent ones have been here but ella... takes them all in a tisket. and the can go home. whenever i try to sing a new song and listening the way ella does i take my micro and through it in the corner. first... than i stand up and try to work as hard as i can...she is still THE ONLY teacher for me...

  • @xtremenortherner we didn't have her for a time....we have her know and will have her forever...there is no other like ella fitzgerald, she is simply the best....to meet her music is a gift of God, she is that good!!!

  • @xtremenortherner because back then, they didnt have autotune, so people who couldnt sing wrote songs.

  • @xtremenortherner she is the Queen.

  • god she feels it shes amazing, i wanna say she has the prettiest voice and her skat is as good as tormes anyday, and torme is unbelievable

  • she is the best!the best!

  • How high the moon and the Hard days nigth :D

    Very cool!

  • A sample from this song is actually used in shpongle - My head feels like a frisbee

  • Starts at 4:10

  • the locrian mode ;D X

  • She and Louis were the ONLY ONES able to scat in a great and convincing way.

  • wat an amzing voice

  • What Ella is trying to do here is repeating the way she did How High the Moon in 1947 where she forgot the lyrics and scatted and improvise the whole song to the end. Much, much longer than this one. That song of her became legedary. In 1960 she did it once more. In this footage she sings a line of the Beatles "it's been a Heart Days Night" and that's from the sixties.

  • Ella + scatting = legendary.

  • . unwatchable but Great to listen too, thank you!

  • Come on man fix your video please! The speed is off!!

Thanks! Do the LADY Justice! :-) SOMEONE WITH A GEM of this song please POST.

    Thanks!

  • This is awesome!

  • holy shit it cuts off the end sad face!!!!!!

  • This is from a concert in Stockholm in 1966 with the Ellington band (I've never been sure if it's the exact same one that's on CD as The Stockholm Concert, but the repertoire is the same, if only in a different order).

  • Shane sadly I think the version they used for How High The Moon on the CD was from the 1960 Berlin Concert. This is still very much unissued. There is another version from Brussels 1966 where the version is similar to this. The 1966 Stockholm for the original LP and then CD release is from the TV special and a radio performance around the same time (i.e Cottontail )

  • I was mistaken in thinking How High The Moon was included on the Stockholm Lp/CD. However, the version here IS from the same TV show that most of the other tracks were taken from for the LP, which I have on videotape (hence why I thought HHTM was on the audio CD too). Duke and the band are on for the first half of the show with Ella coming on for Wives And Lovers, Sweet Georgia Brown, So Danca Samba, High The Moon, IMagine Mr Frustration (my favourite Ella performance) and Duke's Place.

  • yah i have that video....How High The Moon was never part of the CD though...... I know this is from the same session as the Stockholm CD, just was never added to it. I would love to see footage of the radio performance OR the rest of the radio perfomrance.

  • my favorite song of hers and duke's.. :D

  • magnificent!!!

  • The audio is waaay out of time with the video. I thought I saw Cat Anderson on trumpet briefly... I know she did some stuff with Duke's band with her piano player... Fantastic clip! The woman was absolutely brilliant.

  • She absolutely killed this (thats a good thing...).

    Great great performance!!

  • Brilliant! Ella does it all, from throat singing (!) to the Beatles!
