This must have been about '95 or so. Would have been SO COOL to see F40 LM take Le Mans, but it didn't have much support from Ferrari and was already nearly a decade old by this time. The F40 was capable of over 720 HP, but probably not for a 24 hr race, so I suppose they ran them at 600++ HP. The McLaren F1 was so advanced and purpose built and had no turbo system to fret over. The F1 was designed from the start to be a 240 mph car, the kind that could take Le Mans. And it did! Amazing...

It's kinda funny how in only 4 to 5 years from when this Le Mans took place the mentality for the 24 has changed. From the controlled steady pace from what commentator said that the drivers used to say, to what they say now, where you push from flag to flag, a 24 hour dog fight and hope everything goes right and stays in one piece. lol You just have to love sports car racing.
