hi. i want to learn some herping tips. what time of year do salamanders come out of hibernation and when do spotted salamanders start moving to vernal pools-thanks ps i live in maryland
there is a place in northern ohio called lawrance woods and in early spring after winter rains they come out to breed and they arte fuckin everywhere-by the why ur a faggady ass dude
Hey dylan i live in MA. and i rarely see spotted salamanders and i live next to a dishpan (pond) and in my woods theres a brook. where should i look to find a spotted salimander they seem imposible to find!
the other day i was hiking and i turned up a rock a long a very small stream of water and under i saw 2, i believel, salamanders, but my first impression was that they would be worm because they were so small and skinny, but one ran away and i picked up the other. it had really small stubby legs and a red line going down its back, any idea what it could be?
I live in georgia, and there are tons of these little salamanders under rocks in all of the creeks around here. They are very small, and have tiny mudpuppy-style gills, but they're definately not mudpuppes. Iv'e never seen them out of the water, any idea what kind they might be? I can't find any pictures online anywhere.
Yeah man i just caught my first marble.....Theyre awesome!!!! I found him/her in my own backyard!!!!! Just goes to show you you dont need to travel to find herps because we also found an american toad,a bullfrog, and an eastern box turtle and its only 2:00!1!!!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
OMG, dylan i love ur videos, and all of the animals u have found , especially this adorable tiny littlesalamder! i love all animals including reptiles of all species i have been an animal lover my whole life and im sure for the rest of it! keep on with those videos, dylan!!

Quiz question: what other ambystoma are fall breeders? No looking things up
Basketbreaker 2 years ago
talpoideum for sure.
errr ... annulatum but that is in MO.
I think talpoideum is it in IL ... there are only like 8 species in the ambystoma genus in IL.
longtailed and cave are fall breeders too I know... not ambystoma though.
Reebbo 2 years ago
I guess i should have been more specific. i meant all of the US. Also, what is the common name of talpoidium?
And yes eurycea are generally fall/winter breeders
Basketbreaker 2 years ago
Trifecta in Oct? Plus a lifer??? Great finds! WNDR FTW!
