seriously? They are really getting back together? Only if alot of the 90s bands would, there would be a return of really good music to this century!!!!
How did I not know that Nick Hexum was the voice I loved so long ago? NO WONDER I love this song. I've always know it was The Urge... Now I know why I love it. <3 Nick's Voice!
I was able to see them not only play, but get signed the night they played in Fort Wayne,IN. At a place called Pieres. It was 96 and i was 18 and this girl I was banging, her mom did lights at the club and she smuggled my ass in an i got free drinks all night. Then that following summer I got to see them open for 311 at this hole in the wall called The Garage in Cinnci. Im 35 and that is up there with my top 5 memories of my life. By the By, I smoked out with both bands!
Wow I discovered this tune on a sampler CD I won on a local radio when I was 16 and I praised this little wonder as a special part of me for so long. I used to appropriate myself weird little part of earth back then. SO FRESH! :')
I've heard this song like, a million times but, this is my first time ever seeing the video. It's kinda weird. But, I can dig it. Great song! Wish Nick was in it more though.
OH hell yeah, I will finally get to see the URGE live. I didn't think I would ever get to. The URGE and Cake on the same ticket it will be a great day.
@KarlaFish saw hurt like 4x aready and they never fail to impress. did you go to the point fest like 3 maybe 4 years ago when the singer climbed to the top of the speakers? it was so cool.
@drizzleownsyou haven't been to PointFest before (I live in Arkansas), but I've seen HURT 3 times in St. Louis and 16 times altogether ;) best band in the world!!!!! :D
We definitely need more positive music like 311 and The Urge , too bad most of the new music is crap...maybe I need to stop complaining and start creating my own music
Best live band I've ever seen in concert, and I've seen plenty! Seen them play arenas, seen them play clubs, they rocked no matter where they played and were the most energetic bunch of guys I've had the privilege to see live!
All I have to say is Ranch Bowl, Omaha, 1995. Roger the Sound Guy in his awesome sweatpants, R.I.P. You could walk into the snow completely ignorant to the ways of The Urge, but by the time you walked out you were a sweaty mess. Most incredible live show I have ever seen...a dozen times.
This was the best~ I was 19 when this song came out and I listened to it all the time...those were such good times. The sound of this is kick ass magic, and the lyrics are so relatable, how can ya now get sucked in by such awesomeness. It's a late 90's classic~ I just LOVE it!
love this song. the videos is totally nineties. reminds me of high school.
not to sound like a nerd but at the very end nick hexum sings "jump right in from the uuurrrge"-last line and he lets the urge drag on nicely,i always liked how it sounds. unfortunatly in this vid you can't really hear it. Still super awesome to hea it after ten years! been in my head for that long :-)
@SoulOnDeparture666 Yes, The Box KILLLLS MTV and VH1 any day =); straight independent or commercial garbage all day, played on the behalf of the demand of the people...NOT SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS BY THE BIG CORPS.
@iYEMTheGreatest agreed, and it felt so awesome when you called in to pick a song, and the little phone icon would pop up in the corner of the screen and show the numbers you put in! haha what a trip. the end of THE BOX was the start of the decline of actual music television
My older Brother first played this for me (YEARS AGO) on a sample C.D. At the time I liked it, however, I couldn't appreciate the message in the song until years later. Thanks Ryu.
@robertle319 yea it does...but a lot of bands from the mid 90's had this sound. 311's got it too. Sublime....Eve 6....it's like rock reggae. love it. so much better than the garbage on the radio now. you ever wonder if our kids...20 years from now...will be listening to what their kids like and saying, "man whatever happened to kesha? THAT was music!"
@rusty73581 NEVER!!!!! Anyone can sing into a computer. That takes noooooooo talent and it will always be seen as that. This is actual music cause it takes years to master these instruments as well as they did and to sing as well.
I said it on another one of their videos but I'll say it again...how this band did not become more popular than they did is a sin. A hidden gem for sure.
About 12 years ago, I caught the last 15 seconds of this video late at night on MTV and never saw it again. But the hook was so catchy that I wanted to know what it was. All I remembered was that it said it was somebody featuring "Nick Hexum from 311". It might have actually said "The Urge Feat. 311" even though it's only Nick. Anyway, I couldn't remember the name of it, or the band, or the hook. So for a decade I've been tortured. And today, FINALLY, I found the tune!
@joeromel1 I would highly suggest you looking for some used cd's of theirs then. Each album is full of great songs. Heck you could probably get it from itunes.
@joeromel1 Congrats man! Consider yourself lucky. I used to listen to this song way back when, and totally forgot about until this past year.....so its been 15 years easily
@codymasterswhatuwant Its not about aids...its about having sex with a chic without protection and having the thought in the back of your mind what if...
I actually met the fellas from The Urge a number of years back and hung out with them in their tour bus after the show. Great musicians and real fun people to be around.
Everybody from my era always says they miss the 90's. Well i miss the 80's & 90's. Everything was so much more creative back then. Just like this video here. Nowdays all we have is lada gaga justin beiber and the no talent CRAP like that. What a shame
