  • Gobo, short for go beween, I believe used by those that light for theater. It goes between the light and the camera to block the light. Not sure how the theater part comes in tho?

  • Good Stuff Doug !

  • Gobo = "go between". Incredibly useful to have, thanks for a great and unassuming video, David.

  • Great video, like always :)

  • Dear Dugdale... YOU ROCK! Hey, question, I want to buy/make an affordable DSLR slider for my t2i, any suggestions, or better yet, can you do a review on a few options?

  • Where did you get the tripod that you connected everything to? As shown here: (0:40) Thanks!

  • @TheDJSdog that is a c-stand that I am doing a review on.

  • @drumat5280 Awesome!! Looking forward to it..could you get a link for me?? I've been looking for something just like it for awhile now!

  • I like the way you produce your videos you are smooth and cordial thanks for taking the time and sharing it all....regards.....O

  • Your videos are so very calming, and I learn something too - thanks :)

  • what are you using to grab the flags, looks like a boom and some kind of grabber?

  • I liked them until you mentioned the price.

  • A Go-bo is the removable head and arm that goes on top of a C-stand. You can attach your flag to this.

  • nice, but expensive. I think i would prefer some barn doors.

plus a 5-sided reflector or two for diffusion.

Thanks for the review though. :)

  • Great review. FYI, a flag blocks light. A silk or scrim allows light to pass through. A gobo has randomly shaped holes cut in it to throw shadow patterns on a wall or other surface. Its also known in the film industry at a cookie or cookaloris.

  • hey I got some vids it would be awsome to get feed back from you dave!

  • 12!!!!!™

  • Mmmm yeah the price is the deal breaker for me, but still a cool kit. Instead of flags, I find black-wrap to be more affordable and customizable. You can make some cheap stuff by taking tin foil and spray painting it black on one side and leave the other side silver (you can use the silver side if you need bounce and the black side to cover up the light.

  • I am 312 ! It seems like I am always after 300

  • Muchas gracias Dave, he aprendido mucho.

    Saludos desde Chile.

  • I'm not that interested in gobos, I just find your videos relaxing.

  • $200??? Yeah right.

Stick to the flags with tent poles.

  • Gobo means "go between." At least the gobos used in recording studios are, so I'd assume these would be the same.

  • رائع ، شكرا لك !
