  • Thank you so much for finally showing me the correct playing for this.... Not to mention the correct playing of the other songs you do. There are so many people doing songs all wrong on youtube and I dont know what the point of playing any peice is if you dont do it the way the artist did.

I know you already have allot but... Do more Zeppelin! Thx again man!

  • awesome bro, many thanx....

  • Good job dude! It should be noted that this is a half step down though. Yeah. lol

  • Wow,great job w/this dude...It was a bit off the way I was playing it (during the changes)

  • Absolutely fantastic lesson as always. Thanks for making my playing better! Best wishes,

    Dave

  • thank you , i missed the bridge and in other transkriptions its mostly wrong

    you got it !

  • For an alternative way to play this, see: "Ramble On - Guitar Lessons from the Gold Couch" This person also has a white dog. =)

  • Thank you, you're lesson is very clear and now i can play ramble on!!

    bye

  • best most concise lesson yet and your version completely rocks the tune out. you get it and never mind the bad limey grammar. i have no patience for slow paced lessons. i think the third chord might be an Esus9.. if you listen closely he clinks the low B i think but it doesn't matter. Pagey was such a loose and courageous player he just let it flow, even in the studio. He literally never played a song quite the same way twice. He can do no wrong in my eyes. GREAT lesson! Thanks..

  • why cant yanks play this song proper?

  • @thehum1000 I may be a Yank who's never mastered this song, but ironically, I have mastered the English language. The word is "properly," genius. And judging from the comments you've left on other people's videos, I don't expect we'll see intelligent posts from you any time soon. Good bye.

  • @privettricker ... nice come back dude

  • @privettricker thehum1000 did use the word "proper" properly for someone living in the country that got beat by the Americans in the Revolutionary War. =) No point in criticizing their use of the english language, or the fact that they drive on the wrong side of the road. They get to do it their way on their little island.

  • @thehum1000 remember..all of your brit invasion cats, were inspired heavily by our YANKEE blues and rockabilly guys. so we'll play it how the fuc we want!

  • Half step down.

  • great lesson dude!

  • Great video! However, I'm not sure if you were aware that when you made this video, your guitar was tuned down a half-step. It makes it hard for song learners to play along with you since most people would presumably be in standard tuning. Other than that, awesome tutorial and great playing!

  • @trumpetking11 where are ur flawless videos

  • I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON ME FINGERS!!

  • Good man....

  • THanks dude I subscribed to you

  • @speedunknown Thanks, chief. But I think I've got it all under control.

  • @speedunknown do it better, or shut the f*** up! Its a great lesson!

  • @speedunknown Listen closer n study harder, good effort????WTF are you stunned ? have you ever checked out PT 's channel ,This guy can play guitar ,,,,very well, learned alot from watching his vids, and if you listen he says" well atleast thats how i play it", Thanks man love your videos.

  • @speedunknown Obvious troll is obvious.

  • thanks man!!

  • Fantastic

  • dude you are a guitar jedi..... every one of your vids I have seen are awesome... thanx for sharing..... ;9)

  • Hey man, you do a great job on this. The explanation of the different positions is really helpful. Thx much

  • Why are you always tuned down?

  • Another way to play that beginning is to use a simple open E shape on the 13th fret and slide it to the 11th before going to your A chord.

  • good teacher

  • What acoustic are you playing here? It sounds fantastic!

  • @tegala That's a Gibson J200.

  • @tegala That's a fucking Gibson J-200 dude!!! Best acoustic guitar in the world if you ask me :D

  • @privettricker Hey i love the sound of your guitar and i was wondering if you could help me pick out an acoustic guitar that has a similar sound but is around the $300 range. im not sure what i should be looking for since im still kinda new.

  • @TheJpw926 Alvarez makes some really good sounding but inexpensive guitars.

  • Nice shirt.. ACK. just learning guitar... love the vids. something I can shoot for. may take me a while though :(

  • I just saw your other video playing with the actual song which "is" in standard 440...awesome again, thanks for the lesson!

  • just wondering, i tuned to you and it's half step down tuned in this video I think? I would also like to say I've learned alot of Zeppelin from you, thanks alot for your time and expertise...

  • thanks for easy lesson

  • nice legs

  • deedle deedle deet deedle deedle deet deedle dee....got it :)

  • Like all of your videos it was great! Thanks!!

  • why are you in eFLAT

  • Hehe... I gave you the 100th 'like'

  • @555pontifex Congratulations, you're the winner! Unfortunately, budget cuts have forced me to cancel the Free Les Paul Giveaway to Whoever Posts the 100th Like. Sorry.

  • love your guitar man. Ej200. I'm planning on buying the EJ200 CE soon. keep up the great work

  • Are you in E FLAT??

  • @3117ss I don't know, but it shouldn't matter. Tune your E string to the first chord and you'll be fine.

  • I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it's played starting on the 14th fret with an open E shape, Page only uses that for playing it electrically.. But I love your videos.

  • @xebec30 I've seen people play it that way (including Phil Johnstone in Robert Plant's old band), but Jimmy played it like this. Check out some live videos of Page/Plant doing it on their tours in the 90s.

  • @privettricker @xebec30 Yup privet, you play just like Page. In that "new" documentary (It Might Get Loud), you can clearly see his hand, you you did it just like him.

  • @MrLino But that's electrically, the way I suggested doesn't work electrically, only acoustically, offer me some proof that that is how you play it acoustically?

  • @xebec30 No, i can't give you proof that's how it's played acoustically. I never said your way was wrong by the way, i just mentioned how Page played it on the documentary. Whatever way you play, if it sounds good, it1s cool. There's not only one way to play a song.

  • i had a dog light that, a flashlight shined on the floor drove it crazy had to be careful not to do that

  • I think there is one thing that is sightly not accurate in your interpretation. On the third part (chorus) that goes E (pinky off to D) E, then down to A, G etc. You need to life your second finger and play the A chord as 0507 the slide down to G as 0305 and finally 0304. I'm sure that is what Page is doing in that section. Otherwise, good explanation and nice video.

  • Missed this one! Thanks for the lesson! It kinda sorta has a Dave Mathews sorta vibe going on.. Gesses up to 813 vids so far! You rock, thanks for all the vids!

  • love the video by far the best instructional I've seen. One question are you using your thumb to mute the E string, or at times are you actually pressing down the string to obtain a certain note?? thanks for making the vid

  • @ golden Alice It was during the f#minor thing but I think I get it. Yes you do press down with your thumb to make the note?? and my thumb seems to be growing longer by the day. super fun version .

    ramble on world ramble on

  • @goldenalice I usually do fret those low notes with my thumb reaching over the top. If you practice it a little bit, that becomes pretty easy to do.

  • @Lewis7632 Her nails on the wooden deck. And her giant praying mantis mandibles.

  • 0:40 middle finger lol

  • Man, that guitar is setup nicely. I need to have a kid so I can sell it for that Gibby.

  • You r guys totally deaf mfs if you don't hear that you play some shit but not a ramble on

  • what's the guitar you used? it sounds great.

  • nice guitar by the way.

  • oh sorry thats what i meant and fuck pop music rock and roll all the way dood.

  • you aint in standard tuning mate.

  • @northernmonkiz I am in standard tuning. It may not be standard pitch. If you're going to play pop music on guitar, get used to re-tuning frequently.

  • Great video - I especially appreciate the Cisco Brewers shirt - did you come on a tour? I might have shown you around... Anyway - thanks for the tips - I'm going to try to play it out there at the Brewery Friday night!

  • @tonydisavino Been to Cisco Brewers many times, but haven't been back to Nantucket in 10 years now. It's my favorite place on earth.

  • Great video - I especially appreciate the Cisco Brewers shirt - did you come on a tour? I might have shown you around... Anyway - thanks for the tips - I'm going to try to play it out there at the Brewery Friday night!

  • Gibson SJ200 has definitely a bird sound...that's magic man.

At 4.58 i leave the G chord open...it sounds quiet blue

  • Nice shorts

  • Are you tuned 1/2 step down in this version for some reason? It seems so compared to your electric version which you play along with the album.

  • @beam52 I may be tuned down a little, not sure. To play along with a lot of pop songs like I do, I have to constantly re-tune to whatever I'm listening to. Tuning in pop songs is all over the place.

  • @beam52 Cool.... OK thanks, keep up the fantastic work...

  • That's the way Jimmy plays it in "It Might Get Loud". Cool. Must get around to finishing my tab for this.

  • might want to add that you are tuned down 1/2 step

  • I love the sound of your guitar who makes it and what kind of strings are you using? and thats for the lesson I like your version the best!!

  • I agree that this is the best lesson available for the intro. Would the videomaker or somebody else be nice enough to point me to an online tab using this same arrangement?

  • @trollarama Why do you need tabs? He's showing you how to play it.

  • @da324 It's easier to follow a tab that I can print instead of being tethered to a computer video.

  • Great.

    Thank You.

  • THANKS buddy, lots of help and the best lesson out there.

    Take care of your dog.

  • good teacher, dont claim to know everything and very informative. Who gives a sh-- about all that b#7th9th bullsh--

  • You've got the best rhythm on this I've seen of the "howto" variety. Also glad to see the slide parts which also seem to be lacking in most. Thanks.

  • you are tuned down half a step.

  • how the hell am i supposed to bar those three AND leave the B and high E open?! so frustrating

  • @RussianAssassin21 Don't your knuckles bend both ways?

  • @privettricker yeah they do but i can't bend it the other way so as to bar the three and leave the B and E open, but it sounds acceptable if I only leave the E open. great lesson and guitar by the way

  • @RussianAssassin21 relax your fingers and they will bend. GREAT VIDEO

  • @RussianAssassin21 its like a power chord c:

  • Excellent

  • Awesome! Awesome!! Lesson...Yess, PPLEASEEE, do the electric part,

Count me in as a subscriber!!!!

  • I am fairly obsessed with learning Zep songs and tunings. This has to be the best

lesson I have found so far... I love the deck/dog/ table/clothes colour co-ordination

but mostly laid-back delivery. More please!

  • with the clicking, your dog is trying to play John Bonham's part

  • this is the best lesson on youtube.

there nothing to say; the sound of your j-200 is awsome

    thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • as always...THANKS !!

  • Well done man...as usual!

  • excellent lesson, could not have worked that out on my own. Oh, by the way great guitars and your house looks nice too.

  • Wonderful lesson, my friend! Thanks a lot, you let us learn in so simple way! Just a question, not guitar related: what kind of camera do you use? The video is really professional, very clear and sharp, please tell me which camera is and how you compress your files for that quality video. Thanks and greetings from Rome

  • @66blades66 It's a Canon PowerShot S5IS. It does all the compressing and file formatting all by itself when you upload to your hard drive.

  • @privettricker That's interesting-that's the same camera I have. I think it's been discontinued because I haven't seen it advertised anywhere for quite a while. Does a greta job with videos and sound.

  • great lesson

  • Than you sooo much :)
