I am from Canada, and we never owned Alaska, ever! I mean I see where you are coming from that it would make more sense geographically for Canada to have Alaska as the 4th territory(after Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut) since it is right next to us on the same land mass, unlike Russia or the US, where it just looks out of place, but it isn't, nor ever was.
The US bought it off of Russia in the 1800s, that is easy public knowledge, just google it.
