  • Back when The Police were in their GOOD power. This is a superb song.

  • This song is hauntingly good!

  • We did this we were there...now how can it be future. No One knew

  • I don't know who influenced who, but this Police song it's the must Rush sound alike song. I love both bands and love this song too.

  • @sergiomng i remember when Signals came out, alot of people were talking about how New World Man sounded so much like The Police.

  • @snakehunter1964

hahaha, I always thought Signals was a great album, the police were a good influence

  • I can imagine Jung and Joseph Campbell digging the message of this fucking masterful piece.

  • Sting is a songwriting motherfucker

  • @PhuckHue2 LOL what does that even mean

  • It took me YEARS to realize that these are the guys faces... derr.

  • @robynsegg ...and if it wasn't because of you, I would've NEVER realized it. Amazing!

  • @darkanguiel: LOL! Not a problem! Happy to oblige!

  • @robynsegg Nice to know hah.

  • This song is about the Shaman. You must go on a personal journey into your mind... out in the wlderness or desert perhaps and try to come back with some ultimate truth.

Now one has to understand that this Journey you MUST do alone. No one can make this Journey and make up your mind for you. You must open all your Mind and heart and see what YOU see, based on everything you can account for.

Once you emerge, if you succeeded you will find FOR YOURSELF what the truth is... usually the 'one'.

  • Not most singers could get this compliment, but I feel Sting deserves it, the man sounds even better live back in 82', which is an incredible feat for sure.

  • @TheEdTeach Ehhm Soz This was one of my first videos I know its some lame but you can skip that part 0:06

  • @TheNeroXIII ....I can appreciate that..my comment wasn't necessary....and I'll remove...thanks for posting this classic.....

  • So Zen Sting diba!

  • effects sound quite like radiohead

  • amazing...every timie I hear thins song, it completely takes me to a different, "place". There's so much depth to way it written and composesd. I have yet to hear a song today that has its own "spiritual essence" this way this one did. I agree though, along with this one, omegaman and darkness were the tracks I played the most. Andy and Stewart were able to bring their own flavor into it. ^_^

  • @Marisa20XI ditto. when i heard it i was no longer where i was physically, it took me somewhere else mentally until it ended. sting is awesome & they were all powerful together.

  • the last 3 songs on Ghost are incredible - Omegaman, Secret Journey and Darkness. Andy, Sting and Stewart.

  • @MJLU280

To me, its like the album so far has taken you far out into the deepest reaches of space. Then you stop. The last three tracks then turn your ship to a new direction and you continue into eternity at warp speed.

  • @MJLU280 my favourite 3 songs on the album

  • @tjrtherocksponge

Indeed. My favs are Ghost and Zenyatta. This is a darker album.

This kind of pop? music still can't be surpassed 30 years later. Still sounds fresh and unique.

  • Probably my favorite Police Track in my opinion...

  • i dislike??????

  • @tjrtherocksponge x2 I don;t even like Roxanne...

  • This was when music had a bit more depth than some nigga popping his bitch with both his mofo guns.

  • "Ghost in the Machine" is one of the all time great album titles ever IMHO...

  • I once thought this was spiritual, but then again I was living in Eugene, Oregon at the time!

  • The album cover is a compilation of 3 images; one of Sting with tuffs of hair, one of Stewart with a part and Andy with a mop top. You really have to squint and spin your head around to visualize the image. I don't remember how it came to me; I was just such a huge fan, I just was mesmerized, so I didn't have a choice...Take care...(each of the images is like a silouhette, if that helps). Bon apetit!

  • ...you will find this love you miss...

  • what's the bullshit language at the begininng? we dint need no spanish crap...just post the music .......

  • @sid77777.....try living in the world, and not just your little bubble, bubble boy.

  • @MrErich505 Buena mi amigo.......do you understand ? lol

  • @sid77777 Yeah, drop the anti-spanish crap, people are people...

  • what is that a picture of...on the ghost in the machine album cover ?

  • this song isn t long enough

  • The police, man what a great band it was,..i got zenyatta for my birth day in 82 or 83, cant remember butit rocket, and it still does!

All police albums are good , personally, but after Ghost , i lost interest!

  • riff is exactly like dont stand so close to me

  • @515OVanHalen515O no it's not. Same Andy Summers, but completely different notes

  • Listening to this makes some of Stewart Copeland's Spyro influences very clear.

  • I love this song's lyrics...

  • i was in basic training (air force} this guy gave it to me cause he did'nt like it @ the time...wow....I still have it..... love all the songs on tis one especially Andys stuff

  • @wordimus That's because you were about to embark on your own secret journey...

  • After Ghost in the Machine, Synchronicity was kind of a let-down to me.

I remember laughing the first time I heard Every Breath You Take, still think it's corny.

  • Did anyone ever find out their connection(s) with CG Jung and/or Arthur Koestler...Jung wrote Synchronicity and Koestler The Ghost in the Machine.

    Just Curious?

I loved The Police...then later it was Dave Matthews Band...and to this day IMHO Carter and Stewart are/were the best drummers.

  • @TruthJockey yea me too always grew up with the police and never really appreciated it until i started listening attentively. i realized how great a drummer stewart is and the same thing allowed my appreciation for the dave matthews band because of listening for carter.

  • look at the mirror image of this cover...just google, "the police ghost in the machine mirror image" and click on images. kind of scary, looks like three big red sixes

  • oh man, what a great sound, great memories of the time. First Walkman I ever bought, first cassette- this record. You can imagine. I didn't need another cassette to play for months.

  • this song played with my mind, it reminds me of high school, no other song had the same effect all these years later.........great

  • I love Andy's guitar effect on the beginning... just sick and amazing.

  • I will search my mom's garage for this album so I can put this on CD

  • ghost was a precurser to them becoming biggest band of the time i actually prefer this album to synchronicity has a raw quality to it...i think all their stuff just got better and better ...all tremendous musicians ..sting has more than proven he is one of the best songwriters ever

  • It's little know song but it's very nice.Sting showed us his genius.

  • this is an amazing song, the whole album is as well. this worldclass music will be for ever loved by those who witnessed it...!!!

  • bloodystump -

you must be about as old as me ))

i blew my headphones with police records as a school kid

  • Awesome, underrated Police song, I loved, loved the Ghost in the Machine record, such great music!

  • excellent.........

  • "secret yorniiiiiiiiii "

    Thats funny....

  • my first cassette tape i bought was this one lol on a sony walkman great songs made me happy in happy times.

  • @Rm4rs sony walkman, ahh bring back memory's of the early 90's lol! i was too poor to afford a sony so it was a cheap alba from asda ;)

  • In 1981 having this great album was cutting edge. I couldn't sleep well for weeks as I couldn't get enough of it.

The addicting melancholy sounds were so good I couldn't turn them off.

  • @vdvsoldat Yes, and remember, too, that they loved to drape those melancholy and angst-filled lyrics in sickly beautiful sound, resulting in their trademark irony. Good examples: Every Breath You Take and Darkness.

  • @vdvsoldat it was a magical time...too true.

  • @vdvsoldat I couldn't agree with you more! I didn't really discover them until I picked out their music to practice in the guitar lessons I was taking.Powerful message about the spiritual journey that is unfolding for all of us in our lives. Thier music was so much of the fabric of the background of that time period( eighties of course)... like a low hum that you unconsiously hear in the back of your mind, but never really acknowledge or so it seems for me in my memorie...

  • @vdvsoldat: Same here... Also, GREATEST ALBUM COVER EVER!

  • It kind of reminds me of the singing in 'Spirits In The Material World'

  • I drew this on every book and desk in middle school and high school

  • @bloodystump3: OMG, YOU DID, TOO????

  • Thanks for the introduction Microsoft Esteban, lol. Amazing song though thanks for the post!

  • I the song really cool please don't be offended but i think queensryche was influence by this track

  • Sorry, it's not Synchronicity, but Ghost In The Machine. Yes, I totally agree, I think this, and Regatta de Blanc, where their best albums.

  • best song on this album by far :) , Synchronicity still reigns in my eyes though. Thanks for posting this.

  • your're point on, some of the giutar riffs remind me of walking on the moon
