  • back when comedy wasn't about offending people

  • My 4 year old loves it too although it did look as if he nearly list a couple of teeth on the belly flop on the Board!

    Great innocent fun!

  • From the age of talented entertainers. According to wiki he lived into his 90's and taught this stuff in a university!

Great video. My 8 year old loves it.

  • Wow,this is great! loved it!

  • Once upon a time one had to have talent to be in show business. now you just have to come from a famous family and get a reality show. or do something plain stupid. to get attention.

  • What a talented man. These were the days before vulgar words had to be used in comedy.I get sick of modern day commediennes thinking they have to talk dirty to be funny. Mr Griswald was loaded with talent. how the heck did he bounce back up and land on that diving board like he did? I would have killed myself doing that.

  • haha, how he´s trolling the audience lmao

  • You seriously don't get comedy and showmanship like this today lmao.

  • @tehmixx Don Otto does something similar.

  • Awesome!

  • Amazing! PPkk

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • This is why America wins!

  • @Bullseye5477 we used to win, now we fucking suck

  • In those days, you had to have talent to make it big in showbiz, I guess

  • Jackie Chan's long lost uncle ...

  • any relation to Clark W. ?

  • THIS is comedy.

  • Like a boss

  • Like a fucking boss.

  • Luck: 10.

  • How skinny Sinatra was

  • Awesome! Health and Safety would never allow that these days ¬_¬ people knew what they were doing back then :D

  • I hate it when people falsely claim to be the great grandchild (or relative) of whoever in the video.

  • @roadcrossertwo Maybe if the person in the video slept around a lot ;)

  • the dislikes were obviously accidental

  • @BSTBIKER Well played.

  • how can he not get hurt?

  • I KEPT SCREAMING EVERY TIME HE FALLS!!! XD

  • Parkour.

  • Such great times!

  • So that's how Jackass appeared

  • That was incredible. Physical comedy has devolved into Hollywood actors walking into trees, parking meters and open car doors. This was awesome.

  • ROFL!

  • on a scale of 1 to 10 i give this a 100

  • Классно

  • genius

  • He's my great grandpa I know because we have pictures of him all over our house and my father told me he also helped in the making of the trampoline

  • he was your great grandpa?! How great is that? Just fabulous. Nobody like him today.

  • Excellent. There is no other word I can use for this. Simply excellent. Everything in this routine was perfect. The fact that he could pull this off and still have enough breath to talk fast. This guy must have been one of the greatest athletes ever. He's funny, clever, and athletic. A perfect comedian through and through.

  • HOLY SHIT IT'S THE REAL CLAIRE STANFIELD!

  • Thats amazing...

  • Excellent

  • Fantastic !!!

  • Il était aux Folies Bergère de Paris en Attraction quand j'y étais à mon époque , il avait même eu un accident le pauvre . Excellente attraction ce Larry Griswold

    C'était dans les années I966/69

    Robert BRUMMEL

  • This is my great grandpa :)

  • @MrMistermarley You should be proud. He was great! They donlt make them like this anymore.

  • @MrMistermarley Really? You ought to be proud.

  • Much better than "Profeesor Splash" on AGT this season.

  • Haw, haw, haw!!! So much fer elf n safety, aye;-) Awesome!

  • More gutsy than Cirque de Soleil! And in those days....Brilliant, athletic, unique hilarity (is that a word?)

  • And i thought i was a nut

  • funny as hell...what a talent!

  • yeah :D

  • This was classic TV, wonderful stuff!

  • my dad told me this my great grandpa we have pictures of him in our house and my dad was into tampolines just like him.. im so proud!

  • numero 1

  • 17 people have no life and live in an over crowded apartment complex surrounded by loud Mexicans that drive red trucks made by Ford.

  • Whoooa...say how you REALLY feel! Lmao!

  • Outstanding....enjoyed that..but Frank needed some meat on his bones...

  • MARAVILHOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG!!! Hahahaa!

  • the 17 who disliked are jealous

  • Sensacional !

  • Marvelous

  • why have i not herd of this man until recently god damm

  • Great act!

  • 2:08 that's more athletic than I'll ever see in most people today.

  • Hahah tricking is old is see ;) So history does repeat itself! funny

  • yieeee stunts

  • Wow, that made my heart jump around a bit xD

  • Go parcour!

  • @heavenfromhell Old school!

  • He inspires me!

  • Awesome share.

  • god bless him. very funny sportman.

  • so great! thank you for sharing this : )

  • Watch who your pushing around! Genius.

  • Would be interested in seeing how many broken bones, torn knees and so on this guy had in his career.

On a side note, Frank sure did not have a weight problem in the early 50s!

  • That was just awesome, I love to see more of that.

  • In no where SD I took my 3 1/2 year old daughter to a one tent circus. They had a guy doing this this. it was amAAAAzing. But every kid under 4, mine included, were howlling in fright.

  • super

  • That was excellent showmanship, and excellent stunt work.

  • This guy is really good.

  • INSANE stuntman!

  • They sure knew how to make the whole world laugh, back in those days, and without gross language of any kind! Respect was the order of the day back then...

  • Jacky Chan eat your heart out.lol

  • I understand that College kids are still doing this during Spring Breaks.

  • That was hilarious.

  • not only did he pull of many great difficult moves... he was able to talk with out being out of breath. damn he is good

  • What a true athlete. You have to be extremely good at this to make these "mistakes" seem genuine. I laughed so hard and was in awe of his talent at the same time.

  • Don't worry. Of course! I keep myself in good shape doing ath-a-letics down at the gym-a-nasium at the YWMCA.

  • amazing talent!! timeless and a revolution on comedy for its day and relevant today!

  • Don't knock sex and swearing, when done right it can be hilarious! This too though is funny and very impressive. We can have both you know.

  • I am grateful for the memory...even though this act was filmed just 32 days before I was even born...it still is a good memory of very talented people who could entertain the world without crude sexual or vulgar actions to keep the attention of its audience.

  • The dislike button should really be disabled on some videos.

  • Did you check out the 2010 ISHOF Induction of Larry Griswold video?

    What an amazing talent!

  • I certainly enjoyed seeing this video, it is fun to see entertainment from the past sometimes. But to decide that the old stuff is better because it has "family values" seems to throw away everything new that we enjoy just because it requires us to decide whether every member of the family should watch it. I too grew up in the 50's and 60's, but I don't think that every moment of television should be suitable for family viewing. That's what the "off" button, the channel changer is for.

  • I LIKE ... :)

  • How did he not hurt himself falling backward that first time - dang! This guy was GOOD! Would give today's stunt doubles a run for their money =)

  • Physical comedy is one of those things that just never get old. Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, The Three Stooges, etc. all of these acts are just as funny now as they were when they were made. Slapstick comedy is timeless :)

  • I think he names his son Clark.

  • haha this is great

  • Larry Griswald - RIP

I have been told that Jim Carrey got a lot of his inspiration in physical comedy from this guy. It would explain Jim's early comedy.

  • this is great good ole comedy at it's best.

  • That guy has the most amazing stage presence and is one hell of an entertainer.

  • Ta for posting. What a talent - incredible fitness, and lived to 91-odd!

  • @ericlebo Whaa Whaaa Whaaa you are a pathetic TROLL .

  • @ericlebo

Hehe yeah the obvious references to Christianity, family and anti-communism really jumped out at me and made this funny. This type of thing would never make it in the Hollywood of today, which is shunned by everybody because it is so bad. How is Hollywood still hanging on in America where we all hate it so much?

  • Larry Griswald, (September 17, 1905 - August 24, 1996), What a fine acrobat, athlete, but perhaps more importantly one of the greatest clowns ever. In our world of plastic audience reaction tracks when you listen to this audience the difference is obvious.

  • can you imagine what OSHA would have to say about all the safety issues? it's just plain funny

  • Forget this I'm gonna watch something less wholesome... Three stooges here I come!!!!!

  • wow.. he beat his ass for a few laughs

  • Great performance

    Thumbs UP posting

  • Yes, those were the good old days, and yes, it was possible to laugh at things that are wholesome, and it still is! The problem is that Hollywood writers target kids who want to grow up fast and be 'cool'. And hey! It is still very cool to have good manners, ambition, and courage to stand away from the crowd and see the world differently. And even more cool is to have a family that shares quality time together. The good old days can be had today. Set limits to the things that divide families.

  • @jnetusil Possibly too many freedoms?

  • ajandersin007....You are so right!!!! I'm glad that I grew up in an era when all TV viewing was clean & wholesome. Sadly, that era is gone, never to return. Kids today would look at this type of comedy & call it corny. TV viewing used to be a time, when families gathered around the TV & we called it "quality TV time." Now, there's so much garbage on TV. What a shame!!!!!!!

  • this was awwesome! thanks for posting.

  • Just like everything else this country USED to do well, this kind of talent is now imported from Asia.

  • Just like everything else this country USED to do well, this kind of talent is now imported from Asia.

  • Now that's entertainment!

  • Pure physical comedy and slapstick humor. You were scared and laughing at the same time.

  • Good clean belly laughing humor that EVERYONE in the family could share! They WERE, indeed, the "good old days"!!

  • i wish we had this level of comedy now!! This is first rate! Bravo,

  • You old people think this is better then watching "Snookie?" Better then watching Kim Kardasian and her two talented ugly sisters whose claim to fame is...(what exactly is their talent)?

  • @RapIsDeadly who are those kar-d-as-ian?

  • That's good television.

  • I believe that this was the first TV show I saw in our home back in 1951, when we had our first TV set purchased. Thanks for the memory!

  • Back in the day when talent meant one had a special natural ability. Now I don't know why they still use that word. Especially after seeing this video.

  • That's entertainment! What a great video!!

  • Easily golden television. I wish we could have TV like this again. Clean, good, and no worries.

  • @mightyelroy It's a shame it takes so much more to "entertain" people nowadays. Snookie Kim K. don't have anything on this!

  • @mightyelroy Not me man...I like TV the way it is. Vulgar, sexually explicit and full of racist humor. Good times for all!

  • @mightyelroy i worried halfway through this LOL

  • Amazing talent

  • Prople were so easily entertained back in the day.

  • @dar5001 you think that's easy?

  • It was easy to entertain people back in the day. But what do you give someone who has everything? Someone who's seen it all? The best music that will ever be heard has been sung. The best stories have already been told more than once. We've been played in so many ways that what's old is new again means we forgot what we watched last year. Baseball, football, basketball, golf, soccer, and tennis are not getting better as much as they are getting old. Save us from ourselves, Larry!

  • Hahaha! I wonder how he was able to do most of that stuff.

  • Terrific talent; sure don't see good, clean entertainment like that any longer. Today's TV programming is a total zero when compared to the decent, family oriented programs of the past.

  • Incrediblly skilled person. God bless him.

  • HOLEY MOLEY!!! Thats amazing!

  • That's great! Thanks for sharing.

That first "fall" really took me by surprise!

  • That's great! Thanks for sharing.

  • Oh how I miss those days of TV!!!

  • Oh how I miss those days of TV!!!

  • a fat old pommy bloke is doing that routine now in the Moscow Circus travelling around Sydney

  • man its too bad vaudeville had to die...

  • and he wore a jacket and tie throughout .

  • Magic!

  • WOW! Not alive back then but have to agree with others posters, Incredible talent compared to the crap that that gets fed to our kids these days!

  • Incredible! What a talent and what a charming performer! Fantastic!

  • This guy is insanely hilarious!

  • damn this is just simply amazing...

  • All you so-called "comics" these days should watch that. Those were the good old time when we stayed-up and watched the night shows. But these days, they are boring like hell, not worth our time. No wonder their ratings are going nowhere.

  • @wernernhnh

    duuuurrrrrr

  • What ratings are going nowhere? I dont think you actually know what youre saying....

Are you saying that modern comics arnt as good because they arnt slapstick?

I dont understand, but your whole comment just makes me sigh inside.

  • Please Kids, don't do this at home.

  • WOW, those were the days!!!

  • GENUIS!!!

  • wow! thats more dangerous then it looks I bet

  • The old Americas got talent

  • Awesome. Truely awesome.

  • I think a lot of you are missing the greatness of this. Yes of coarse things have evolved but this was such a great art form that has been lost. 3 stooges, acromaniacs and other groups were amazing at that time. And all first to try these things. So people try to be more positive please and just appreciate. If you want to see my stuff please check me out. And sub.
