i don't necessarily agree with some his interpretations, but he's surely a great great performer, and his performance is very exciting to watch and listen.
Around 7:09 to 7:12, my mom was able to tell that he missed a note there!!!!!! She, by the way, is not a Classical Musician at all and she has not been trained!!! o______o
breathtaking.....he is the andrew marriner of the weber concertino......and for all you guys who are disagreeing with the vibratos, go jump off a cliff....he plays them like they're meant to be there....
this is by far the best recording ive ever heard of this, even though im not a fan of vibrato on the clarinet either.
do you realize how much of a prodigy he is? he became principal clarinet of the nypo when he was 19!! and he just retired, finishing (im pretty sure) his 60TH year as the principal clarinet!
my mind cant even fathom a person being that good for so long. hes just amazing, def. one of the greatest clarinet players around.
dude.......go blow on a basset horn.....if you can't appreciate the ability of the *ahem second best clarinet player in history (andrew marriner is no1 in my opinion) don't watch him play
this piece is so fun to play. It is very challenging. I had to play this for my honors band tryouts. They took 28 clarinets and 96 auditioned. I made it! This is by far the best version of concertino that I have heard.
He is surely amazing! I just don't understand why professionals take solos so fast, yes it is impressive, but in my own opinion, it takes away from the musical integrity of a piece. Also, I'm not a big fan of all the vibrato on the clarinet. Though, this is amazing and Stanley surely is one of the paramount clarinet players of this century!
Wow dude, i hope you have some musical abilities to show because this guy gets paid for every minute hes on stage(exageration). The First of all this is a solo piece and open to Interpretation.
Second: this the best video of this piece on youtube.
Third: the breathing part, man like i said i hope you know music, because i have the piece and breathing is very limited when you have 12 measures of slurred or tongued 16th notes.
Further more there are only four types of articulation Legato, Staccato, Legato over staccato and slurred staccato, unless you would like to include accent and marccato, but where there are those he plays them.
Go take a rain check you have no idea what your talking about.
Um... there is certainly phrasing... actually, he phrases so much that he fills it with this totally unique character that is totally Stanley Drucker... talk about the most musical fingers in the biz. Maybe the man doesn't sound like Robert Marcellus in terms of tone when he plays, but he can bring a heck of a lot more spirit than anybody I've heard when he plays something...

He is killing Weber... I don't like it at all...

pretty good. without all the vibrato's it would have been nice.
WorldChampBandgeek 2 years ago
what the hell, the vibrato's are his interpretation...without them, this piece would basically sound like all the others on Youtube

BUT STANLEY DRUCKER IS A LEGEND IN CLARINET WORLD, HE IS A FANTATASTIC PLAYER IN AMERICAN STYLE.
THANKS MR. DRUKER I'D LIKE to PLAY 1/10 LIKE YOU.
I APOLOGIZE MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS ABOUT STANLEY DRUCKER.

He's really not using a vibrato...it's just that his 72 year old chops are a bit enfeebled and unsteady! His retirement is timely!

when this was recorded he wasnt more than 50

He was 60 in this recording...

Please don't compare him to Andrew Marriner. Marriner is miles away better :)
klarinetta 2 years ago
Maybe now, but that's just because Stanley is 80 and Marriner is in his prime. Few clarinet players ever compare to Stanley in the 60s and 70s...

I'm afraid about this version...no musical breathings...only two ways of articulation: legato or staccato. No phrasing...uf...increible...
