He basically made it a government goal that the governent try to make as many homeowners as possible in hopes it would increase entitlement and willingness to make their life better. However, though housing deductions, downpayments, and virtually no mortgage interests banks were loaning money they wouldn't get back. The regulation of the banks IS what screwed the USA over losing $15 trillion in loans.
Actually what happend is that the Government DEregulated banks. The Clinton Admin had a general direction of what they wanted but did not regulate how it was to be done. The realtors and banks would approve loans for 400k dollar homes to people making 25k a year and made it seem ok. Of course most poor people who never had anything jumped at the chance. Years later after those mortgages matured, BOOM! It was because the Gov't did NOT regulate the banks. Just said go sell homes, with no direction

I hate to burst your bubble, but a Saab, is a far superior vehicle than any Pontiac. Saab builds a 2 litre car that goes 150 mph, and can seat you, the kids, and the wife in comfort. The build quality of the cars is top notch, and they are not ugly, they are just different, look at the Saab Turbo X and tell me that is ugly. You see lots of pontiac cars, because they are cheap. At 5:30 is a metro 6R4; i've seen one of those at the granite city rally (a rally in scotland) this year and my god is it loud. You can hear it from literally miles away and it bursts your ears when passing. The sound is incomparable to new rally cars!!
Group B was awesome but the cars used today make for better viewing I think, much more graceful and flowing through a rally stage than Group B cars ever were.

I hate to burst your bubble, but a Saab, is a far superior vehicle than any Pontiac. Saab builds a 2 litre car that goes 150 mph, and can seat you, the kids, and the wife in comfort. The build quality of the cars is top notch, and they are not ugly, they are just different, look at the Saab Turbo X and tell me that is ugly. You see lots of pontiac cars, because they are cheap. How many Mercedes do you see a day on the road? Probably a lot less than you see Grand Ams. Your argument is flawed.

I'm with you on this one, SAAB is a better brand and also a Global Brand (Why do you think GM changed their minds about selling Opel/Vauxhall?). SAAB is about being different and they've made some amazing cars and done some amazing things, and have records to prove it.

Ok, i see what you guys are saying. I guess Saab is a more global brand, but i personally dont really like any of the Saab cars. I just think if GM actually gave the G8 a fair chance it could have been a success. I guess we'll never find out. I really wanted a G8 gxp :( Now i think i'm going to have to buy a camaro or mustang gt500, of course until i can afford a Aston Martin lol

Are you insane? do you know why Gr B ended? because of 2 crashes, one in Portugal the RS200 of Joaquim Santos a Portuguese driver run over 30 people, ONLY 3 dead , the dead of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver, Sergio Cresto and the because of the spectators PASSION(and Stupidity) today they complain of less spectators, and wish back the 1MILLION spectators(in Portugal)

Either way, it would be nice to get Group B back, if only for the road cars it spawned.
I mean, an Evo is a nice car, fast and sophisticated and all, but it's nowhere near as mental as the Renault 5 Turbo, MG Metro 6R4 or the Peugeot 205t16 were in their days.

At 5:30 is a metro 6R4; i've seen one of those at the granite city rally (a rally in scotland) this year and my god is it loud. You can hear it from literally miles away and it bursts your ears when passing. The sound is incomparable to new rally cars!!
