  • True, true. But as they said. the image of old earth has become a myth and legend, so I think everybody have forgetted Earth and sol system. so to locking into stars might be difficult 'cos nobody have no clue where tehy might be? I think no civilization can pass knowledge of this scale to generation to generation in past 10-15 000 years.

  • this intro is probably the only reason i kept playing when i could barely play an fps

  • By far the best EVE intro.

  • I just realized something when she says,"the Caldari emerged as the strongest of them all" but at the time of that trailer the Caldari where still a bloodline in the Federation they did not become there own empire until after the Gallente-Caldari War.

  • @PofC123 Exactley, she said that the Gallente was a regional federation of many independant states, and the strongest of those states were the Caldari

  • The map of EVE at 1:45 is wrong :( The Ami, Fensi , Bridi triangle doesn't look like that, maybe I've been playing for too long =P

  • CCP, make a new intro. Same story, remade for the new age!

  • CCP should remake an introduction like this and replace the old Apocrypha next expansion or give me a billion ISK and i'll make one.

  • CCP, What the hell were you thinking? For two years I've played EVE Online without knowing anything of its essence or backstory, because you have an advertisement playing as your intro instead of THIS. I feel robbed of knowledge...

  • This one is better because it tells people the history of the game, rather than the current one, which is an advert at best and anyway, what's the point of advertising to people who are already playing the game?

  • All these years later and I still say this was EVE's best intro

  • @jeremyprimrose You are about to become what ALL men should fear...

does not this statment send chill down your spine?

  • Immortality! Take it!! IT IS YOURS!!!

  • Anyone else notice the gargantuan megacity in the middle of the Congo at the beginning?

  • at 0:22 when she said space, what popped into my head was "the final frontier"

  • @dareapa1 Yeah! Me too! Sadly, it wasn't that epic :P The trailer is good though

  • The wormhole used to bring people to New Eden but then it took an arrow to the knee

  • I joined EvE only a few weeks before they took this intro away... the new one sucks. They should bring this one back

  • Fuck this intro got me pumped way back in Red Moon Rising

  • I miss this intro, had some power behind it ya know?

  • Wow I miss this! Blast from the past and my char is not exactly an old one either!

  • Its a really good intro but when they introduced faction warfare they had to change it.

  • Except for the omission of the Jove Directorate in the ass kicking of the Amarr and establishment of the peace, this is a very nice intro.

  • 1:17 Eve aint no virgin no moar! Been probed more times...

  • New Commers should have to watch this Video, then the newest shit thrown at them, this answers a lot of answers they ask in the Help Channel.

  • I just wonder whatever happened to the old civilization of Earth and the Milky Way galaxy after the portal collapsed?

  • @helljumpr5150 Nobody knows. I've heard theories that the Sleeper galaxy is in fact parts of Milky Way, and the sleepers what old mankind left behind.

  • WOW this actually tells the backstory of EVE the exact way I tell it to any friends that don't know anything about EVE. This is fantastic! Bring this back!

  • Always makes me think of the Homeworld cutscenes (no bad thing mind you)

  • We aren't there anymore.

  • This has got to be the best trailer EVE has ever had (or will ever have). Oh, how I wish we could return to the Milky Way to see what's left of our ancestors.

  • Dude, i love that sexy monotone. She's like my wife now, I hear her voice more than my mom's.

  • I'm hoping CCP adds planetary missions or exploration. Sort of where you can actually fly into the atmosphere of the planet from space in one smooth transition. I would play this game just to do that.

  • There should an EVE 2: The Journey Home

  • Why did they change the intro, this one was way better.

  • CCP seems to have turned its back on story.

Chronicles have stopped, the introduction video has been murdered, the live events have become more like random events, and the continuing story has descended into random unimportant news snippets.

The story is actually what got me so hyped for eve, I wanted to help the Caldari to defeat the Gallente!

But now, just nothing. It's such a shame.

  • This was actually the current EVE intro movie when I started playing. And on relative scale I'm a mid old player at best.

  • I miss this intro...

  • CCP could make video-chronicles like this to be shown in an in-game history library so people can discover the past of the EVE universe without reading all the long text chronicles and just listen to the soothing voice :)

  • So why did everyone move to central africa?

  • Whoever would like to send me their email(no info, just email), will get a free extended trial of EVE online for 21 days instead of 14 days. And if you join, I will send you a ship of your choice. My email:

    mr-1337@live.com

  • I think CCP should have kept this intro movie. Makes my spine chill every time i see it.

  • They shoulda brought a scanner and some probes with them. Noobs.

  • I started Eve a few months back with Incursion, so it is sooooo awesome to finally see this movie, I always wanted to see it. I love reading, but there's so much storyline shit in the eve forums to read lol thanks a mill, now I want to load up Incarna and fuck some shit up!!! Who wants to join our corp? lol Eragnova bitch!!

  • Carl Sagan would play this game.

  • very nice intro.... but game is a little bit boring

  • CCPGames is finished as a company.

  • @mryellow123 why

  • The best 4:48 minutes OF MY LIFE!!!

The most EPIC Intro ever...Please CCP, can't you remake something like this for Incarna =3

Srsly, I sat in front of my computer with goosebumps all over my body....Epicgasm all the way <3

  • @AreusAstarte I have goosebumps 2 xD

  • funny how Eve's pre-player history when dealing with the 4 playable races are almost like that of Earths...guess humans can't help but repeat history :P

  • @Fredfredbug4 probably turned into sentient super being capable of god like powers

  • Anyone knows the title of the music playing in the background? I need to get it somewhere, it's absolutely brilliant.

  • Vel gert

  • this thing is a way better intro for a newcomers than the shit thats the current intro

  • Comment removed

  • @Vi3chi @Vi3chi I have to disagree. Sure, this into explains what EVE is, but the vast majority of people who play the game are interested in the gameplay and how the game works. This tells you nothing of that, other than "Take control of the destiny that is rightfully yours". The new trailer is much better at explaining the purpose of EVE as a game, which is what is really crucial for new players to understand.

  • @Phygar1 True. But you seem to underestimate the players' involvement in the storyline. If you check out the forums, you'll be surprised how many people keep themselves informed with the storyline and play along with it. Hell, I even saw players describe real-life current events from an Eve point of view. In one rare instance, Bin Laden's death was portrayed in a Eve-like kill mail. Hilarious.

  • @Vi3chi Can't agree with you more, and I don't eve play, yet.

  • there is no way they colonized every section of Home, they would've had to go through every arm every star...there are billions...but it was entertaining none the less and i miss it

  • wormhole? were is john chriton for this (farsacpe)

  • Man, i can't help but feel my imagination explode with wild thoughts of space and the possibilities of technology... Truly the best introduction ever!

  • @ 0:08 i can see my house from here!

And how cool is that there's a bridge connecting Africa and America and another one from mainland Portugal all the way to the Azores.

  • the amarr are the white westerners that ethnically cleansed the non whites and made them slaves - minmitar (USA native americans ethnically cleansed, and black slavery, and aboriginie australians ethnically cleansed, south africa ... etc)

so much for civilisation from the west

  • I wonder what happened to the humans that were on the Earth side of the EVE gate.

  • @Fredfredbug4 there a rumors that the sleepers now control the area where earth is- one WH system we went in, we found a massive collapsed wormhole like in new eden, the WH space, could be in fact old terran space

  • @Fredfredbug4 Possibly ascended to a higher state? Maybe just became more advanced in technology to the point that the technology of Eve compared to Earth would be a human fist to a destroyer's cannons, 35000 years is a long time. Or possibly everyone there could have wiped themselves out. So many possibilities for a new expansion (probably the last one if they get back to earth). So many scenarios in the way it could turn out.

  • @Fredfredbug4

I imagine they are up to Tec 9 ships by now.

  • @Fredfredbug4 Me too, would be cool if CCP opened the EVE gate later on

  • @Fredfredbug4 Probably wiped out by now.

  • @Fredfredbug4 They became the Jovians i believe. They never fell.

If ive read the chronicals right they tried to engineer the races of new eden. It failed they lost control.

  • @Fredfredbug4 I think they're probably died out as the universe they whur in dind'nt have many reqources anymore I believe all that exists of the old earth are the sleepers you find in wormholes

The stuff i shoot in the face with a drake :p

  • @Fredfredbug4 I just realized something. When you enter a wormhole, and enter W-space, you come across Sleepers. What if the old galaxy was turned into sleepers? Or perhaps evolved into the Jovians?

  • @Dagg215 Jovians are not from Earth. Well they are but they exist in the New Eden Galaxy.

The theory about sleepers is that they are from earth or are an alien race that conquered earth shortly after the wormhole collapsed.

  • @Fredfredbug4

The Jove were humans like the other colonists, but they retained their technology unlike the others. That is why they are so advanced. The sleepers are a mystery, but are thought to have been ancient humans as well. The current year in EVE is 23237 AD I believe.

Also, New Eden is just a star cluster. It's impossible to tell whether it's in the same galaxy or a different one than earth. Regardless, Earth is a rarely spoken of legend now, lost to time.

  • @Fredfredbug4 they are probably watching this very video right now

  • @Fredfredbug4 They unified into the Imperium of Man, after emerging heavily scarred after the Dark Age of Technology.

  • @Fredfredbug4 I assume the continued to live on Earth. But I could be worng. Maybe they all died too.

  • @Fredfredbug4 extreme overpopulation, devastating nuclear war, very few surviving but are rebuilding and possibly expanding like the 4 eve races did

  • @JamaicanMan18 No, they aldready did expand, Lol. EVE is nothing compared to what Earth would be at the time EVE is currently in.

  • @Jacey521 i didnt compare earth to eve, i said that with the collapse of the EVE gate earth wouldnt have been able to support its extreme overpopulation, and what could sprout from that was nuclear war, or a compeltely collapse of society

    L2R

  • @JamaicanMan18 Over a billion people went through the wormhole and never returned, Earth would've aldready expanded and would've kept a moderate pop. Plus, Earth would be a lot more superior then eve. And EVE fell into darkness for over a century before the Amarr emerged and found Minmatar, starting a nuclear war. And I know you didn't, I was stating that.

  • @Jacey521 Dude it was like 10,000 years not 100

  • @Fredfredbug4 I think that everyone who plays eve does. :P

  • @Fredfredbug4 Galactic Circle Jerk

  • @Fredfredbug4 They shrugged and said, "oh well."

  • @Fredfredbug4 Unserious answer: They used magic *snort* *snort* to l33thax titan-sized battleshipz

Serious answer: They probarly kept growing in power, to eventually colonize the whole milky way, and then kill themselfes with all the wars.

  • @Fredfredbug4 They all died?

  • @Fredfredbug4

They're probably still there and they'll eventually come and rape the races of EVE, as they are extremely tehnologicaly advanced. Wrecks of terran ships from the era of colonization while eve gate was still open (before the races of eve fell into complete barbarism) are extremely advanced and phisicaly massive than the current ships of EVE's races. This is what i found out from the book.

  • @Fredfredbug4 well it seems like they were struggling with out the eve universes resouces so i could imagine that things over there cant be going that well

  • @Fredfredbug4 apparently the scriptures foretell that the eve gate will open and the terrans (which i think were earth side humans) will enter eve

  • @pizzaoverlord12345 Those terrans from the earth side of the eve gate should be interesting to see. More than likely they are insanely more technologically advanced than the 4 races. After all, they had thousands of years to improve whereas the eden universe terrans lost thousands of years of knowledge.

  • @Lestat21500 That's what EvE lores says, the empirean age novel refers to "terran" artefacts, hidden from the four races by the jovians.

Sleepers are already proof of a massively more advanced civilisation, jovians too. Terrans must be quite awesome too as far as technology is involved.

It sure would be a fairly impressive and interresting branch of eve history to see come into actual gameplay... don't know how it could happen though...

  • @Fredfredbug4 So does everybody.

  • @Fredfredbug4 Technological singularity probarly.

  • I wonder what security status the our solar system would be if we could get back through EVE.

  • This is massively better than the new intro.

  • i got a 21 day trial extension for EVE if anyone would is interested, git me up with a message and i'll email the link through

  • Jesus, ive been playing for about two years and have never known the begginings of eve.... FKin epic....

  • Aaah, the memories of watching this intro. It felt so epic back then.

  • For 21 days trial account (extra 7 days) for this awesome game send me your e-mail in a message . I ll invite u to play

  • Scary. That was a history lesson more then an intro for a internet game

  • @Chouldentfindanygood is it story or line thats to hard for you to grasp in the title?

  • @Dt0x75 I do understand it a storyline for a internet game. Was it to hard for you to grasp that I was meaning it was very similar to earth history, bad wars etc, human destruction?

  • @Chouldentfindanygood "meaning it was very similar to earth history, bad wars etc, human destruction?"

aaaaand this is exactly what the storyline is based on.

  • the soundtrack on this is quite powerful. i don't know if it has the same impact on all you guys but it makes me feel so hopeless. am not sure if it was intended to be like that but it sure as hell goes with the story. why on earth did CCP abandon followups on the story of EVE. will the new world ever be reunited with the old?

  • jovians deserve a special intro just for themselves...

  • it's amasing how they have the computer power to support 7500 systems

  • such a great game and such a great storyline!

  • The last four sentences are the deepest, and most emotional I've ever heard either in a videogame, or in any kind of intro. In either literal, or metaphorical ways, but it sums up what should humanity, and the individual person should thrive for. And that's the most important.

  • @Termiborger true

  • this looks like a possible future for mankind

  • finally i found it :) This is my ONE AND ONLY intro to eve. It is probably the best intro´s into a sci-fi universe i´ve ever seen as it is so dark and so damn true to the nature of mankind! Badly they removed it. But eve already lost a bit of its former soul so this was not surprising. Anyway this trailer reminds me of the good old days in new eden and therefore i just bookmarked it! :)

  • Does anyone know the name of music going in the background, and where to buy it?

By the way, in my opinion, clearly the best intro ever created for a sci-fi game, 1:36 gives me goosbumps. Cheers CCP

  • When a section of a socierty is cut off from its roots and is in another section of out galaxy i.e O O

The best thing to do is colonise your way back home this shorten the gulf bit by bit till both sections are back together again i.e. OO

And yes, I do play Eve.

  • our galaxy

  • @Puzzoozoo mmh they are not in the the same galaxy, the wormhole send them to another galaxy, no way to make contact with the others again.

  • @bengacris I don't think so. The text in ^ says transported to "a virgin system", nowhere does it say to another galaxy, it just says "across the universe" but that can mean anything. Besides in 'New Eden' you also find star gates, so did all these new colonists build star gates before that started killing each other. Plus on the 1 min 38 sec mark, it shows the night sky constellations. My guess is 'New Eden is another arm of our galaxy, and not in another galaxy.

  • @Puzzoozoo Mankind built the stargates in the EVE Universe when they started colonizing it. There is no reason why after Humanity rediscovered this technology they couldn't improve or modify the previously built gates to their tastes. Also, considering the absolutely insane rate of colonization in lore, there is no reason at all as to why humanity stopped mapping out nearby star systems. Also no known constellations from Earthside exist in EVE. Hard to say we're neigboring Sol.

  • @saintjinn "Also no known constellations from Earthside exist in EVE." The constellations change shape over time, and if not when viewed from the side wouldnt resemble the pattern we know from an Earth vantage point..

  • @Puzzoozoo they say "when stargates couldn't take them further" that has to mean that they could travel between stars in the galaxy but no further, and going to another place in the galaxy is hardly going across the universe. its like saying "I'm going across town" and ending up in your front yard, with more than billion Galaxies in the observable universe

  • @tobbi11 I can't see or metally picture a worm hole spanning millions of light years actross intergalactic space, so to me Eve is in another part of our galaxy, and I suppose eventually CCP will have the star map as our entire galaxy, with lots of conflicts happening as the Eve races get back to the sector with Earth, and CCP could invent a few different races to stir it all up. We shall see.

  • Eve has 50,000 players average at anyone time. So eventually CCP could be aiming at 250,000 or more players with major capital investment of the server in an sli configuration to accomodate the extra players, and as the single sandbox will be bigger they will be more spread out, and maybe less lag will occur.

  • @Puzzoozoo Dude, you dont see the body of the wormhole, its basically a "portal" in space that sends you through a bend in space to another part, an exit unlike a black hole which leads to a point of destruction...This is another part of our "universe" but certainly not our galaxy.

  • @Clonetrooper111 CCP has never said so, so it could be in our galaxy, and to have a game expansion they have the option to have the 4 races and the bulk of humanity join up in this galy, as the gap between them is slowly narrowed at some future time, to accomodate extra player numbers.

  • @Puzzoozoo hey i know you cant "metally picture a worm hole spanning millions of light years" your probably not an astrophysicist so i don´t expect you to.

if you calculate the speed the ships are doing in warp drive (1au/sec) (8min for light speed) it would only take them 54 years to travel from the center of the galaxy to earth (26,000 light years) and thats not the fastest ship in eve, they also have jump drives that are many times faster than that, so math, logic and science wins again!!!

  • @tobbi11 No, I'm no astrophysicist. But once when I was mining to pass the time I did a bit of back of an envelope calculation, and the Gallente Valator at 3 AU per sec at warp could go from here to Alpha Centura in just 23 hours. If CCP wants to freshen up the games concept, after the 18th and the release of Incursion, it can have Eve in a section of our galaxy, as if you look at the map you'll see Eve isn't more then 5k system & 200 ly across, and our galaxy is 200 BILLION systems & 100k ly.

  • @Puzzoozoo i believe it was you who said "I suppose eventually CCP will have the star map as our entire galaxy" which is just insane,

we only travel 1 or 2 sec in the highest warp, if the people of EVE would want to get back to Earth instead of almost dying out completely because of the collapse of the new eden wormhole, the could have done it pretty easily,

  • @tobbi11 Yep, that's what I said, and the more players CCP may get the bigger the map to spread them all out, and to as a result be to ease the load on the server. You have your maths wrong, in the Gallante starting system the most distant belt is 42 AU away, the Gallante rookie ship does 3 AU a second at warp, and takes 12 seconds to reach it. 40 AU from the station, the other gates are also at a similar distance, so 12 to 15 seconds at warp, * n jumps. CCP may have that feature in future.

  • @Puzzoozoo the gates

  • the 'feature' being having another races which is the outer rim of the bulk of humanity, and they meet the Eve ppl, and thus we have new ships, and new conflicts ect.

  • @Puzzoozoo your right about the speed but... go to wikipedia then type in eve online and go to backround...

    I WIN !!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Puzzoozoo If I read your statement right, yeah, EVE ships can travel to earth in small amount of time, but the problem is the destination lock. that is required to warp. You cant warp without destination. Same thing as jumping with Caps. they need Cyno in the destination system taht works as like "beacon" or "Lighthouse" to cap's jump drives to lock in.

  • @FinALIEN93 True, but locking on to a stars positions is a good beacon. Maybe a 'Star Wars' nav computer could solve that issue. In the Millenium Falcon hand book the astro navigation sytem and means is discussed, but that is moot.

  • Still think this intro was better than the new one, it has more that dark feel to it, just the feeling it gives you makes it much better. Sadly it is no longer correct seeing the empires are no longer at peace, but at war.

  • Whats the song in the background called... iv heard other people used it for there videos...

  • Words like: destiny, fate, your own path... make wis video soo epic :D I can't push dislike button, so... LIKE. EVE don't give a fuck

  • why do 8 people dislike this video?! Even though 8 out of 84,832 views is very small it still makes me wonder...

  • Man i wish this was still the intro!!! It explains the EVE universe exceptionally well. I came in about 6 months ago and have loved it sofar! Though good god can some of the training times get crazy, but hey its worth it in the end.

  • EvE would be awesome if you could pilot your ship with the keyboard or joystick, I just can't get past how combat is entirely decided before hand. It's a scripted fight, you're just there to watch.

  • @UnknownXV: Scripted? Hell fucking no.

  • @Helge129 In the sense that a fight is predetermined based on what gear you have and what character skills are applicable. It's not as involved as I would want it to be. But then it may be more my thing when we get a real flesh and bone character to play as inside the EvE universe, which is definitely impressive.

  • @UnknownXV: A fight is in no way predetermined to be honest.

  • @Helge129 in fact they exhibit the worst characteristics of all 4 races ...

  • @Communist2012 What comment were you replying to?

  • @UnknownXV EvE has definitely been the most difficult game i have ever played. also one of the most fun. I've spent countless hours simply thinking of what id do in a fight, joining my skills with what my friends could do to maximize your output. The people on EvE tend to be a quite a bit older and more mature so conversation is always an enjoyable passtime when your waiting for that next fool to jump the gate, or that manufacturing cycle to finish.

  • @UnknownXV You probably haven't really gotten into the deepness and mechanics of the game. At first the game seems to be pretty stacked against you and everything is predetermined. as you get specialized in your skills you find that there is an IMMENSE amount of activity during a fight, the slightest change in your trajectory by just clicking one iota to the left or right can mean that last hit that you make or don't make, that hits you or doesn't hit you.

  • epic..
