@KissingTheGallow You know studio version of Saku was realeased in 2004? It's kinda hard to sing song like that after theese years when your voice changes but persnoaly I love this live (but I hate life-less crowd)
@munkeefork69 You don't think they're good live? What's so different? Well this live wasn't that good but compared to some of they're good lives they're nearly perfect
@munkeefork69 dude.. its literally the same to all the other bands.. what they do is record the song in the studio, make a music video then combine both... the other bands are even worst.. but this is still good but i prefer saku with the video of the boy killing is parent's xD FUCK YOU FUCK YOU AND WIPE!!!!!!!!!!!! peace ^^
I agree, this is definitely not Kyo's best vocal performace. However, during that time period he was having a lot of problems with his throat and touring for extended periods.
Since then, I have seen them twice and both times he has just gotten progressively better and better.
It seems that he figured how to do the aggressive, screaming style of vocals and still keep his throat healthy.
At the House of Blues in LA on their last LA tour (November 18th?) he sounded amazing.
This wasn't in the US. They aren't haven't sold out to become maintream either. They are definitely in a league of their own. I saw them perform recently and it was the best show I've seen thus far. Amazing talent altogether. Simply a joy to watch and listen to.
its so crazy how much dir en grey have changed over the years from how they were in '99 when theyd be performing stuff like cage or yokan and now theyre singing alot heavier kind of songs like bugaboo and saku for example in just 10 years.
Often bands change. It's the same thing with MUCC... Once the kings of angura kei and a unique japanese sound and now they play more and more westernized music with electronic elements. There are a lot of other examples like this. But it's strange... If I think about it Dir en grey is the only band where I really adore the change. Without it awesome songs like Saku and Repetition of Hatred would never have been possible.
i wouldnt say MUCC is playing westernized music... just listen to their singing melodies... which western band has similar singing melodies to theirs? not even one... its true their music was a little KoRn-ish nu metal but now they have their own style...
NO ^^ I just don't think so. To my mind they lose their uniqe style more and more and turn mainstream. Of course they still have some of their own trademarks within their music. If not it would be even more sad. But I really was a MUCC fan by heart and I know what I'm talking about when I say they lost what was so special and intense about them a few years ago. I'm not the only one who thinks that way. But still they aren't bad.
turning mainstream doesnt mean that they are giving up an unique style... a good example is L'Arc~en~Ciel... they are mainstream but they have their own unique style too... i know in Sora to ito there are some metalcore parts.. at first i was like "eh? are they becoming westernized? no way :S" but i listened other songs on their new album and i was calmed, they still have their unique style... did You heard their newest song Freesia? its super Awesome and unique too... true Japanese masterpiec
@Gravegun Seriously, my opinion about MUCC is EXACTLY the same as yours. Word by word... well, it's not really a surprise at all that more people think MUCC are dead but it's hard to find someone who has the exactly same opinion as yours.
Seriously though there are sometimes where he's just insanely awesome but some where he's drained and sounds off.. when he does he knows and you know he knows because his face changes... there's some parts on the rose trims again dvd where you see how pissed he is that he is off pitch... and then if you read about before he needed that surgery he begged the fans for forgivness truly an honorable man...
Yes but you can't expect him to be perfect all the time. When you put as much strain and is that rough on your voice night after night it is gonna crack. I agree he knows when it is happening and is an honorable man.

Naaaa, Mike Patton is slightly better vocally. But the big opposite between the two is Kyo writes what he feels to be profound in his music, Mike Patton's stuff is often dumb, meaningless, or done for humor.
ya, I guess it really matters where its at, the sound techs, how the artist are feeling, etc.I just went to see suicide silence and they sounded amazing.
what's this...? compare this to the studio....: |

This sounds really bad compared to the CD version, but it certainly isn't from lack of effort on the band's part.

it was weird... i watched two different lives of Obscure, and one sounded more intense, but was lacking in precision and "skill"
when the other was pretty much spot on but less precise and perfect.
seems like he was feeling the songs really intensely at Wacken, but something was getting in the way of his preciscion. i dont know.
